Good luck @thewanderlust - hope it all goes as you hope.

I will be putting feeding DD on my birth plan as soon as possible as I wasn't allowed to with DS for about 4 hours or something daft as they couldn't find the blood test kit :(

Wineandchoccy · 13/02/2019 20:00

@CaseofEllen yes the injection is to speed the placenta removal up.

@Jenfur yes they are supposed to but dd’s got missed and nobody would listen to me that she had one and I am an ex dental nurse so know what one is Hmm eventually at 5 weeks old I got a health visitor at the weigh in clinic to watch me feed and she said something wasn’t right so sent a referral off.

@TheWanderlust how exciting good luck x

I have my final growth scan tomorrow. My back is killing me tonight I’m going to go and create s tsunami in the bathroom and have a bath Grin

CaseofEllen · 13/02/2019 20:03

@cardboard33 @Gronk27 I'm going to have a look into it, definitely something I'm interested in!

@melissa112 glad hospital bag shopping went well. Tbh I've just brought six crop top type bras from matalan for after birth, I'm going to buy nursing bras a week or so after as I have no idea what size I'll be!

I haven't heard good things about Pethidine either, it's the only thing I've definitely ruled out for pain relief xx

SquirtlesMumAgain · 13/02/2019 20:16

@caseofEllen no point buying nursing bras until 8-12 weeks PP. You need stretchy crop style until then but that doesn't mean they can't be sized.

Wineandchoccy · 13/02/2019 20:28

@CaseofEllen I have bought some stretchy bras from Mothercare and H & M. Like crop tops but the H & M ones do have drop down sides for easy access.

Dalesgirl16 · 13/02/2019 20:40

Wow thread 9!

Btw my due date is not 3/4/19 anymore as I have to have an elective caesarean on 29/3/19 now.

33 weeks today and having some slightly painful stretching actress yummy this evening. Constantly need the loo too. How are you all?

Wineandchoccy · 13/02/2019 20:43

@Dalesgirl16 painful Braxton Hicks here plus back ache I’m 39 weeks on Sunday 😮 finish work on Friday and I can’t wait

Jenfur · 13/02/2019 20:44

@Wineandchoccy oh that's rubbish that you weren't listened to. I thought it was something they should check but I remember when DS wasn't feeding well at one point, MIL kept mentioning that perhaps it was tongue tie. It wasn't but I was probably convinced it wasn't since he'd been checked at birth - interesting to know not to necessarily believe them

CaseofEllen · 13/02/2019 20:50

@SquirtlesMumAgain @Wineandchoccy oh that's great to know! Thanks my hospital bag checklist says I need to take nursing bras but I've just packed two lose crop top type ones!

@Dalesgirl16 feeling super uncomfortable now (35 weeks) didn't know I could have so much pressure in my bits without actually giving birth Blush

Xx

HidCat · 13/02/2019 20:54

Evening ladies - I hope everyone is ok!

@TheWanderlust good luck!

Dalesgirl16 · 13/02/2019 21:03

@wineandchoccy you are a champion working to the end!

Wineandchoccy · 13/02/2019 21:10

Or mad @Dalesgirl16 Grin

BadBadBeans · 13/02/2019 21:11

@TheWanderlust best of luck!

@Jenfur my DS wasn't checked for tongue tie properly by anyone until I paid a private lactation consultant in desperation when he was 7 weeks old. All the midwives did was have a look at him feeding and said he was fine. The lactation consultant (who was also an NHS tongue tie expert and ended up liaising with the NHS for us to organise a frenulotomy) actually put her finger in his mouth and immediately felt the tongue tie. She said that not many people are trained to diagnose it properly.

Thanks for all the frank replies about sex. It's very reassuring to feel that I am totally normal! I had been really worrying about it but I'm going to try to relax a bit more now and not put so much pressure/ guilt on myself.

DS had a horrendous night's sleep last night- I think I was up five times between midnight and 2.30am, and then again at 6am for keeps. Clearly he wanted to get me trained up for cluster feeding sleep deprivation! I have been knackered all day - as has he! He rounded the day off with an hour long tantrum about going to bed, which is extremely unlike him. DH was at work, jammily arriving home about five minutes after DS finally lay down and went to sleep. I am so looking forward to shutting my eyes tonight! (No sex again then...!)

Wineandchoccy · 13/02/2019 21:24

@BadBadBeans that sounds a rubbish night I hope tonight is better for you

Jenfur · 13/02/2019 21:37

@BadBadBeans Awful that it took so long for the diagnosis for you. I can't believe there are so few people trained when it seems to be so common.

Feeling your pain at the sleep as well. DS decided he would kick his duvet off about five times in the night and absolutely could not put it back on by himself. Then to top it off, I had to get up to pee about two other times (plus each time he woke up 😐) and couldn't get back to sleep when DHs alarm went off at 5:45 😴 DS had his huge bedtime tantrum last night but was pretty good tonight thankfully. Planning to take him to the wildlife park tomorrow but I'm worried how far I'll get round before my SPD is too much. IKEA almost killed me the other day 😟

SharonO225 · 13/02/2019 21:49

Hi everyone! Just checking in, can't believe it's thread 9!!

I hope all goes well for you @TheWanderlust xx

SquirtlesMumAgain · 13/02/2019 21:52

Anyone else getting the hip kicks?

It's bloomin uncomfortable! I keep wondering how on earth she is getting there!!!

Angelmiracle · 13/02/2019 22:21

@TheWanderlust wishing you a smooth induction and birth good luck!!

@kee80 hi how are you keeping?

@Wineandchoccy good mention re. tongue tie in birth plan! It seems very common recently.

Another thing you could check for birth plan @CaseofEllen is delayed cord clamping. Its only like 3 mins once baby is born - 1/3 of babys blood is in the placenta and will return to the baby after birth of cord isn't immediately clamped.

Also as I had forceps in theatre I didn't get immediate skin to skin with DS until about an hour after. This still annoys me. I'm going to be specifying even if end I up in theatre to try placing baby on me provided all is ok.

Checking in! Can't believe we're on thread 9!

@TheWanderlust wishing you a smooth induction and await your news!

Bad back is starting to feel better tonight. Hoping to have less than three toilet trips overnight as well... not helping sleep wise, that and pregnancy insomnia last night where I woke and couldn't get back to sleep. My mother is convinced baby is going to arrive next week, all because I've had back pain. I'd like him to hang on until the first week of March at least, my due day is 14th and I don't finish work for another fortnight yet!

Can I just say huge admiration for all you second time mums having to do this with another ankle biter to contend with....I commend you!

I feel knackered and uncomfortable and like I've been pregnant for years now 😂

melissa112 · 13/02/2019 22:39

@Wineandchoccy Thanks for posting the link to the crop type tops. I had on my list nursing bras for hospital but now think I'm better off waiting as others have said. For the ones you got from h&m, how do you know what size to choose? They are small, medium etc but the size guides don't seem to help much. I was a size 12 pre pregnancy but with 34F ish boobs so unsure on sizing.

I still need to dig out my tape measure and measure myself on booborbust too!

WhatALearningCurve · 13/02/2019 22:43

@SquirtlesMumAgain I'm getting the hip attacks. Incredibly uncomfortable. I'm also having attacks on my cervix ha. Feels like when (sorry if this is TMI) your partner gets a bit too over vigorous "mid activity" and hits something they shouldn't. But from the inside. It's very bizarre and off putting ha
