New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

@FuzzyPixel it’s really hard when it impacts your normal life though. I have found it hard at work as I teach children with special needs so there are a lot of things I’m no longer allowed to do which I hate! I understand it is to keep the bean and myself safe but it doesn’t maker it any easier to deal with 😂

FuzzyPixel · 23/02/2019 11:14

@BeckyButterfly totally get it. My volunteer work was with dogs, and there's a bit of risk there so I've had to step right back. It feels so odd not to be doing my usual routine on a Saturday or at my week day evening volunteer placement either. It's just completely stopped. I feel for you because my day to day work hasn't really been impacted, apart from a bit more working from home which works well for me.

I think another the thing for me is how conversation changes too. Just because I'm pregnant, it doesn't mean I've had a complete personality transplant - I promise I can talk about things other than the baby! As much as I love talking about it, it does feel a bit all consuming...

Luckily, a friend is rescuing me for lunch too - so we can chat about house plans. Smile

Yukka · 23/02/2019 14:32

@lavenderbellegood news on the shortlist!

@fuzzypixel have you tried swimming? It helps with the sciatica and is a good alternative. I used to road cycle a couple of time a week but don’t like being on the road when pregnant so switched to the pool. Trying to go twice a week on Thursday eve and Sunday am.

We've joined team pink!

TwinkleDay · 23/02/2019 17:48

I have been pretty tired and busy too... was planning I'm starting to paint the pergola and fences in the garden- tommorow as been out today but will see how I feel as still working 5 days a week.

Thanks for the e45 itchy cream tip, I will look it up for my spotty cleavage!

BeckyButterfly · 23/02/2019 18:02

Yay! Congratulations @ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts 😊

Giraffe888 · 23/02/2019 20:07

Congratulations on the scans and finding out baby’s sex 💙💗

Hope everyone is ok x

Twistering · 23/02/2019 20:09

Yey! Welcome to team pink @ForTheLoveofDoughnuts!

Twistering · 23/02/2019 20:14

Had a John Lewis nursery appointment and was super helpful for us clueless first timers. Highly unlikely to buy the large list of pricey stuff but definitely helped!

Really liked the iCandy Peach and the Joolz Geo prams and the Maxi Cosi Pebble Plus with Isofix - if anyone has any view/experience of any of this, please share!!

@TwinkleDay hopefully you’ll get a day like today for going in the garden, gorgeous today! 😊

ReginaPhalange89 · 23/02/2019 20:19

@twistering no experience but I'm going to look at an icandy peach tomorrow ! It's a second hand one but looks in amazing condition

Twistering · 23/02/2019 21:40

Ooh exciting! Even better cheaper if it’s cheaper! It seemed great, really easy to use, fold, steer etc.

JSCRJ · 24/02/2019 07:58

@Twistering, I'm going to book the John Lewis appointment, glad to hear it was helpful. Is there much pressure to buy something there and then?

I'm going round and round with pram research, we have a dog so I want something that's going to cope on a dog walk, but don't know how "all terrain" that really needs to be. I really like the look of the Silvercross prams but they get mixed reviews about their ability to go over stones, etc. Do any of you guys with dogs and other DCs have any tips about what I should be looking for?

PixieDust20 · 24/02/2019 08:26

Hi 👋🏼
New to this thread. Currently 19+4 with first child and EDD 17th July 🥰

FuzzyPixel · 24/02/2019 08:35

Hi JSCRJ the tips I was given were; something with excellent suspension and something with puncture proof tyres. We have two dogs so have a similar problem.

FuzzyPixel · 24/02/2019 08:35

Welcome Pixie and to the other new people who have joined recently. Smile

HchyScott · 24/02/2019 08:54

Morning ladies! It was my birthday yesterday and I’ve ne er known such gorgeous weather! It nearly always snows!

Spent the day at work and oh my, had shooting round ligament pain all day and when we went out for dinner last night. Very uncomfortable. But it makes sense, since 19 weeks the bump is rapidly expanding so I imagine lots of stretching going on inside. Hope you’ve all had lovely weekends and great to hear more good scan news and another little lady announced 💖 off to mum and dads today where we are having my requested birthday lunch, (they are both chefs, selfishly didnt pass those genes to me) lamb and leek pie followed by two puddings, peach and pear crumble or pavalova, I can’t WAIT!!

wombatron · 24/02/2019 08:58

Hi all, just checking in after another busy week. Think I've just about caught up from before the weekend. Sorry to hear all the anxiety - hope you're all feeling a bit better and good luck with the scans tomorrow and this week.

