To add, he’s been moving loads, and I had midwife on Tuesday where his heart rate etc. was fine (I should’ve asked her then... but I’ve been ignoring it).

@Surprisedmom - congratulations! Bet that was a bit of a shock! Glad you're both OK.

@lanalawr - I wish but unfortunately not. I was told it was 'life saving' and therefore they just had to get on with it! But hey, I'm alive and I recovered. I had a section this time (elective) and this was very much part of the reason why. I actually lost more blood this time so I must just be a bleeder??

@Camsie30 - congratulations!!! Glad all went well!

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking - not sure what 'normal' is (I've never started on my own) but would say if you're in pain or feeling really wet etc might just be worth a call. Either way, at least you'll know it's all normal etc

Good luck everyone with baby's still to come xx

Crikey @Yakadee - you're superwoman to have managed that! I can't even imagine.

@lanalawr - to be fair, didn't know it was that bad, just really hurt. Then some woman burst into the room and was like, 'why doesn't this woman have anything ' - thank you random woman. I thought I was just being a whimp! X

Congratulations on all the new arrivals everyone, I can't keep up!!!

Solidarity to those feeding/not sleeping with their new bundles. I remember those early days well, it's so hard and I don't think anyone finds it easy so you're not on your own. That's the bit I'm dreading!

Hi all, I fell off the thread at about 20 weeks and into the Facebook group but I know there's lots of people who helped me with all my random queries at the start who aren't in the group so wanted to thank you :) and to tell you I had a beautiful baby boy last week, 6lb2. He's absolutely gorgeous of course Smile
Best of luck to all of you who haven't delivered yet, and congrats to those who have!!

@bubblybrit she is gorgeous! Your feeding experience sounds very like mine, he will only feed properly from the right so I'm using a shield on the left which helped loads but see how you get on without first. He also was very lazy to start with. The midwives told me to blow on his face when he stops or to wiggle a finger just under his jaw by his ear.

AvoidingMarking · 14/02/2019 13:49

@bubblybrit sounds totally normal. Their stomachs are only the size of marbles at first.

Have you got any lanisoh? Slather it on and let the air get to your nipples when you can.

Please ask for support with feeding if you need it or are worried about the latch.

I've just posted about feeding on the postnatal thread. I'm also unsure about what I should be doing and what I should expect.

So I've just had another exam (honestly I hate them so much, both times it's made me cry my eyes out) and I'm slightly more dilated than I was 12 hours ago and waters are ready to break. So relieved that my 33 hours of contracting haven't been totally fruitless and I won't need a pessary. Once there is space on the delivery suite they will break my waters (and give me gas and air thankfully!!) and put me straight onto the drip.
Given that vaginal exams have made me cry I think I'll be having an epidural straight away (and I can't wait for it!!).
Contractions aren't getting any more regular so I'm going to go for a walk. They seem to be mainly in my back 🤔 I hope baby hasn't turned back to back

Congratulations to those who've had their little ones!

My exam was the worst bit of my labour... I could’ve kicked the midwife in the face for it!

Don’t write yourself off just yet.

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking that is by far the most encouraging thing anyone has said to me all day 😁🤗

Ah bless you! Epidurals are there if you want one... but definitely have more faith in yourself 👌🏼

@detachablehoof Hopefully there will be space for you soon. Remember you can decline an exam if you'd prefer. Or ask them to leave it another hour or two or more. Good luck!

Thank you @FrowningFlamingo. So pleased to hear that your little boy has also arrived - congrats! I am pleased that she latched onto my other breast this afternoon and seemed to have a good feed. Still bloody sore though! X

@AvoidingMarking. Oh I’m pleased to know that it is normal. I bought Lansinoh but not sure I’m putting enough on. Was applying very liberally. Yeah my nipples are agony when they rub against my bra. So I’ve been going braless in the house with a loose top. Like the idea of letting the air get to them though. Thank you for the tips x

Report
AvoidingMarking · 14/02/2019 19:18

@bubblybrit also, putting breast milk on them apparently helps too. A little pain for a few days/a week is totally normal while you get used to it and then they will toughen up, but if it lasts any longer please get the latch checked and don't suffer in silence

Report
bubblybrit · 14/02/2019 23:45

Thank you @AvoidingMarking. There is a local breastfeeding group thatbmy midwife recommended so if it is still painful then I’ll likely attend to check the latch. I’ll try the breast milk once mine comes in. Hoping it’s only a matter of days now x

Report
AvoidingMarking · 15/02/2019 03:08

@bubblybrit no problem! Milk usually comes in after 3 days for v birth and 5 days after c section but everyone is different. The latching in and off is her way of telling your body to release the hormone to make your milk. You may find you are teary on the first day your milk is in because of the hormones but again, that's totally normal.

Report
bubblybrit · 15/02/2019 06:51

@AvoidingMarking. Does BF get easier when my milk comes in? Feel like colostrum is quite goopy so she works hard for it. Will milk be easier and hence less painful as it will be more watery? Perhaps a stupid comment but really struggling as have crack on right nipple which is agony and concerned that the left will follow suit and I’ll need to express/formula feed temporarily x

Due date today 😬 I know there's a few of us due today. Had a sweep this morning so fingers crossed that gets things going, it was nowhere near as bad as I expected x

Report
Celebelly · 15/02/2019 11:11

@bubblybrit My milk actually squirts out now! It gave me a shock the first time! it's much easier to come than colostrum. It tends to be more watery at the start of a feed and then thickens a bit more as the feed goes on. Pumping colostrum was way harder work than pumping milk!
