Baby will take what it needs so calcium and things needed for hair and nails are common to struggle in pregnancy. I've been lucky thing time but my finger nails broke loads last time. My hair hasn't been radiant but I am certain it's the dehydration that I seem to have been suffering in general.

Hope you can have a restful day @wineandchoccy. Have you arranged for DD to go somewhere tomorrow so DH can be with you?
At the moment what to do with DS is my biggest worry about labour - sure it'll change once it all starts!!!

Wineandchoccy · 16/02/2019 08:31

@CaseofEllen I would have preferred a few days off but it’s my own fault for being stubborn and working until the bitter end.

@SquirtlesMumAgain E is going to my parents so I hope the induction doesn’t take to long and we can all be back together soon. They usually have her Monday and Tuesday anyway when I am at work so it won’t seem that unusual for an extra day.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 16/02/2019 09:55

That's good news that it is normal for her. Fingers crossed it doesn't take long.

The only thing I remember last time about the induction part was how sick it made me so make sure you have spare clothes for labouring in! I really hope it doesn't hit you like that

CaseofEllen · 16/02/2019 10:01

@BadBadBeans thanks, I will do that!

@Wineandchoccy stubborn but brilliant! I couldn't do it. At least you'll have more time off with LO once they're here!

Rang delivery suite to get results from urine sample supposed to be sent off last Sunday as there was traces of protein and blood so suspected infection. Midwife said they must have labelled it wrong and it never got sent away so there are no results! She's asked me to go back in this morning due to the leaking and cramping xx

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 16/02/2019 10:10

@CaseofEllen that's so rubbish! Good luck when you go in this morning x

Has anyone else been having really vivid dreams about giving birth? I've had them pretty much every night this week.

I've also woke up massively uncomfortable this morning. We went out for dinner last night and I was sitting there shifting my weight all night as I was so so uncomfortable but put it down to eating too much. Looking back I ate less than I normally do. I've got a sore back and pressure into my bum/tail bone. It also looks like the baby has dropped.

Wineandchoccy · 16/02/2019 10:36

@SquirtlesMumAgain same here I was so sick last time really not looking forward to it but the end prize is pretty special so all worth it

Wineandchoccy · 16/02/2019 10:38

@CaseofEllen yes very true.
How frustrating for you hope tomorrow goes ok.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 16/02/2019 12:27

@assumeitwassomethingclever yep about the dreams, though last night's was a bit of a mix between giving birth and getting food somewhere where you get a table number... You had to go in and book your slot and wait until your number was called to go and give birth... Very strange indeed!!!

Hope they get an answer for you @caseofEllen. Must be stressful, especially when they don't do what you are expecting.

Has anyone not having a C-section been told they need to meet with anaesthetist?

Angelmiracle · 16/02/2019 14:02

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever yes first dream about my own baby last night (I had been dreaming about other people's last week!) I gave birth to a baby boy at my office got dressed and brought him back to my desk πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@CaseofEllen hope all went well this morning x

@SquirtlesMumAgain I haven't though I've read different threads where people mentioned seeing anaesthetist due to high BMI so wondered if I might. I ended with a spinal with DS in theatre without problems so maybe not.

melissa112 · 16/02/2019 14:16

@CaseofEllen hope all went ok this morning for you

@SquirtlesMumAgain how's the bump pain this morning? Hope you managed to get some sleep.

@HidCat how are you getting on with the BH pains today? Hope you're feeling ok.

@cardboard33 I don't feel like I've had loads of appointments as such but as I've been in and out of hospital so much for scans and ctgs the past few weeks I feel like I'm there too much but thankfully all been ok which is the main thing. I haven't had my regular appts with midwife when I've been monitored so keen to pick things up again at the 38 week one to go through birth plan.

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I've had loads of vivid dreams but not about baby. Just people from my past who I haven't seen or spoken to for years. Very weird. The last 3 nights I've barely slept apart from the dreams. Very frustrating.

After moaning about shrinking baby clothes I actually bothered to read the tumble dryer manual and found that the timed setting I.e. 30 mins, 1 hour etc is low heat πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ so potentially shrunk it all needlessly. Got a batch in there now on 30 mins so fingers crossed it's still an ok size when they're done!

Had another growth scan yesterday and baby gone from 4 lbs 14oz at 34+1 to 6lb 3oz at 36+1. They were happy enough with growth but that just feels quite big with still potentially nearly 6 weeks to go if I go over.

However the consultant said that due to the reduced movements they may want to induce me at 37 weeks which terrified me. I've got an appt with another consultant on Monday afternoon to discuss. My gut feeling is that they won't though as baby has been ok on ctgs and scans and they did say to induce me at 37wks would have higher risk of intervention. Definitely getting my bag packed today though just incase!

wordsmithereens · 16/02/2019 15:13

Checking in! Keep falling off the thread, just finding the format hard to get a hold of.

