@welshweasel I have now never wanted to eat anything more ever in my life than what you are eating right now! Will be dreaming of cheese and crusty bread all day lol

Yakadee · 25/01/2019 09:30

@welshweasel - that'll be me next week! (Hopefully the breakfast too!).

I'm already annoyed today. The same whole outside my house is being dug up as they're replacing the gas pipe. Obviously this is very inconvenient but thankfully I have a drive (although not very easy to actually get on it). I had a card posted through saying that needed access to my house at 9am this morning to turn the gas off, so rushed my son to nursery to get back in time and when I got back, asked a guy and he said it was posted in error! So, I rushed for nothing and had already cancelled my plans for nothing! He was very nice of course but said 30 mins ago he'd come and chat to me - he hasn't and I want to go out!

The worst bit, it still means that the no heat, no hot water or hob is yet to come and he said it defo won't be done before baby is here next Tues! 😩😩😩

Anyway, rant over! X

lanalawr · 25/01/2019 10:33

@welshweasel I'm jealous! We've still got an unopened packet of crackers after Christmas. I think I might live off cheese and pate for the first few weeks after the baby is born.

mummymummymummummum · 25/01/2019 10:36

I'm aiming for a VBAC @AmberRose17 Last time I was induced, and got as far as them just being able to break my waters before the decision was made to have a caesarean due to reduced movements. So no real experience of labour either.

I'm planning a hospital birth, but using a birthing pool. Hopefully the one room with a pool will be available! If not I'll be pushing to use a midwife led room instead (they're on the same delivery suite).

My local hospital are being supportive. Apparently I'm an excellent candidate for a VBAC.

maxiflump1 · 25/01/2019 11:09

@Yakadee and @Since2016 how long before your due date are your sections booked for? I've finally had my date through today and it's for Tues 5th when I'll be 39+4. Seems a bit close to me!!

Yakadee · 25/01/2019 11:34

@maxiflump1 - finally you've got a date! I'm 39+2 and yes I agree, it does feel very close. I take it they had nothing sooner? I know they have to factor in only being able to do them mon - Fri x

maxiflump1 · 25/01/2019 11:51

@Yakadee I think it's because my due date is a Friday so rules out the first few days of the 39th week as they are the weekend. Let's hope I hold on that long!! Relieved to finally have a date though!

Yakadee · 25/01/2019 11:53

@maxiflump1 - what actual date is that? X

Since2016 · 25/01/2019 12:10

@maxiflump mine is booked for 38+6 - 39 on the nose would have been a Friday - not ideal. Were you late with your first? 39 +4 seems a little close - I take it there was nothing earlier?

That’s great that your hospital are supportive @mummymummymumumum. Mine are pretty good too, though I can’t have a full on water birth due to monitoring. My midwife said yesterday that if things go well I could have a bath/shower if needed and they are keen to help keep women as active as poss. I’ve been reading up a lot on labour and doing the positive birth co digital course online as I have forgotten everything from my previous antenatal classes! I’m a bit excited now. 38+3 so he could come any time! When are you due?

mummymummymummummum · 25/01/2019 12:32

@AmberRose17 I am lucky that they're happy for me to use water. I think they've got a device that allows them to monitor baby in the water.

I'm due 10th Feb, so 37+5 today. Very close to you! Been getting some period pain and lots of downward pressure. Hopefully that's a good sign. My firsts head never engaged so this is all new to me!

maxiflump1 · 25/01/2019 12:40

@Yakadee section date is Tues 5th and due date is Fri 8th

@Since2016 DS was a day late although I went into labour on my due date. They only communicated the day by text (!) so i haven't been able to discuss it with anyone. Have midwife on Monday so will discuss with her.

Since2016 · 25/01/2019 12:44

I guess if that’s the only space they have then that’s what’s available. Large teaching hospital?

I’m sure it’ll be fine - although I went into labour +2 days over but after a sweep, but still quite close.

See what MW says although it may well be down to availability and as it’s within the 39th week - the tolerance. Annoying though! I’m due 15th and section the 7th x

@Since2016 it is a busy hospital and I do understand. I think I had just mentally prepared myself for it being the end of next week and need to readjust!!!

