I stayed overnight at DMs kept DNephew. He is such a darling and I really wanted to spend time with him as DSister is only visiting for a few weeks. He slept brilliantly 😊 really jet lagged the poor wee man!

I don't know if ill see the next 3 weeks. Baby is really low down but bum very high in my diaphragm too and pressing quite uncomfortably on my bowels. My ankles and feet have officially swollen and my lips have too!

@melissa112 good luck!

@Angelmiracle it must be lovely to have them both back, especially at such an exciting time!

I've got a midwife appointment this morning where I'll be offered a S&S. contemplating having it - if nothing's kicked off by Friday I'll be booked in for induction, which I'd like to avoid if possible.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 11/03/2019 07:11

Glad it all worked OK with DNephew @Angelmiracle!

@mistakenholiday if you want to avoid the induction if possible I would go with it! Fingers crossed for you!

Still in labour limbo here and just frustrated now!!!!

MistakenHoliday · 11/03/2019 07:41

@SquirtlesMumAgain oh god, how long has that been now?! Must be so frustrating Sad

MyMumDimensionJumps · 11/03/2019 08:07

Congrats to everyone who has had their babies already. Glad everyone is safe and well. Smile I have been lurking for a while and joined through group ages ago, but haven't posted for a long time.

Due in 12 days with #2. I had a feeling it would be this weekend, but I'm now convinced I will be overdue, despite the baby being engaged and getting BH's a lot. No show or nesting instinct though. Some days I feel my body is ready and others I feel it will never happen! Decided now to just try to enjoy the time before the baby comes and am determined to get out today. Feel like I was stuck in all last week in pain, which wasn't fun.

Hope all is going well for you Melissa. It sounds like you have been in limbo on that ward. From what I have heard people respond quickly to to the drip. With my induction for my 1st, I had nothing, then suddenly my first contraction and my DC was born in 2hrs!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 11/03/2019 08:31

@mistakenholiday contractions started about 10am Friday, on and off all day until about 8pm (and thank goodness monitoring said they were real or I would have actually lost my mind!) then I have patches of several hours where they are every 15 mins, but never getting more regular than that. Have been getting relatively stronger over the weekend but just not for any length of time.

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy!

MyMumDimensionJumps · 11/03/2019 08:47

SquirtlesMumAgain

That sounds hard going. I hope you have managed to get some sleep. Have they checked for dilation yet? I'm not expert, but have they considered a sweep or breaking waters if there has been some dilation? Not sure how far gone you need to be for breaking waters though.

Must be hard being stuck in limbo not knowing what is going on.

LovelyFishy · 11/03/2019 09:22

SquirtlesMumAgain think I’m joining you in the odd and long start to labour. Started last night, seem really regular at times then go all over the shop! Managed to snatch a few hours sleep but who knows what today will bring.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 11/03/2019 09:26

Hopefully it speeds up for your @lovelyfishy!

I went in for reduced movements but they sent me home after they were happy eventually she was OK. I haven't seen anyone for the contractions as it were, but don't think they would see me (I admittedly haven't called to ask). Just a case of waiting it out and keeping moving and hoping!
I am booked in for induction anyway on Wednesday so only 2 more days if nothing happens.

DH's car is blocked in at work (quite normal as their car park is tiny) so hoping it's a good sign and annoyingly at lunchtime I will go into proper labour!!! The kind of luck I am having this pregnancy, but to be fair I would take it to get the baby out. Thankfully my mum is here with her car so it's not like I can't get to the hospital myself, though he would be devastated to miss the birth!

MistakenHoliday · 11/03/2019 10:08

@SquirtlesMumAgain urgh, that's just the pits. Willing the contractions to step up for you! The blocked in car sounds like a definite sign that today will be the day!

@lovelyfishy thinking speedy thoughts for you too!

I've just got back from having my stretch and sweep, booked in for induction on Friday if nothing happens Sad Apparently I'm 80% effaced and 1cm dilated but I know that this doesn't really mean that much until things really start kicking off! I also had a bit of a show so at least it's heading in the right direction... I'm going to take DD to the local farm for a massive walk around - hopefully this will jog something lose - and then a curry (maybe with pineapple?) tonight. Can you tell I'm getting desperate?!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 11/03/2019 11:56

Haha I feel you @mistakenholiday!

I was almost tempted to message my pregnant friend to steal a raspberry leaf tea off her (not buying a whole box now!) as I will try anything at the moment!!!!

