@Yakadee - it would explain why I’m so ruddy uncomfortable already! It feels like she’s trying to scratch her way out with her finger nails at the moment. Ouch!

I’m glad I moved the obstetrician appointment to after the scan so at least I can chat about it then.

They are doing a late in pregnancy pre eclampsia study so took a load of blood for that and will call with any issues so that’s extra reassurance.

Yakadee · 25/01/2019 16:22

Apparently the most common higher reading is stomach my son's was higher than anything else and my daughters is bigger too. I've been told it's really common and never usually an issue x

detachablehoof · 25/01/2019 16:34

Thanks for the comments on TENS ladies. I think I'll hire one. Also getting a homeopathic childbirth kit (can't hurt, right?). Eeek!

powkin · 25/01/2019 16:50

@Notquiteagandt it’s been booked in since around 16w because of my health condition. I saw them once at the beginning and guess they wanted to meet me once at the end too, so not to do with the scan, just lucky that I can chat about it!

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 25/01/2019 18:37

Officially on maternity leave. Exciting but also weird knowing that other people will be doing my job.

Have our growth scan on Sunday will be 36+4. Not too worried as all bloods and wee can back fine. I think she's just small like my sister.

Measuring half a week behind. My only concern is if they want to make sure she's here before due date as I went over with DD and assumed I would this time also.

AvoidingMarking · 25/01/2019 19:28

@detachablehoof glad it's not just me!

I was induced and didn't have an epidural- they won't give you one straight away as it could be hours (and sometimes days) before baby arrives. I had a tens machine on and sat on the ball for most of my early labour.

AliceRR · 25/01/2019 19:44

I am due 10 Feb too. I don’t know about what is available in terms of birth pool etc. I live in a different city to the one I plan to give birth in so my midwife probably wouldn’t know... 🤔 Finished work today! So weird. Everyone was lovely and so generous and I left feeling liked I’d done everything I need to but doesn’t feel real yet that I’m done with work for maybe a year and baby is due in just over two weeks!

Notquiteagandt · 25/01/2019 21:27

@AliceRR if you go on the NHS choice website they give you the breakdown of how many rooms, how many pools etc, what percentage labours are csection induced intervention etc. It will give you an idea of pools etc

AliceRR · 25/01/2019 21:34

@Notquiteagandt Thank you! I will have a look.

DH was asking about private rooms too last night after we were watching the episode of Friends where Rachel has her baby be again had no idea!

Notquiteagandt · 25/01/2019 21:37

@AliceRR you may strike lucky. The hospital I am labouring in doesnt have wards. All privaite rooms. So worth looking on that site as it will give you an idea.

Only down side is no restrictions on visiting times unsure if good or bad thing 😂

Camsie30 · 25/01/2019 22:07

@detachablehoof I loved my tens last time, would definitely recommend one. What's on the homeopathic kit?

babyp160 · 25/01/2019 22:31

Am I right in thinking that if you're induced you can't have a water birth?

Just want to get my facts straight. I really want a water birth but I'm sure someone told me you can't I'd induced?

Since2016 · 25/01/2019 22:44

@babyp160 yes you can I think if you’re not on the drip - they normally try a pessary first.

@alicerr amenity rooms can be paid for if available in some trusts otherwise are allocated for isolation / sick patients. I had one for a week last time but DD was in NICU - it was lovely!

Notquiteagandt · 25/01/2019 22:47

@babyp160 guess it varies hospital to hospital. I have been told I can up until being on the strongest drip. The 3rd stage.

So a propess pessary and a syntocinon is ok for the water. As they have wireless waterproof heart monitors and drips.

But it depends if I need alot of monitoring as they cant do that in water. I thought the same and then my midwife corrected me. Then I got given a leaflet with all the stages and talking through the whole process that also said waterbirth was ok. As is getting in the bath.

But it also says it depends on your reason for being induced in the first place.

If you think you maybe induced maybe worth talking to your OB about it as they have the final say on induction so sure they will talk you through the process etc Flowers

Celebelly · 25/01/2019 22:52

I've just had some mucusy discharge! Not sure if it's part of my plug or what!

babyp160 · 25/01/2019 23:33

Thank you. Least I know what to expect 🤞🏼

detachablehoof · 25/01/2019 23:51

@camsie30 I contacted Helios and they have a kit which comes with a leaflet telling you what to take when, and includes:

Aconite, Arnica, Bellis-per, Calendula, Carbo-veg, Caulophyllum, Chamomilla, Cimicifuga, Gelsemium, Hypericum, Ipecac, Kali-carb, Kali-phos, Phytolacca, Pulsatilla, Secale, Sepia, Staphisagria.
The 18 remedies are in a 200c potency.

hayley013 · 26/01/2019 02:09

Does anyone else feel seriously warm all the time?! Just woke up boiling hot and noticed it loads over the last few days, just had to go sit on the step outside for 5 mins for some cold air

bubblybrit · 26/01/2019 02:44

So I’m hating pregnancy insomnia right now. Usually can’t sleep until 3-3.30am. DH then gets up at 5.30am for work. When he leaves the house at 6.30ish then I may get a few hours sleep and that’s me!

Not great at napping during the day either but I do manage on occasion.

It’s really making me feel quite down now...nights are so long! I read, have a bath, watch Netflix but nothing makes me sleep any earlier than 3am!!

Any ideas? X

bubblybrit · 26/01/2019 02:47

Should also add that I need to get up every hour for the toilet, have restless legs and baby movements are pretty painful! 😬!! So not a great combination xx

hayley013 · 26/01/2019 02:49

@bubblybrit I'm with ya tonight, though I have slept from 11-1:30 I'm awake now and can't get back to sleep, v annoying!

bubblybrit · 26/01/2019 02:57

I’ve been like this for several weeks now @hayley013. It’s really starting to take its toll now. Feel so grumpy all the time that I don’t even want to talk to anyone!

MrsY87 · 26/01/2019 03:08

Our twins arrived on Thursday afternoon after the consultant agreed to break my waters on Thursday morning. I was already 4cm when they broke my waters and they arrived 5.5hrs later, ended up having an epidural once I was fully dilated at their recommendation to reduce the risks of delivery of twin 2...The boy arrived first and then the girl decided to flip round to being breech so I ended up delivering her feet first so glad I had the epidural, only a needed a few stitches and it was a really great experience! Both are great weights too weighing 7lbs 7 and 7lbs 4! The boy was bigger in the end whereas the most recent 3 scans have shown him as a whole lb smaller...just shows how wrong these scans can be!

bubblybrit · 26/01/2019 03:22

Congratulations @MrsY87. So glad that you are all doing well! 😀 x

1stTimeTina · 26/01/2019 05:24

Congrats @MrsY87!! Such a healthy weight for twins , enjoy your new family 😊 xxx
