@Angelmiracle I’ve had two growth scans. One at 29 weeks as I was measuring 3 weeks ahead and another at 35 weeks following the GD diagnosis. Both showed baby was normal size thank god (though I’m still consistently measuring 3 weeks ahead)!! They’re inducing at 39 weeks as I’m now taking metformin for the GD which apparently can impact the performance of the placenta after 40 weeks.

Seeing as any birth plan I might have had has now gone out of the window (restricted to labour ward rather than midwife led unit), I’m actually quite relieved to have a bit of certainty around timing and know I’m not going to be sitting around waiting for weeks. It was weird though to go from one week thinking I had 4, probably 6 weeks to go, to the next week finding it would only be 2-3, which suddenly seems so much closer!

Wineandchoccy · 14/02/2019 02:01

@melissa112 I bought a size medium. I’m normally a size 12 and a 32E. Mine were on the sale rail for Β£6 in store so if you have a H & M nearby may be worth checking it out.

kee80 · 14/02/2019 07:14

@Angelmiracle I'm good thanks, just the usual tired, can't wait to finish work! Finishing 1st March so not long now, plus have next week off so only 6 days left after today!

This thread is really busy, so hard to catch up with everyone haha.

Hope you are doing good!

I have a stretch and sweep booked in for 6th March when I'll be 38wks if I don't go into labour naturally then have a c-section booked in for my due date 19th March BlushSmile

HidCat · 14/02/2019 07:17

@Angelmiracle I'm ok thanks, achey and Braxton Hicks aren't great but only 3 weeks left in work at most and 4 weeks to due date! Got my 36week appointment today to go through birth plan etc with the midwife.

I think it's very fitting that we've essentially had one thread per month of our pregnancies! Thread 10 will most likely be post natal! πŸ˜ƒ We really are on the final countdown now with a few early arrivals expected and so many reaching the 38week mark. Having said that, someone asked me when I was due yesterday and I said anytime in the next 6weeks (allowing for 2 weeks over) and it didn't seem so imminent then lol

SquirtlesMumAgain · 14/02/2019 08:07

Exactly that @whatalearningcurve!

@ballanj I am very glad my ankle biter is almost 4 and can generally do most things himself! No idea how I would have coped with Nappies to deal with as well - wiping his bum has been hard enough at bad sickness points!

BadBadBeans · 14/02/2019 10:00

@SquirtlesMumAgain I've had baby kick me in the hip and the thigh when I lie curled up so that the bump is touching them! It's a really bizarre feeling and I don't remember it happening with DS.

@Jenfur sounds like our little scamps are both getting us in training for a newborn! I am terrible on so little sleep - I was really struggling yesterday afternoon! Fortunately he did a 12 hour stonker of a snooze last night, which gave me a beautiful 9 hours in which I only got up once to pee. Small joys!

I just got my MA notification back - thanks so much to everyone who posted their timings for me! I know there are a couple still waiting, so to give you an idea, I got a text on 26th Jan saying they had received my application, and a letter today confirming I would get the full amount. Relief!

Gronk27 · 14/02/2019 10:46

@badbadbeans glad you've got your letter. I am eagerly awaiting my first proper payment tomorrow!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 14/02/2019 11:06

I got my adjusted letter this morning with full amount awarded now so that's a huge relief!
I'm theoretically working until 4th March so I just need to wait to send the form off now

Angelmiracle · 14/02/2019 11:48

@Jellybean023 my midwife measures me at 2 weeks ahead but all scans have me spot on for dates with baby on 50th percentile. Who knows! Yeah a certain date would be more appealing I must say πŸ˜‚

@HidCat you are another trooper working so close to EDD. I'll have 3 weeks leave prior to mat leave and was trying to convince myself 2 weeks leave would be enough but with only 7 working days left I don't think I can change my mind now πŸ€”

After doing the online positive birth company course my birth plan appointment could be a long one πŸ˜‚

@squirtlesmumagain good news! It's certainly a relief isn't it!

@angelmiracle My midwife asked if I'd been to any classes and said 'oh the classes at the women's are very imformative anyway' then I said I'd done hypnobirthing and she said she was doing a course as well and lots of the midwives including the lady than runs the birth centre are hypnobirthing trained. She said to definitely mention it both in plan and on the phone as you may not sound as 'in labour'. She seemed to think we wouldn't have much to talk about as it would've all been covered. She just went through a few things like general birth place, pain relief, placenta, vitamin k. I think she recorded the conversation? I'm going to print out the Positive Birth Co. example one and fill that out and take a few copies with me.

