Yay congratulations on your beautiful girl @Celebelly! Lovely name.

Celebelly · 09/02/2019 17:47

Thanks everyone!

Was a bit of a whirlwind and not the idyllic hypnobirthing experience we had planned, but we are both safe and healthy so I'm thankful for that. The staff were amazing too, from our midwife to the anaesthesiologist who didn't leave my side for the whole section and chatted away to take my mind off it.

Emma is very sleepy today and haven't had much success with latching yet as she just shouts at my boob and then falls asleep HmmGrin

Can't believe I'm a mummy!

Leonora94 · 09/02/2019 19:41

@Celebelly Congratulations, there’s no such thing as a perfect birth but yours sounds like it was at least positive! Congrats xxx

Susannach · 09/02/2019 20:05

Hi ladies, I’m stressing out a bit at the moment... Maybe some of you can offer some words of reassurance?

Went to the midwife yesterday and she asked the usual “Any swelling?” I said no but mentioned I’ve been really itchy at night, especially hands + feet. She took bloods and said they needed to check for elevated bilirubin levels which is a sign of a liver problem called cholestasis.

Well I stupidly googled it when I got in and it seems it can be really dangerous for the baby Sad I have other signs too like dark/almost orange urine, which I didn’t think anything of before (assumed just pregnancy hormones, have had this for weeks) so didn’t mention to the midwife yesterday.

I don’t know what I’m asking really... Does anyone else have itching or weird coloured pee? Do you think I should call the hospital and mention the two symptoms together and see what they think? I’m unlikely to get the blood results back until Weds at the earliest because they were taken on a Friday. 39 weeks tomorrow so I’d almost rather just be induced at this point and get her out before anything can go wrong!

Sorry for the long post. Just a WWYD?

Yakadee · 09/02/2019 20:44

@Susannach - I'm not sure if it means anything but if you're worried I'd defo call maternity assessment etc. If anything it'll put your mind at rest x

Susannach · 09/02/2019 21:00

Thank you @Yakadee. I was going to today but I talked myself out of it, think I will call tomorrow. Hope you and baby are doing well.

mummymummymummummum · 09/02/2019 21:16

@Susannach Did the midwife check your urine yesterday? If so, she'd have noticed if it was wrong.

I'd ring if you're worried. At best it'll put your mind at rest. And if it is a sign of something worse then at least they'll be on it quicker.

AvoidingMarking · 09/02/2019 21:21

@Susannach I haven't had any itching but I did think to myself yesterday my wee has been really dark recently and thought I better keep an eye on it.

AvoidingMarking · 09/02/2019 21:24

@Celebelly congratulations! Sorry it didn't go the way you had hoped but she is here safely and that's what matters!

Sorry feeding isn't going well but don't be disheartened, milk can take longer to come in after a c section and she will latch soon!

Susannach · 09/02/2019 21:28

She just checked for protein as usual, I don’t think they’d pick up anything relating to this, I think they need the blood results.

I will phone tomorrow. I just feel like I’m being a bit neurotic and they’re no doubt very busy, but definitely better safe than sorry.

Susannach · 09/02/2019 21:32

AvoidingMarking Thank you. I always thought urine changes were quite normal during pregnancy... Maybe we just need to drink more!

AvoidingMarking · 09/02/2019 21:56

Easy to feel neurotic. I'm led on my side on the sofa after drinking a sugary drink as I want baby to move. I'm sure things are fine and I'll feel like an arse in a minute. It's been a busy day and I haven't been paying attention is all!

Lulabell1 · 09/02/2019 22:40

Hello ladies i have managed to find you sorry I have not been posting my poorly little baby has meningitis we have been in hospital for nearly 2 weeks. Congratulations to all of you who have had babies my due date would have been 12th and its mad to think shes now 6weeks old my little fighter. How many of you left now?

Surprisedmom · 09/02/2019 23:34

@Lulabell1 i’m sorry to hear your little one has menegitis but she does indeed sound like a little fighter and I hope you’re happy with the hospital, doctors and nurses whose care she’s under.

detachablehoof · 09/02/2019 23:47

It's suddenly occurred to me that I'll be on a ward when I'm induced next week. I guess if I don't go into labour straight away then DH will be sent home at night time 😥 hate the thought of being there on my own. Anyone know whether this is the case? I'd be happy to pay for an amenity room if that meant he could stay! (tbh it's more the thought of him being on his own that I don't like - he's a big softy and would hate it!)

Susannach · 10/02/2019 08:15

@Lulabell1 So sorry to hear! Sending all best wishes your way, I hope she makes a full and speedy recovery soon. You must be going through hell Flowers

Yakadee · 10/02/2019 08:50

@Lulabell1 - poor little thing. I hope you're all ok soon xx

@detachablehoof - unfortunately my hubby had to leave when I was induced with my first and with my section last week (although he had to anyway as he had to be home for my son). Maybe ask the hospital x

maxiflump1 · 10/02/2019 08:50

@detachablehoof try not to worry. At my hospital they allowed partners to stay overnight in both ante natal assessment and in the delivery suite. When I went in with contractions a few days before my section they let my DH sleep on a roll mat by the side of my bed!

@Lulabell1 so sorry to hear about your little one. I hope she is on the mend soon. What a scary time for you Thanks

lanalawr · 10/02/2019 09:03

@Lulabell1 I'm so sorry to hear your little one is so poorly. I hope they're getting good care and are on the mend soon. Thinking of you.

Fredthespider · 10/02/2019 09:15

@Lulabell1 huge hugs for you. What a horrible situation to be in, you've got all my best wishes and I hope your little one is feeling better soon x

AvoidingMarking · 10/02/2019 09:31

@Lulabell1 how awful for you all. Hope she is making a good recovery. X

Notquiteagandt · 10/02/2019 12:13

@Lulabell1 how scary! Cant begin to imagi e what you are going through. Look after yourself so you can look after little one when shes home xx

bubblybrit · 10/02/2019 14:09

So I’ve had my first sweep at 39+1. Midwife said that cervix was favourable and that I’m already 1cm dilated. She doesn’t think I’ll reach my due date on the 16th. Have mixed emotions now.....excited but also bloody nervous at the same time!

Celebelly · 10/02/2019 17:15

@Lulabell1 Hope your wee one is much better soon xx

We have just been discharged from hospital and are on our way home! Does anyone know how to look after a baby?!?! Grin

Can't wait to see more announcements in the coming days and weeks!

Yakadee · 10/02/2019 18:51

@Celebelly - Haha! Glad you're going home x
