@Surprisedmom I'd say it's totally possible. I often wonder if I'm feeling braxton hicks or if it's the baby pushing against me. With dd I thought it was her pushing against me but in hindsight I'm not sure. I don't think that's uncommon though because my midwife asked today if I was having BH. When I told her I wasn't sure but I thought so she knew exactly what I was talking about before I'd said it.

Surprisedmom · 08/02/2019 19:22

@detachablehoof and @lanalawr thanks, it’s good to know others feel the same degree of confusion. It stupidly makes me worry that I won’t feel the real contractions properly until i’m too far along or something, but I know that’s irrational and that labour will be painfully obvious 😆

detachablehoof · 08/02/2019 19:32

@surprisedmom LOL, I've had similar thoughts!!

Celebelly · 08/02/2019 19:57

My waters have just broken so looks like baby is on her way!

AliceRR · 08/02/2019 20:02

@Surprisedmom I’m “all bump” too so my bump is generally firm rather than squishy but sometimes it all goes hard which I think is BH

Yakadee · 08/02/2019 20:04

@Celebelly - wow! Good luck x

Susannach · 08/02/2019 20:06

@powkin Congratulations! And @Celebelly good luck!

maxiflump1 · 08/02/2019 20:33

Good luck @Celebelly!

maxiflump1 · 08/02/2019 20:34

@babyp160 how are you getting on? x

bubblybrit · 08/02/2019 20:53

Good luck @Celebelly. Looking forward to hearing your update!! X

lanalawr · 08/02/2019 20:58

@detachablehoof I'm worried about the same thing and this is my second. I definitely would have not noticed the beginning of contractions with dd if my waters hadn't already broken.

Good luck @Celebelly !

Surprisedmom · 08/02/2019 21:14

@lanalawr that’s interesting to know. I am feeling crampy sometimes and always unsure if it’s the start of anything, it’s good to know it might be even if i’m not having agonising contractions.

AliceRR · 08/02/2019 21:18

Good luck @Celebelly

Lookingforadvice123 · 09/02/2019 09:40

Wow good luck celebelly!

All this talk of not recognising contractions is making me nervous! Mine were so obvious with DS, I think because he was back to back, so quite intense from the off. But this baby isn't back to back (I don't think) so I hope I recognise them! I get a lot of
Braxton hicks, and have always recognised them...

Celebelly · 09/02/2019 10:16

Emma Alison Shears born via emergency C section at 0452, weighing 7lb9oz.

Think we are all in a bit of shock, but she's doing grand and I'm fine.

Most crazy day of my life (and she came on her due date!)

We’re going home today!! Finally got the catheter out last night and have done two wees - finally although it’s a challenge, as otherwise it was going to be a catheter at home 😔

Still waiting for my milk to come in but feeding otherwise going well - a little superstar!

Congratulations @Celebelly !

@Lookingforadvice123 from what I can gather it's more common to recognise contractions than not. It's not necessarily to do with baby not being back to back though. Dd was back to back and I'd have definitely missed them in the beginning. I don't remember them being painful at any point with her. That's why I'm worried (quick labour last time and childcare being about an hour away). It stung when she crowned and stitches hurt but labour and birth didn't for me.

AliceRR · 09/02/2019 12:50

I noticed I was having contractions last night but couldn’t feel anything, no pain, other than that my uterus was going hard. It was happening for much of yesterday evening and at night and felt some tightening. Still no pain.

I haven’t had BH v often so maybe was that but then I wouldn’t necessarily have noticed 🤔

I feel ready to go into labour now but DH has flu so is not up to it! I’m trying to look after him while trying not to catch it (I haven’t got it so far, maybe due to flu jab) and also feel bored waiting for baby while trying not to get too close to DH 🙄

Yakadee · 09/02/2019 14:12

@Since2016 - yay to coming home, it's much nicer being in your own space.

Hope you other ladies have some movement soon x

Lookingforadvice123 · 09/02/2019 14:55
