@maxiflump1 - I remember being really swollen with my first (this baby hasn't dropped yet so might be joining you once she does!) and was totally normal - not very comfortable though! 😩
I can't believe they haven't given you a date yet - do you know when you're supposed to find out?

@welshweasel - he's amazing! That little face and those little hands! 😍 congratulations again, he's a beauty! (Making me very jealous!).

@emalady - that sounds interesting! Hopefully this is the start of something. I remember losing my plug but never a show as such and I was induced so hopefully a good sign for you!!

I'm well into single figures now for my section - 6 days and counting! I have my pre-assessment tomorrow afternoon so interested to see what happens there too, have a few questions. Xx

@welshweasel well he is certainly living up to his name sakes. Am I right in thinking iolo means handsome? Such a cutie 😍

I just need to vent really. Took the morning off work (my last weeks) for a midwife appointment to turn up at the place and be told it's cancelled! Apparently they forgot to call everyone yesterday but not to worry, they've made me an appointment tomorrow (without checking if I can make it and I can't as I'm meeting the person covering my role).

It's just so rude! If you don't inform them you can;t make an appointment without good notice, they give you a lecture about not taking your pregnancy seriously and how every appointment is important but are happy to mess you around.

vent over.

Oh that's annoying @Thesnobbymiddleclassone

Just had midwife appointment and baby measuring big again so going for scan on Monday. She's 3/5 engaged now, which must be why I can breathe a bit better when lying down!

@Thesnobbymiddleclassone - that's rubbish!! I would be so annoyed! X

@maxiflump I’m really swollen too it’s not nice, I’m hoping it means she’ll be here soon! x

@Yakadee supposed to get either a voice mail or text message (!) with a date by the end of the week. If I've not heard anything by next Monday I have a phone number to call. It's a bit frustrating!

Report
Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 23/01/2019 11:39

@Yakadee I need to calm down before I phone them to discuss it. I already have to leave the office for appointments as they run out of the children's centre which is only open 10am - 2pm and It's unfair on the rest of the team and people I've organised meetings with!

Ugh I've woken up this morning with a cold 🙄 feeling really congested and got a headache. Is paracetamol my only option?

Report
detachablehoof · 23/01/2019 12:15

@welshweasel he's soooo cute. Those cheeks 😍

@detachablehoof sadly in terms of pain meds it is, however I just got a little diffuser thing from amazon and I'm really taken with it! You can get some eucalyptus essential oil to go in and it is helping me breathe (I don't have a cold but have basically had a stuffy congested nose for months now). It can glow different colours and is currently sitting by my desk and for some reason I'm finding it adorable. I've made a mix of sweet orange, peppermint and eucalyptus to help me breath and concentrate, all rather fun (although clearly bollocks as all I'm concentrating on is mumsnet and not my dissertation!).

As much as I am grumpy I'm finding that little things are really tickling me - I actually laughed to myself up the road the other day thinking about how much little Pip kicks when I'm in sessions with therapy clients and how she seems to enjoy it. All very silly!

Yakadee · 23/01/2019 13:11

@maxiflump1 - I totally get that, I'd be calling then too.

@Thesnobbymiddleclassone - Yeah that's not ideal either is it!

@powkin - might be pregnancy giggles - they are the best!

Has anyone else seen a post that's going on, poor op is getting ripped to shreads! She went for a late scan for something and wasn't finding out the sex, but the sonographer accidentally let it slip. She's asking if she should complain and wow, she's had some colourful responses! I wouldn't complain as wouldn't do anything but I can see why she'd be disappointed.

X

@thesnobbymiddleclassone I’d be raging - what if you had an urgent problem? Not ok.

@maxiflump1 that’s ridiculous how are you supposed to plan? And then you’ll have pre-assessment and bloods etc to schedule too. Ridiculous!

Took a v chilly walk around the park with another pregnant friend and toddlers. Gosh it’s cold. I couldn’t deal with the subarctic out of London temps l can just about cope with this! Now v tired.... god I wished DD still napped 😫

@Since2016 - my DS doesn't nap either (and hasn't for 6 months+!) so totally know where you're coming from! He's been a monkey today too! X

maxiflump1 · 23/01/2019 14:00

@Since2016 I had a consultants appointment last week where they did my bloods, gave me meds etc so won't have to go back for that hopefully! Thankfully my parents are retired so no issues with them being able to look after DS but it is frustrating

@detachablehoof yep unfortunately paracetamol is as good as it gets. You can't take any sort of decongestant etc. Hope you feel better soon

Oh that’s good @maxiflump1 I have enhanced recovery clinic and bloods at separate appts next week and the following week. Which I could do without tbh!!

Need some advice if anyone has any idea about this (it's a bit TMI so I apologise in advance). I'm aware that when your waters go it doesn't necessarily have to be a big gush, it can be a trickle etc. I really don't know about this atm.

So yday I went to the toilet, felt a bit wet down there and my underwear was a lot more damp than usual (about a palm sized damp patch, so quite large, but not soaking wet either). Didn't look like there was much, if at all, any "discharge", and the wet patch was clear. I changed my underwear and kept an eye on it for the rest of the night, but it went back to "normal". Everything was fine.

Then today, woke up, got out of bed and felt everything get wet again (same feeling you get when you're on your period and you feel it coming out, sorry this is so TMI haha). Again, another clear sizable wet patch but again, not soaking wet or dripping etc. Again, it was a clear liquid, no smell or colour.

Is this just a grim amount of normal discharge or would you guys think I might be leaking waters? I've already been to fetal assessment once during this pregnancy (last week), and I'm reluctant to go up again especially if I'm just being paranoid over nothing, but I obviously will if it could be waters because of the risk of infection, etc. I'm 38 +4 today if that means anything.

Sorry for the TMI post, I'm just a bit paranoid about this all!

@chocpop I'd ring the assessment unit and ask what they think. They can test to see if it is amniotic fluid. I bet it's a regular query, and as you say, better to be sure.

Report
Yakadee · 23/01/2019 15:43

@chocpop - my waters trickled with my first. Sounds similar to you, I remember thinking 'did I just pee a bit?'. Mine did have a bit of a smell though but was clear. I went in and they made me wear a pad for 30 mins and walk around to detect and waters. I was booked in for an induction the following day.

I'd defo get checked out just in case as there's a risk around infection so worth getting it ruled out.

Hope you're OK x

Report
Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 23/01/2019 15:46

If you think there is even the smallest chance it is your waters then get checked out.

No matter what the issue is, every midwife I've ever met has said they'd rather you got checked than left it.
