New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

@Capybaras anything that involved bringing my knees to close to my chest is out, as is anything on all fours. It's not so much being big, but lack of comfort internally. Finding some joy in lying sideways like a lazy doggy. I've not really been put off at all like some, I'm just noticing an obvious discomfort!

DianaBlythe · 24/02/2019 11:08

Reverse cowgirl? Although boobs are bigger and jigglier than usual so need holding!

ReginaPhalange89 · 24/02/2019 12:19

Sex ? What is sex ? 🤔😂 I'm now 18+6 and I think the last time we had sex was at 9 weeks . Oh God. Haha . So long ago. so I can't really comment on positions , although last time round I do remember him being scared to squash me lol. We're very much a missionary couple so that's tricky with a bump.

It has been aaaages. My OH works nightshift and he's doing lots of over time right now so we rarely get a night together . Need to make a point of making time when he's next off ! Trouble is I'm shattered in the evenings and end up falling asleep not long after the kids 🙈

cravingmilkshake · 24/02/2019 12:53

Hi ladies,

We managed to get out for a lovely walk in this beautiful weather yesterday. My brother who got married in Sri Lanka in December (we had to cancel the trip as early days) had his uk reception yesterday/ got home at midnight so exhausted now.

I'm 19 weeks today and haven't felt anything. Is this normal for first pregnancy? Lots of pains but not unbearable.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 24/02/2019 13:00

@cravingmilkshake I've only just been feeling movements in the last few days and I'm 20+5, it's my first too

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 24/02/2019 13:02

I'm trying to work out how much of each size I'm going to need? And whether our July babies will need any long sleeves? Or short sleeves and a cardi?

ReginaPhalange89 · 24/02/2019 13:08

@fortheloveofdoughnuts I still plan to have mine in vests and sleepsuits for the first few weeks . I think the general rule is baby needs one extra layer to you so it you're wearing a t shirt they should have a vest and a long sleeve top? I think... It's so hard to know ! I'm also trying not to buy too much in small sizes because people tend to buy you newborn/0-3 months as gifts! We've always ended up with way too much with our previous 2

LavenderBelle · 24/02/2019 13:12

I’ve slept in all morning today, my anxiety has really took a hit since being pregnant and I’ve finally been able to get some sleep. We haven’t got a fit or anything yet because we don’t have the money, we’re planning to get one when he needs it and then when he moves into his own room put it in there. But we won’t do that up until he’s older and we can do it the way he wants, so it will work as both his room and our study.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 24/02/2019 13:15

@ReginaPhalange89 it's so hard. I have no idea at all. I've just brought some bits in Tesco in the sale but not sure whether I've brought the right sizes. I didn't realise how expensive baby clothes were going to be! Shock

ReginaPhalange89 · 24/02/2019 13:21

Yeah it can be expensive! Especially since they grow so quickly so you don't get much wear out of things ! I get basics like vests from primark, they're only something like £3 a packet ! I rarely buy anything full price either I always buy when there are sales or offers on !

Capybaras · 24/02/2019 13:37

We're not at it like teenagers but will definitely try some of those positions out! We're quite missionary too and I'm scared of squashing DH with my extra weight Grin

Good question on what to buy - I've no idea , have a spreadsheet so will hopefully get a good spread of basics.

We looked at prams yesterday and I still like the bugaboo fox - felt really easy to manouveur compared to some other prams. Oyster 3 felt nice too. Can't remember what everyone else has gone for, but my DH isn't loving the price of prams!

Such a nice sunny day here so gone for a walk with the dog and pub lunch!

BeckyButterfly · 24/02/2019 14:02

@LavenderBelle we aren’t doing the bean’s room out until she’s older and can choose what she wants. It’s pretty neutral as it is so it’ll be fine.

Sex is a no go here, last time we did it was around 2 months ago but I just didn’t enjoy it for some reason. I’ve been so emotional and anxious that I don’t think I can switch off long enough to enjoy it! Poor hubby 😂

@Capybaras we are getting the Oyster 3, can’t wait to order it. I just fell in love with it. My hubby had a heart attack when he saw the prices and keeps going on about how expensive the iCandy is even though we aren’t getting that one and his parents are buying us the pram anyway 😂

BeckyButterfly · 24/02/2019 14:03

Also, @cravingmilkshake I’m 18+4 and got diddly squat going on in there! Like you say, a few aches and pains but nothing I could attribute to movement.

LavenderBelle · 24/02/2019 14:14

BeckyButterfly That’s what we will do too, our house is pretty small as it is and his room is a really awkward layout. So we’ll just wait until he can choose how he wants it done instead of spending money we don’t have.

If anything we’re having more sex, my sex drive has gone extremely high since being pregnant and we have it usually once a day before sleep. DH is knackered from it. Spooning seems to be the best position for us, but we liked that before too.

We’re just buying vests and sleepsuits for now, I love a baby all in white. I was born in August and apparently my mum said I barely wore anything. I’m dreading giving birth in the heat.

AIDE2424 · 24/02/2019 14:36

I completely went off sex untill 12 weeks and now
It’s firmly back on the table, I still have no bump at all can’t even tell in the slightest I’m pregnant so aren’t struggling with position yet.