Since2016 · 25/01/2019 13:07

No I totally get what you mean - i think it’s probably also given how little notice you have been given. I was expecting mine to be the following week as my due date also falls on a Friday so hadn’t anticipated it would be before 39weeks really.

OP posts:
Yakadee · 25/01/2019 13:12

Mine is 29/01 - feels so close now! I've just re-packed the hospital bags and only have a few bits to get which is easy enough. Have a fairly busy weekend so hopefully it'll be here before you know it! I have to go give blood on Monday as my pre-assessment was too far away so have to go back.

Just keeping everything crossed that she doesn't try make an appearance before (hopefully not, was 6 days over with DS and was induced) x

Fredthespider · 25/01/2019 14:22

@maxiflump I assume you're staying local and not heading into town? They've been very busy recently. One of the antenatal girls was meant to be induced last Sunday, but they didn't manage to get her a bed until Tuesday evening. She was quite unwell and they were inducing early so I was a bit shocked that they couldn't fit her in sooner!

Still, at least you have a date. I'm due on the 4th so may well see you in there :)

detachablehoof · 25/01/2019 14:36

to the PP who said about baby's movements being painful - YES! I think my baby is back to back as I get little lumps poking out of my bump and it hurts so much! I press them to make it move but that hurts too! Poor little thing must be so cramped.

anyone here planning to use a TENS machine? Was wondering about buying one but really wondering if there is any point as I am pretty sure I'll go overdue and need to be induced - in which case I guess I'll be having an epidural straight off.

My anxiety about the whole thing isn't great - I'm a control freak and I hate not knowing what's going to happen or when. Husband thinks I should ask for a section so at least I can plan around that. But I'm not sure that I'm any less scared of that!

38+4 and I'm finally starting to wash baby's clothes so I can pack its bag ... and then I need to pack mine!

lanalawr · 25/01/2019 14:42

I bought a TENS machine last time (I left it too late to hire and it wasn't much more expensive to buy one). It was just a cheap Boots one. I didn't find it helped much but didn't really have pain anyway. My friend used one in early labour and swears by it now! I don't have any experience of induction but you don't have to have an epidural with one.

Notquiteagandt · 25/01/2019 14:51

@detachablehoof boots hire tens machines out. Maybe worth a look?

I am being induced next week and planning for hopefully a water birth. I have been told they will try a peccessary, then if that doesnt work a drip, then if that doesnt work a stronger drip.

Providing I dont need the last drip and mine and babys obs are all ok.

I can move about, have an active labour and get in the water (as they have special drip covers or something) it is only the 2nd drip that you need to be stuck on bed.

So I know every labour is differant and you cant plan. But dont dismiss induction as being tied to the bed with an epidural.

mummymummymummummum · 25/01/2019 14:53

@detachablehoof I hired a ElleTENS machine from Birth Ease last time and have done the same this time. You won't get an epidural immediately if you're induced! I found the TENS did a brilliant job last time, even more so when I had to take it off and realised how much pain I had without it! I was induced last time.

maxiflump1 · 25/01/2019 15:44

@Fredthespider gosh that's not good about your antenatal friend! Hoping now I have a date that it sticks! We could indeed be in at the same time!!

powkin · 25/01/2019 16:06

36 weeks today and baby’s weight was estimated at 8lbs! I’m only 5’2”! I know it can be wrong so not sure how much to panic! The tummy was big at 20 weeks and now at 36 weeks too (short legs, big stomach like her mum 🙄). Seeing the obstetrician on Monday so can chat to them then. My bloods came back normal for gestational diabetes so maybe they are just a weird shape.

Yakadee · 25/01/2019 16:08

@powkin - I was just thinking about you. Glad everything is OK (Even if baby is bigger than expected). It's amazing what you can manage. I've heard bigger babies are easier to get out x

Notquiteagandt · 25/01/2019 16:14

@powkin are you seeing the OB for stomach measurements specificially or just because they are big? I am curious as my baby is the same. Small and chunky. Short legs smaller head but a bigger stomach measurement. Can see little rolls on arms and legs on scan too 😍 5lb4 at 35wks though. So ashuming most her weight is in her stomach.

No one has ever mentioned it being an issue and I have had near weekly scans if thats any reassurance Flowers
