@Sictransitgloria I'll play a tiny violin with you as I'm one of the biggest moaners on here when it comes to heartburn/reflux. It's such a minor complaint compared to so many others the other amazing women are having to deal with on here that I do try and keep it in perspective.

Hope everyone is holding up as best they can at this final stretch. Being a FTM I for one definitely underestimated how hard this last part would be.

cardboard33 · 10/03/2019 01:18

@squirtlesmumagain & @wineandchoccy thanks!!! We've been assuming you need to put their feet at the bottom in everything so did so today for the walk and concluded we must be doing something wrong. I've already said to the husband that we will just have to put him higher up next time as I think there's more of a danger of him dying if we can't see him than if he just doesn't have his feet at the bottom, but he's a stickler for the rules... Also observation: you don't really realise how awful some pavements are until you've got something like a pram to push along!!

Hope everyone who is still in there is as happy as they can be .... @ballanj your heartburn sounds truly awful and continuous, really don't know how you manage it!!

LovelyFishy · 10/03/2019 03:29

Congratulations to everyone who’s had their lovely babies so far!! GrinFlowers

cardboard33 My 1st DD was a titch, if we put her feet and the bottom plus pram cover we’d never have seen her for months! We settled on half the pram cover plus blankets, etc, which worked out fine for us. Not sure what we’ll do this time round as our buggy converts to a double but puts new baby underneath the first, so to speak! Think I’ll be doing a lot of bend and check!

I’ll sign up for the heartburn/reflux club. I’ve woken a few times in the night from it now, coughing and spluttering - yuk!

In a way I wish that was why I’m awake now, at least there’d be a reason rather than just β€œpregnancy” - gah!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 10/03/2019 07:43

Oh no @lovelyfishy the annoying pregnancy wake up! I'm the only one awake at the moment in the house - DH was up with DS in the night as he has had a horrible cough so I'm glad they are asleep but annoying I can't be too.

melissa112 · 10/03/2019 12:56

Still waiting Sad thoroughly fed up and miserable now. 2nd pessary worked so I was dialated enough for them to break my waters yesterday but it still hasn't been done so I'm sat on the ward still..the contractions have stopped completely now and the pain has gone. The delivery ward is busy and when there is a gap they prioritise those with the higher need which is fair enough but because nothing's happening with me I feel like I'll never be the higher need.

I asked if they'd send me home and she said no and said she honestly couldn't say whether I'd be moved down to delivery today. DP paternity will start tomorrow if he stays off so I've told him he should go into work but it means another evening and then day in here alone with no sign of when it could happen and no way to go home.

Just had a bit of a cry. I've been here since Wednesday and looking like I could be in here days before I even get started, not to mention the actual labour bit. They've given me a ball so going to try bouncing on that to try and shift things on a bit.

CaseofEllen · 10/03/2019 13:31

Oh @melissa112 that does sound utterly rubbish! I'm really sorry you're still there, especially on the ward. I think it's sensible for DP to go to work so he can make the most of his paternity leave when baby is here but doesn't make it easy for you!

So they won't break your waters because the delivery ward is busy? I really hope something happens for you soon. Thinking of you xx

ballanj · 10/03/2019 14:07

@melissa112 I've been waiting to hear your update, you poor thing! It sounds so hard for you. Definitely makes sense for your OH to go to work save his leave kicking in and you can make the most of it together, but appreciate you'll find it hard at the same time. Is there someone you can speak to, to try and gauge what the realistic timeframe is given that they are obviously having to prioritise cases. At the same time you need to know there's a plan for you as you've been there so long and surely it doesn't benefit them either with you being there so much longer than you have to be. Have you got people who can come by and visit you when your OH goes back to work?

SquirtlesMumAgain · 10/03/2019 14:14

Sorry you're still stuck @melissa112. Same here with the contractions stopping instead of progress - really sorry you're stuck in hospital for it all.
Have you seen a consultant to discuss a plan?

HidCat · 10/03/2019 15:24

@melissa112 that's so frustrating I really feel for you. Fingers crossed it not too much longer.

Jenfur · 10/03/2019 16:49

@melissa112 that's really awful for you. Obviously there are priority cases especially when busy but they must know what this is doing to you emotionally which isn't going to help anyone. Fingers crossed they see you soon to give you a time frame.
Agree with the others that DP should go back to work to prolong paternity if nothing is happening but definitely sucks that you're on your own then. Do you have family or friends nearby who aren't working tomorrow that could come visit to break the day up for you?

MistakenHoliday · 10/03/2019 18:14

Oh @melissa112 that's so rubbish! Sounds like a really difficult situation, especially the extended stay in hospital. DP going back to work sounds better in the long run, as miserable as it will be now. Think of all those early days naps when he can have the baby for so you can catch up on sleep x

Dalesgirl16 · 10/03/2019 18:24

.@melissa112 hoping things have progressed for you!

How are we pregnant girls? I'm feeling so immobile today! I had to eat my dinner and rush away from the table to lie down just now. I'm 36 weeks and the baby is v big with head off the scale. I feel he has dropped and I'm so sore all over. Got caesarean in three weeks but keep thinking that just cos he's so big I'm going to go into labour early! Probably more tired this time cos I have a toddler. How do I keep her entertained these last few weeks!

Wineandchoccy · 10/03/2019 18:39

@melissa112 I’m sorry you are having such a rubbish time I did 2 days of induction before they broke my waters and it felt like forever so I feel for you. I really hope once you get to delivery suite you have a quick last stage

SquirtlesMumAgain · 10/03/2019 20:22

Good luck entertaining the toddler @Dalesgirl16 - I couldn't cope without my mum here, just so tired!!!
DS wants lots of physical play, which he knows I can't really do but then it is so hard to say no. He is so excited about being a bit brother though which balances it out.

melissa112 · 10/03/2019 20:22

Thanks all. I'm now in delivery suite and on the drip. Feel very scared about what's to come! Cannula was horrible to get in but fingers crossed for a smooth ish ride. Will catch up later Smile

Sictransitgloria · 10/03/2019 20:26

@melissa112 thinking of you. You can do this! You have had such a tough old time. Can’t wait to hear your birth announcement which I hope is soon :)

SquirtlesMumAgain · 10/03/2019 20:40

Good luck @melissa112 - come on baby!

Jenfur · 10/03/2019 20:48

@melissa112 Good luck, you'll soon be announcing the birth and we all can't wait! Fingers crossed for a smooth and quick labour now after the last few days you've had.

CaseofEllen · 10/03/2019 20:56

@melissa112 so glad you're on delivery suite! I'm sure it won't be too long now - you got this! Can't wait to hear baby is here safe and sound x

Gronk27 · 10/03/2019 21:16

@melissa112 wishing you all the best x

HidCat · 10/03/2019 21:47

@melissa112 good luck!

Wineandchoccy · 10/03/2019 21:53

@melissa112 good luck you are on the final stretch and will soon be a Mummy x

ballanj · 10/03/2019 22:34

@melissa112 so glad, wishing you lots of luck and can't wait to hear your birth announcement. Rooting for you!

Hi @melissa112 - hope you're doing as well as can be and your baby is very nearly with us... you're so close now, even though it feels like you've still got a mountain to climb. I know it's easy to say but you just need to relax in the knowledge that the people looking after you do this day in day out and therefore they wouldn't do anything to harm you or the baby even though from the outsiders perspective it seems like they might be doing so. Let us know how you get on - agree with the others that your partner should go to work tomorrow (if nothing has happened by then) to maximise the time he can take off with you and your son even though I know that will be really hard for you tomorrow.