38 weeks today and fighting off a cold, but mainly emotionally a bit all over the place for the past week. It's hard to work out what's just hormones and what's anticipation about baby's arrival. Keep having crying spells where I'm terrified I'll just be an awful mum and not able to cope, and can't quite wrap my head around what it'll be like once she's actually here. Feels very abstract, and like I can't link it with the actual real babies people in my local mumsgroups are starting to have? So far I'm bouncing back after, but it's not very pleasant while I'm inside it. :(

Gronk27 · 16/02/2019 15:51

@wordsmithereens it’s a very overwhelming time in general. Viruses can make you feel low, never mind being heavily pregnant and hormonal. Hope you have supportive ears and shoulders around you. Xx

SquirtlesMumAgain · 16/02/2019 16:21

@wordsmithereens it is a really hard feeling. I know it well from post DS and if you do still feel it when she is here please mention it to someone. You don't need to suffer and feel this way in silence.

Bump pain is better today @melissa112 - thank you for asking. I have had a restful day (just had a nap!) so I think it probably was just doing too much yesterday.
Have stupidly some how managed to cut inside my ear so currently trying to stop it!

@Angelmiracle that is interesting about it being due to raised bmi so I guess that's probably what it is here. We didn't have that in Surrey before. I had DS on gas & air as the anaesthetist was stuck in theatre when I decided I would like something stronger. I hope that having done it once I can do it again as obviously I could do it! (and that doesn't mean everyone shouldn't have whatever pain relief they feel comfortable with!)

CaseofEllen · 16/02/2019 16:51

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Went in and had the usual monitoring and another speculum, doctor said he still didn't think my waters had broken so that's good news. Went to the bathroom on the way home and had loads more water, dripping down my leg οΏΌ just going to have to keep an eye on it, they said it could be heavy discharge which makes sense at this stage.

@melissa112 wow! Totally get why you're nervous for induction at 37 weeks but at least baby will be classed as full term Grin

@SquirtlesMumAgain yes I had an anaesthetist appointment (due to raised BMI I think). She actually said that they are supposed to check they would be able do an epidural etc but wasn't concerned with me so we just discussed pain relief options xx

Angelmiracle · 16/02/2019 17:40

@SquirtlesMumAgain must ask midwife on Monday if I'll get that appointment also. I managed the whole labour with gas and air but the spinal was the last half hour for forceps. Was a pity he was stuck I was mostly there. Just not sure if I can endure it all another time but keeping up with the hypnobirthing I might be surprised!

Hope all is well with @TheWanderlust πŸ’

After having my waters broken at 11:35pm last night, our little girl came into the world in quite a hurry at 5:42am this morning, weighing 7lb 6oz

CaseofEllen · 16/02/2019 18:01

@TheWanderlust congratulations Thanks

melissa112 · 16/02/2019 18:05

@wordsmithereens hope you're doing ok. It all gets a bit overwhelming at times doesn't it and the hormones don't help. I hope you have somebody you can talk to about how you're feeling. Can't help with having to fight off a cold too, makes you feel rubbish. Sending hugs xx

@SquirtlesMumAgain glad the pain is better today after some rest and relaxation Smile

@CaseofEllen that is good news about your waters. Just keep an eye on things and I'm sure they'll be more than happy if you give them a call if you're concerned again

melissa112 · 16/02/2019 18:06

@TheWanderlust oh wow congratulations on your beautiful bahy girl ❀ hope you're doing ok xx

SquirtlesMumAgain · 16/02/2019 18:11

Congratulations @thewanderlust!
Hope you're settling well into life with a tiny!

Gronk27 · 16/02/2019 18:32

Congratulations @thewanderlust! Beautiful!!

wordsmithereens · 16/02/2019 18:48

@Gronk27 @Squirtlesmumagain @melissa112 Thanks - I've re-referred to perinatal MH team just in case and will see what comes of that (and whether in time for baby!) Ironically the thing that balances me most is usually normalising stuff like this, but there is a line somewhere.

@melissa112 Good luck with the induction stuff, can imagine that's stressful as well. Though in a way you'd have a schedule to work to so that could also be reassuring? Hope it's the outcome you're wishing for, though.

@TheWanderlust She is so, so adorable. :)

HidCat · 16/02/2019 19:01

@melissa112 I've been out all day today and they've been hitting quite hard but not getting too frequent. They've eased since I got home and put my pjs on though so not too worried. I hope it's good news for you induction wise and baby sounds like a nice healthy weight for gestation, it's just an estimate anyway and growth is about half a pound a week I've been told so that would be about 8lb at 40weeks.

@wordsmithereens I hope you're doing ok. Hormones can send us loopy at the best of times but reach out to your midwife if it doesn't improve.

@CaseofEllen I'm glad you've been checked over, that's a lot of discharge though 😳

@TheWanderlust congratulations! How are you feeling this evening?

TheWanderlust · 16/02/2019 19:14

@HidCat a little sleepy, and tender as had to be stitched for a 2nd degree tear Confused but other than that, pretty good.... I am actually craving fresh fruit and steamed veggies ... first pregnancy craving has arrived a little late πŸ˜‚