Sictransitgloria · 11/03/2019 13:50

@angelmiracle I have similar - baby bum is making my tummy look almost pointy! Poor you with the swelling Flowers

@squirtlesmumagain @mistakenholiday @lovelyfishy hope things start progressing for you both. No harm trying anything to kickstart it! Would a radox bath (the one with sage in) help? It’s probably not very strong sage concentration but worth a go and help to relax you? I know nothing mind.

ballanj · 11/03/2019 16:05

@Sictransitgloria @Angelmiracle yes my little one is a bum shifter as I like to refer to him πŸ˜‚ he lays so much on one side I pretty much have a lopsided stomach most of the time.

Is it really silly that I'm dreading the thought of having a sweep more than the actual contractions and labour itself?! Feel very silly but I know I'm not good with smears so the though of a midwife swishing her fingers around up there just fills me with dread a little to be honest!

Angelmiracle · 11/03/2019 16:52

If you don't feel like it @ballanj you could put it off for a few days?? I turned down my first with DS but 5 days over i was well ready lol

CaseofEllen · 11/03/2019 17:44

Lots of people in that horrible stage of being off and on labour, thinking of you all οΏΌοΏΌ

@ballanj I'm definitely more nervous for the S&S than labour, I guess because it's a choice I'm putting myself through rather than out of my control! @Angelmiracle is right though, could always turn it down if you really don't want it. They're only something like 25% affective anyway Confused

Unfortunately I have developed the rage this evening. Poor self service assistant in Tesco just took the brunt of it Blush I wasn't trying to be rude but she was incredibly slow and unhelpful! Found it hard to be patient!

HidCat · 11/03/2019 17:54

Evening ladies, I hope you're all doing ok.

@CaseofEllen oh dear, hope you manage to have a relaxing evening!

@melissa112 I'm hoping that things are progressing for you today.

I've had a good day today, car is through it's MOT, had a potter around at home and felt pretty good after a reasonable nights sleep. Baby is very low down. Have made plans for the morning with my Mum so at least I'll be distracted if I'm not in labour lol!

march19 · 11/03/2019 18:05

Very occasional poster here but wanted to share that I think things are happening for me today. Had to see midwife this morning for suspected leaking waters and they gave me a colour changing pad to wear which seems to indicate that I do indeed have a leak. They said this would mean induction for me tomorrow morning, but since then I have had my "show" this afternoon and contractions have started. She is due tomorrow so can't fault her time keeping. All starting to feel quite real now.

MistakenHoliday · 11/03/2019 18:20

@Sictransitgloria if nothings happened by tomorrow, I'll take all the help I can get!

@ballanj I had a sweep today. It wasn't horrific, just quite uncomfortable. But I know what you mean, when you're in labour everything happens in the heat of the moment and you don't care. This was at 8.45 on a Monday morning so very 'cold light of day'. And it's my birthday today too - what a present οΏΌBlush

@march19 sounds exciting - hope things progress well!

Angelmiracle · 11/03/2019 18:32

@SquirtlesMumAgain hopefully it'll be a quick induction then if you've already been contracting for days. You must be ready for baby to come!

@MistakenHoliday happy birthday πŸŽ‚ Lovely pressie is right! Mine is on 22nd I'll be 39 weeks exactly hoping baby will be my gift πŸ˜‚

@HidCat a restful day sounds good. After the weekend babysitting and catching up with DSister I'm exhausted. I've a chicken cooked in the slow cooker but too tired to cook veg after doing DS's homework. Pencilling in a nap after school run tomorrow!!

Can definitely sympathise with the lack of patience @CaseofEllen but surely you get a free pass being so pregnant Grin

Hi all, thank you for your good wishes. Meet baby George born 7lbs 10oz this morning at 8am.

Had a horrible birth and ended up with an epidural which I had wanted to avoid but was right in the end for me..some hairy moments with babys heartbeat etc but he is here and safe. I'm very much in love!

Wineandchoccy · 11/03/2019 20:01

@melissa112 Congratulations and welcome to the world beautiful George

Wineandchoccy · 11/03/2019 20:04

DH went back to work today after 3 weeks paternity leave it’s been ok although only managed some toast and fruit for lunch as dd didn’t want to be put down so need to be more organised as to make something when she is asleep as breastfeeding makes me starving.