I’m still struggling with what to buy for baby and off shopping for some stuff on Tuesday.

I want to do her bedroom out but need to move house first as ours in only 2 bedroom and my partners 7 year old son has that room so lots to do before July!

Yukka · 24/02/2019 14:42

@ReginaPhalange that's a good tip on the layers of clothes for baby. I haven't bought a lot - one new born set of 2 vests and 2 babygrows - it said on average up to 7lb6oz on the sizing, my sis bought some like this and baby was 7.14 so they were too small, She found she got the most wear out of the 0-3mths.. I was a bit worried about the summer thing and how hot it could be and what the right numbers of layers were, I guess vest, baby grow, and blanket, perhaps not the blanket so much during the day, or different weight blankets?

Well we committed yesterday and bought the iCandy Peach Pushchair and Carrycot and maxi-cosi pebble plus car seat and base. We went to a local shop and got £500 off the lot in a bundle deal, and the ladies there was so great, pulled everything out, switched it all around, lets us push it in the car park etc. And its really compact in the boot. I couldn't believe the difference in the size of some of the carry cots, some were really huge. but the bundle discount nailed it for us in the end.

Sex is a no go here too - DH too worried due to previous MC's which has nothing to do with it but he is just too worried. However, its my 40th on Thursday, and we're going away for 2 nights to a hotel and spa so I'm hopeful if he's relaxed we might get some jiggy on! I've been dreaming about it!

What gorgeous weather, hope everyone is having a fab day x

cravingmilkshake · 24/02/2019 14:52

I spoke too soon this morning. I think I've just felt the first movements... get like 4 subtle pokes or bubbles popping! 😃😃

BeckyButterfly · 24/02/2019 15:19

@Yukka I’m pleased you’re all sorted with your pram etc and fab discount! It also makes a huge difference when the shop are accommodating. Thee is a small local shop that stocks the Oyster 3 and I really wanted to get it from there because the bloke in the shop was fab but we get discount from Mothercare so can’t turn that down really (the staff in Mothercare are completely useless though, the first woman we spoke to said you couldn’t fold the Oyster with the seat still on..!)

Also, I’ve just gotten home from my weekend away and crawled straight into bed! The bed in the hotel wasn’t comfy and I didn’t have my big pillow with me. As well as that, my mum snores unbelievably loudly so I’ve had about 3 hours sleep all weekend. My bed is heaven right now 😃

Yukka · 24/02/2019 15:30

@beckybutterfly, discounts are a major bonus .I really liked the oyster too. Hope you get some rest lack of sleep is not ideal on a weekend away!

@cravingmilkshake glad you're getting some movements now. I'm 18w today and think I had the odd movement, only if I woke up in the night when I was still, but today I think I'm definitely feeling it more, been swimming and walking so that might have woke him/her up a bit. Its early days for me really to be feeling it.

ReginaPhalange89 · 24/02/2019 16:14

I actually find babies usually need a smaller size even if they're bigger weight Wise! My first was almost 9lbs so thought my second baby would be similar , she was 7lbs 14 so still not tiny but my mum actually had to go out and get her a few 'tiny baby' things as newborn drowned her ! Lol

ReginaPhalange89 · 24/02/2019 16:18

I've just bought a pram ! Starting to feel very real/scary now ! Lol

I got (second hand) an icandy peach, with all the bits to make it a double! so frame, carrycot, 2x seat units, adaptors , joie newborn car seat , 2 foot muffs, raincovers all for £350! Not kidding it's immaculate, I'm chuffed to bits ! Not sure if we'll use the car seat as I don't think you're meant to use second hand in case it's been in an accident , but still, such a bargain for all that !

TwinkleDay · 24/02/2019 16:23

Baby clothes are cheap.. I have bought a bit.. like the rest of you in the sales got about 75% for the first 6 months and only spent £48.. and it's all cute stuff with penguins. And if the weather is anything like the previous summers they will be in vest and nappy and save the money to buy and air con unit!

I have managed one of the trellis fence panels took me 2 and half hours in this heat.. sweating in Feb! Now sat with an ice cream and a can of Diet Coke trying to not fall asleep... pregnancy wins :)

cathyj87 · 24/02/2019 17:42

I'm jealous of all of you with the lovely weather, it's so foggy and mizzly here I can't see beyond the length of the garden!
Put the deposit on a bundle yesterday- venicci soft travel set, chicco next to me co sleeper with feel accessories, bath, play mat, bouncer, high chair, changing mat and I can't remember what else! And bought a couple of wee outfits, definitely starting to feel real.

Kentishgal · 24/02/2019 18:00

Sex? My eyes nearly popped out of my head...last time was when we conceived this baby 😂 I'm just too scared I'll bleed again. Plus I've been too ill and tired!

DianaBlythe · 24/02/2019 18:02

You lot are on it! I have bought... one vest! Wanted to buy something but still feeling a bit superstitious even though I can feel it moving loads now!

Went to test a few prams today but not feeling quite ready to commit. Really like the Mamas and Papas Ocarro. Hope to see if I can find it second hand somewhere...

Does anyone know how I can tell if my 2004 car has Isofix?