I am exactly 18 weeks today. I've had a little bit of movement this week but nothing regular, and nothing for very long. I'm starting to wonder if I'm ever going to fully pop too, though I am long of torso so maybe that's why. I also have an anterior placenta so that will dull the kicks.

Welcome to the new people. Is anyone still team yellow 💛? Lovely news on all fronts - I think we've lost our spreadsheet but I think the girls have definitely overtaken the boys now?

HchyScott · 24/02/2019 09:17

Oh and thank you @Yukka I looked into PUPPS and I’ve ruled it out as my spots are mostly on my back especially at the top and they say it closely resembles hives and mine definitely looks like spots. Was well worth looking into though so thank you for mentioning it 😊 x

FuzzyPixel · 24/02/2019 09:17

@wombatron still team yellow here although, as weird as it sounds, I've sort of gifted the decision to find out sex or not to my husband. My thought is that I get to find out and feel almost everything else first, so this is one thing I can give to him to decide what he wants. He's wavered between finding out and not, our scan is a week on Wednesday.

DianaBlythe · 24/02/2019 09:26

We are still team yellow! 21+6 now.

The sonographer at 20 week scan did ask if he was looking for gender and we said no. He said best look away for this bit when he was skirting around the pelvis. I actually didn’t realise he was going to do that so quickly so didn’t really look away. Didn’t see anything but my ultrasound reading isn’t brilliant! But then I didn’t see anything so maybe it is a girl! But we don’t know for sure...

This is baby number 1, we might want another so wouldn’t want anything that can’t be passed down to either anyway. Plus I’m keen not to force gender stereotypes on someone so tiny although obviously they’ll get all that at nursery!

Asked DH if he has any tiny preference and he would slightly prefer a girl but I think we’re both genuinely just happy with a human! We’re struggling a bit more with boys names so think it’s partly that and he wasn’t sure why else.

People keep saying “ooh a surprise, how lovely and unusual!”. It won’t be the biggest surprise in the world, it’s 50/50!

Kentishgal · 24/02/2019 09:53

Happy birthday Hchyscott - enjoy your meal - sounds lovely! The moment I start stressing about movement, baby decides to really make itself known - every time I sit or lay still, she really kicks, husband can feel it too. So I'll stop stressing...for now. Beautiful weather - hope you're all enjoying it!

TwinkleDay · 24/02/2019 10:05

Team yellow here too not finding out :) we went to the coast yesterday with the lovely weather..
Don't want to do too much I'm knackered... got our second 20 week scan tommorow afternoon.. will be 22+4! baby best be good this time- had two 12 week ones too!

Did everyone get there mat1b forms at there's? Works won't do anything without them it's highly frustrating

BeckyButterfly · 24/02/2019 10:14

20 week scan is a week on Tuesday and really can’t wait because still not feeling any movement that I can tell. I just have random aches and pains which I usually attribute to trapped wind!
My bump is quite gigantic now! I’ve been away with weekend for a girls weekend with my mum which we do regularly and strangers have begun asking me when I’m due so I must be past that fat or pregnant stage, yippee!

DianaBlythe · 24/02/2019 10:18

@TwinkleDay - No, wasn’t given my Mat1b at the scan. I think they had planned to do it at my 25 week appointment which is a little late.

I just phoned the surgery though and they did it that afternoon and left it to be collected.

Capybaras · 24/02/2019 10:21

@wombatron I'm quite tall and fairly long of torso and also feel I haven't popped yet. I'm 20+5 now and still can hide it depending on what I wear!

Happy birthday @HchyScott!

@TwinkleDay I didn't get my matb1 at my scan - have to wait until my 25week appointment when I'm exactly 25 weeks so won't be officially notifying until the day after (my boss said this is fine as he knows) even though HR says 25 weeks is the latest you can notify them!

On a different note - we're struggling with positions now for sex! Although I haven't fully popped have a bit of a bump and it's awkward getting into certain positions and my DH is worried about squashing the baby! Anyone else finding this?
