New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

Jealous of everyone finishing work when they are! My plan is to keep going till the 19th of July 😩 not sure that’ll actually happen though since I’m due the 24th. I’ll just have to wait and see.

blueeyedviking · 18/03/2019 08:07

@ReginaPhalange89 Congrats on your engagement. Thats such lovely news!

@jxtina86 Those episodes are not comfortable to get in public. Hope you are feeling better.

@dianablythe Great to hear it's all ok. I bet that was scary so glad They took care of you.

I got back yesterday from a trip home. Carrying suitcases, all the walking, flying etc by myself was definitely a challenge.

We go on our babymoon in three weeks, cannot wait! Looking forward to resting and hopefully sleeping!

Twistering · 18/03/2019 09:46

@dianablythe - can’t imagine how scary that was. So glad all ok.

24 weeks tomorrow here. Is it deemed a milestone as baby considered viable?

blueeyedviking · 18/03/2019 12:35

I think this may have been covered before.. but, does anyone get really sharp pain in lower back? Not like a UTI, feels muscular and especially when I walk or sit too long...

thedust · 18/03/2019 13:49

@blueeyedviking could be pelvic girdle pain. I've had a bit of it, only in my right side. It feels like a stabbing pain sometimes or hurts if I move funny, try to stand on one leg (e.g putting shoes on etc). There is some info on the NHS website and also on the Pelvic Partnership website.

We ordered our pram and car seat yesterday! Joolz day 3 and the Cybex cloud z car seat. Asked for it to be delivered in 3-6 weeks instead of nearer the due date so we can get our dog used to it. Can't wait to get it. Nursery is coming along too, need 1 more coat of paint then we can do the woodwork. Then we need to get my BIL to fit our new radiator and book the floor fitters in to put the laminate down. Hope to be done before Easter!

Capybaras · 18/03/2019 16:54

Has anyone got any recommendations for comfy and not too pricey maternity pyjamas? My normal ones are now ridiculously tight so Ive decided I need to get some mat ones. Had a look on the usual maternity wear sites and loads of the ones which look nice have terrible reviews!

Capybaras · 18/03/2019 16:56

Been having more stretchy/pulling pains in my stomach the last few days so hoping this will mean I'll finally pop.

I've had a few people comment that I don't look that pregnant which I've found a bit upsetting! I know it's a stupid thing to be bothered about as I'm so lucky to be pregnant and have a healthy baby but it has made me feel a bit self-conscious!

ReginaPhalange89 · 18/03/2019 19:09

@capybaras I haven't tried any maternity PJs but Lidl had some in and they were only about £7 !

thedust · 18/03/2019 19:13

@capybaras I ordered some from boohoo that are quite comfy and I also just got some from next a size up.

People should just NOT comment on people's bumps. They probably think it's a compliment but it's still not nice to comment on. Too small, too big, no one ever says 'oh you've got just a perfect bump'. A colleague in work says 'omg you're getting so big!' everytime I see her and I'm like 'yep, that's what's gonna happen'. Only a medical professional can really judge your bump size, everyone is different depending on their bodies pre-pregnancy, I'm sure yours is perfect for you and baby 😊

cravingmilkshake · 18/03/2019 19:47

I managed to find a second hand changing table for a great price today! Really pleased with it. I thought I'd get some cute little jute storage boxes and fill them with nappies etc.

Anyone watching channel 4 on baby formula...

Capybaras · 18/03/2019 20:45

Thank you for the suggestions - I'll take a look!

I feel silly being upset by it @thedust but agree with you completely that you should never bump shame someone. I haven't had any fundal growth measurements yet but was measuring spot on at my 20 week scan, and people carry differently!

Oh - haven't seen that @Yukka is it any good?

thedust · 18/03/2019 21:09

Don't feel silly @capybaras, I had a cry a few weeks ago after a bump comment too. It's very personal. People do carry very differently. On baby centre they have bump galleries of people all the same week and they're all so different.

StargazyDrifter · 18/03/2019 21:13

Capybaras as others say, they're taking nonsense! I've had that said a few times too, and it totally depends on what I'm wearing and what I've eaten that day! 😳 You do you, as they say. Your bump is perfect as it is.

Jxtina86 · 18/03/2019 21:27

@Capybaras I second what @thedust said. The Babycentre gallery is very reassuring to see all different bumps of all shapes and sizes! I think people just want to say something and just don't think it through and realise the impact it can have. It's such a vulnerable time and people forget that.

We've just bit the bullet and ordered our pram...! We've gone for the Joie Chrome dlx - it's a bit chunkier than what I thought I'd like, but it just felt so good to handle and I liked the height (I'm 5'7-8 and DH is 5'10). Also the big back wheels did it for me - the thought of trying to bump something tiny up and down the big step to our front door was just no. Also realised that whilst I will use the bus etc, it'll be less frequent and at off peak for the most part and I do walk lots so need something smooth for the rough park tracks around here as well as pavements.

BeckyButterfly · 18/03/2019 21:32

People always have something to say about the size of your bump. I wish people would just mind their own business! Everyone keeps telling me how huge I am. They’ve done that since I first began to show.

I’ve also started lying when people at work ask if I can feel her kick because I told a few people that I haven’t felt her yet and they really panicked me by going on about how I should be feeling her by now. As if I wasn’t worried enough to begin with!

twickersmumtobe · 19/03/2019 07:19

@BeckyButterfly that's my due date and planned maternity leave date, my boss keeps looking at me a little nervously, I think he thinks I'm going to have the baby in the office 😂

We've ordered our travel system, went for the upperbaby vista, as it's a little higher than the icandy, it can take 2 if we go crazy and try for a second really close together. Car seat we have ordered the kiddie, as it has a lie flat function which we thought might come in handy if stuck in traffic.

Congratulations to all you ladies reaching your 24 week milestone, I look forward to joining you in 2 weeks.

Giraffe888 · 19/03/2019 07:25

Well yesterday morning a customer told me I was hiding it well and didn’t look pregnant, then an hour later another one told me I looked massive! People don’t know what they’re talking about! X

twickersmumtobe · 19/03/2019 07:33

As for the bump shaming, I'm trying my best to ignore them, I have had a couple of people say are you sure your pregnant as you look like your thinner now than before. I remind them it's all the throwing up I have done weekly since November 😕

In a few weeks time we will all be looking out for the bump molesters, which feel the need to grab your bump without permission. I've only had three so far but I'm not so keen on the idea of people thinking they can just come up to you and rub/grab your bump. Has anybody got plans/ advice on how to deal with this when it happens?

Giraffe888 · 19/03/2019 08:30

@twickersmumtobe the only people I’ve had touch my bump is my mum, MIL and 2 close friends and I don’t mind that. I still find it hard to believe that random people might touch it so I don’t know how I’d deal with it! X