Angelmiracle · 14/02/2019 12:22

@kee80 I finish on the 1st also! Oh wow you could potentially have baby soon after you finish which would be good. But at least you know you're not going past due date. My sister will not be pleased if I go over 3 days as she flies back home after that Confused

Gronk27 · 14/02/2019 12:43

Would you wash everything for baby? Bed sheets, sleeping bags, muslins, bibs, snowsuits-the works. A mixture of brand new and secondhand (from friends/family). The newborn-0-1 clothes are in the wash as I type!

Angelmiracle · 14/02/2019 12:49

@Gronk27 I will ask my community midwife on Monday if they are trained on hypnobirthing or if they are happy to accommodate your 'preferences' as our trust can definitely be behind the times in that regard! Hopefully they don't mind.

I have just finished all the videos but really need to practice the techniques. While the info was great I still am anxious following DS birth. And also still awaiting my birth choices appointment with consultant midwife which I hope answers some of my issues.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 14/02/2019 12:51

We have this time @Gronk27 but we didn't with everything last time as we had to get emergency tiny baby clothes so they went on straight out of the packet

Angelmiracle · 14/02/2019 12:51

@Gronk27 I have washed all those items you've listed - new and those I had in storage. Its just preference really!

OP posts:
BadBadBeans · 14/02/2019 12:58

@Gronk27 I've washed all those things. Also stripped pram / carrycot covers and washed those as I got them second-hand from a friend.

Question: are you supposed to get new pram carrycot mattresses? I think I'm going to as it's been through two babies, neither of which were mine...

Gronk27 · 14/02/2019 12:59

@angelmiracle @squirtlrsmumagain I reckon it’s worth it for piece of mind to know everything is fresh.

Angel, I love the Positive affirmations and do those every day unless I decide to do one of the other ones on their place occasionally, I put them on before sleep and spray my pillow with this works pillow spray which I play to take with me for a flannel to hold. I practise my breathing most days as well. Hope you get some positive answers and feel in control and like you have choices xx

Gronk27 · 14/02/2019 13:01

@badbadbeans yep I think I’m going to go with-if it can be washed it will be, plan to steam clean the next to me cot I got from my friend as well. I got a replacement mattress for it. Not sure about pram mattresses. Go with your gut maybe?

BadBadBeans · 14/02/2019 13:22

@Gronk27 I did wash absolutely everything for DS just for peace of mind. I had a Moses basket secondhand for him, and I gave that a good wipe down with a weak Milton solution and then let it dry in the garden in full sun (it was summertime!). I put all his baby clothes and blankets away clean in boxes, but I've washed them all since getting them out again. I'd rather know they are starting nice and fresh!

Yes my gut is telling me to replace the mattress. The pram had been in their attic as well, so I would rather just get a new one. I'll measure up and see what I can find online.

This morning I did a bit of a stash up of certain products that are a PITA for me to buy - a few bottles of my favourite brand of shampoo and conditioner that comes from Holland and Barratt, things like that. I feel like some kind of mad keen prepper, but I don't want to run out of stuff in the first few weeks after baby is here (when I won't be able to drive), and have DH go out and inevitably buy the wrong thing!

Gronk27 · 14/02/2019 13:58

@badbadbeans my brand of dry shampoo is only in certain shops so when I saw it in Boots the other day I got some and also got a huge pack of toilet rolls! I’m doing the same!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 14/02/2019 14:20

Definitely worth stashing stuff that won't spoil! We have par bake bread and tins of soup etc

Gronk27 · 14/02/2019 14:57

Opinions on tumble drying baby clothes?!

SoBoredOfWaiting · 14/02/2019 15:03

Hi all! Can't believe we are on thread 9!
@Gronk27 I have been putting them all in the tumble dryer and all ok so far!
@badbadbeans such a good idea! I think I will start to get some of the essentials. Hoping it won't be too bad as I will still probably do an online shop if it is needed.
How is everyone else? Hope you are all well!
I am starting to get clothes etc ready and starting to think of foods to batch cook as I go on maternity leave after next week! Please let me know if you guys have any good recipes or ideas for this!
Also, been suffering from severe case of 'fanny daggers' Blush - anyone else?!
Happy Valentines ladies!

Angelmiracle · 14/02/2019 15:10

@Gronk27 I have tumbled dried all those things too. I don't think they've shrunk Grin
