New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

Miss* not kisso ! Haha

BeckyButterfly · 16/02/2019 15:41

@ReginaPhalange89 I’ve been wanting poached eggs for weeks now! 😂 I think for me it is more about not being allowed stuff, makes me want it more haha.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 16/02/2019 15:42

@ReginaPhalange89 you can have runny eggs as long as they have the lion stamp on them. It says on the NHL's website that they are safe.

StargazyDrifter · 16/02/2019 15:51

My MW said runny eggs with the lion mark are fine too, and I've been enjoying them ever since. Feels very indulgent.

ReginaPhalange89 · 16/02/2019 16:14

Oooh didn't know that ! I'll have to make sure they have the stamp on !

GiGi18 · 16/02/2019 16:20

Yes to runny eggs, in fact I had a poached egg on toast this morning with spinach, lovely!

Luckily I don't like pate, sushi etc so not missing that although I did accidentally eat a pastrami sandwich in Berlin not realising that pastrami was to be avoided. It was massive too! Felt awful when I realised 😩 thought I would miss booze but I'm actually really enjoying the no drinking.

Got such a headache today and paracetamol isn't touching it, really wish I could take ibuprofen. Can't even just chill out as we are moving in 3 weeks so it's been sorting and packing all day. So excited to get settled in new place then can start getting stuff for baby sorted.

I'm getting a lot of second hand bits from kind friends and family. So far I have a pram (paying my sister for a second hand one), next to me crib (loaning from a friend, need to buy a new mattress) bouncer (free from a colleague) and a couple of bags of clothes. What's everyone thinking about car seats? I get so confused by them, not sure what to go for, newborn vs longer term one.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. X

StargazyDrifter · 16/02/2019 16:28

GiGi18 are you drinking enough water? That can give you headaches too and, in pregnancy, you have to drink more. Since I've been making myself drink 2L (measured in a plastic bottle or Pyrex, if at home) I've felt much better. Good luck with the move!

The British Heart Foundation came earlier to pick up a load of furniture and CDs from what will be the nursery. It's all set for redecorating and doing go now. Feels a bit scary. Think I want to go with greens/bit of gold and plants and stuff, maybe some bold tree/foliage wallpaper as contrasting colours are meant to be good for the little brains to focus on. But not so bold the baby can't sleep! If you ladies see anything in that vein please do link/post. I don't really know what I mean exactly, yet!

HchyScott · 16/02/2019 17:36

I swear to god when this little lady is born I’m going to put my face in a wheel of Brie!!!!!!!!!

BeckyButterfly · 16/02/2019 17:59

@GiGi18 I’m getting quite a lot of stuff off people too which is nice. My dad is giving me all of my little sister’s old nursery furniture (there is a big age gap between us!) it’s from Mamas and Papas and cost them loads when they bought it so that’s fab! Other than that, both me and the hubby have big generous families so getting quite a lot bought for us.
My mum bought us a Joie car seat which is birth to 4 years. It is iSize and has an Isofix base. It was only £155 through Emma’s Diary which is really good!

BeckyButterfly · 16/02/2019 17:59

Also , @HchyScott I just laughed out loud at that 😂

GiGi18 · 16/02/2019 18:04

@StargazyDrifter I think I am but maybe not so much at the weekends as I tend to have a bottle with me at work all day but not at weekends. Thanks for reminding me, downing a pint now! Nursery theme sounds so lovely, love greens and gold together. You should look on the Wish app for wee bits and bobs, it has some great bargains on stuff like prints and little accessories. Think I'm going for a baby animal theme, found some lovely prints on there for only £2 each!

TwinkleDay · 16/02/2019 18:11

I have been eating goats cheese but it's in a beetroot and goats cheese Tesco salad ... so will have to be pasteurised to get through the factory standards and be heat treated food safe ...

AIDE2424 ❤️❤️❤️

How very exciting!!!

There seem to be a few more girls than boys on the thread? Although team yellow might all end up with boys, I suppoose.

HchyScott · 16/02/2019 19:05

@AIDE2424 yay! Congratulations!!

Kentishgal · 16/02/2019 19:08

Not missing alcohol much - only really drink a little red wine and malt whisky anyway but just not fancied them. I miss stilton and all blue cheese (I know nhs website says you can eat at least some of these but I just don't want to risk it). I've already told my husband to come to the hospital armed with a pot of stilton. As you say, it's more just thinking what soft drink to have instead. Congratulations on all the gender news - definitely seem to be more girls on here so far!

StargazyDrifter · 16/02/2019 19:14

Kentishgal are you starting to feel any better btw? I was thinking the brighter weather might at least lift your spirits a bit.

StargazyDrifter · 16/02/2019 19:18

Thanks for the heads up about Wish, GiGi! Baby animals are a lovely idea. Some very cool things around.

Kentishgal · 16/02/2019 20:06

stargazydrifter I'm definitely better than I was thanks - got another course of antibiotics (albeit they messed up the dose for 48hrs which was a bit annoying) but that last little bit doesn't seem to want to leave me. The pain in my ribs/shoulder blade from the fall is unfortunately no better but hoping that'll go in time! I went out today though, so definitely feeling better! It was so nice and warm, people were sat outside with a glass of wine. I can't imagine how all of you that are still feeling / being sick are coping though. Have any of you tried those sickness/travel bands, I definitely think they helped me after a few days wear. My sister bought me a pregnancy relaxation pack from Natalia Vital Touch - that has a roller ball pulse point sickness ease in it - not sure if that would help but it certainly smells lovely!

StargazyDrifter · 16/02/2019 20:43

Kentishgal glad to hear you're on the mend! A long slog for you. Definitely good to get out. Hopefully the ribs/shoulder are 'just' bruising. Have you thought about a (warm, not hot) bath with w a lot of salt? Helps me sometimes, the pain can sometimes make you tense all over.

The bands don't do much for my morning gag 🙈 but I do wear them on train journeys and car rides. Have tried to persuade myself it's worth it, but in reality I think the results are mixed. I only ate half of my lovely dinner again tonight. ☹️ Have been trying DIY acupressure on my feet, there's an anti nausea point, but I think I've been doing it wrong! 😂

The Natalia pack sounds very intriguing! I will check it out. Also need to get on and find a pregnancy pillow or DH will keep trying to roll me when I'm asleep!

Giraffe888 · 16/02/2019 20:46

@stargazydrifter I got a v shaped pillow from ikea for £7 and the cover was £3, I really like it!

Congratulations on the girl AIDE2424 x

We’re thinking nautical for our nursery theme 💙

TwinkleDay · 16/02/2019 21:17

@AIDE2424 congratulations on your little girl. Aww

TwinkleDay · 16/02/2019 21:23

By the way my midwife Advised me to wear flight socks if I am ok a long journey ... they are of many different compressions has anyone bought any already or recommend any?

Jxtina86 · 16/02/2019 21:48

@TwinkleDay I always wear flight socks as had swollen ankles on a long flight and I've had the fear ever since. I'm not sure about the type of compression but they send to come in S, M, L etc. I think I got a medium pair before a flight in December and they were fine. I usually forget and end paying over the odds at the airport so recommend not doing that!!

Kentishgal · 16/02/2019 21:51

stargazydrifter yes a warm bath is good for it (I even get my daughter's duck thermometer out to check the temp as I don't want to go too hot!). Urgh the morning gag sounds rotten - I felt bad enough being off food for the first trimester - but that totally explains wanting the bland diet though. I got a dream genii (spelt something like that) for my first pregnancy and am using that again - but I think it depends on how you usually sleep / personal preference as some people prefer the big v shaped ones. I use an orthopaedic pillow as have slipped discs in neck and it means I can carry on using that - plus the wedge stops me rolling onto my back (I'm usually a back sleeper)...My husband sleeps through anything so there's zero chance of him rolling me back! I'm too busy elbowing him to stop him snoring!
