@AliceRR definitely give sitting on the ball or kneeling on the floor leaning over it a go. It may or may not change the position of your baby though. Dd was back to back and my labour with her wasn't very long or intense at all (obviously I don't know how much quicker it might have been if she wasn't back to back but she was born within 10 hours of waters breaking and 8 hours of mild contractions starting - we were only at the hospital for half an hour before she arrived). This baby is back to back for me again. You might find that you feel pressure differently in labour and feel like you're constipated because of where the baby's head is angled.

HugoBearsMummy · 31/01/2019 16:07

@Fiona0x Don't feel weird, I had to have a speculum dip test done on Friday as I had a leakage of waters (similar to a smear test) and it took me a good few minutes of pulling myself together and biting back tears saying 'I'm scared!!' before I'd let the midwife do it! God knows what I'll be like in labour, ridiculous as this is my second child lol!

powkin · 31/01/2019 19:00

Well if PIP was engaged I think she’s wandered back up to my ribs. Can feel baby butt in my ribs right now, ouch! Easier to walk, harder to breathe. Fun fun fun.

2019Mama · 31/01/2019 19:37

So our little man Zakariyya arrived at 6:07 this morning..
had some waters leaking at around 2ish called the hospital and was told to come in for a check and I’d get sent back home for 24 hours if all looked ok..
Got here for 4am put on the monitor for 45 mins. Midwife had a look and told me I was fully dilated and baby’s head was right there. I was so not ready 😬.
But both mum and baby are doing well.

maxiflump1 · 31/01/2019 19:45

Aw congratulations @2019Mama! That was a super quick labour. Hope you're doing ok and enjoying your new little man.

@Notquiteagandt how are you getting on?

I'm going in for my c section tomorrow and so praying we don't get too much snow!

Lookingforadvice123 · 31/01/2019 19:49

AliceRR try not to worry, at my 38 week appointment with DS my midwife told me he was facing inwards but by the time my labour started less than week later he was back to back, so they can then last minute.

My labour was longer and more intense with him being B2B, but I still managed on just TENS machine and gas and air so it can't have been that bad, if that makes sense.

And he did turn the right way for birth, apparently it's more usual for the contractions to turn them than for them to be born sunny side up.

bubblybrit · 31/01/2019 19:52

Congratulations @2019Mama! So pleased that you are both doing well.

Good luck tomorrow @maxiflump1. Looking forward to hearing your update. Fingers crossed that the snow stays away for you.

Yakadee · 31/01/2019 21:08

@2019Mama - oh wow, bet you weren't expecting that! Congratulations x

@maxiflump1 - good luck - I've had a really good experience so I'm sure you will too. Fingers crossed for no snow x

lanalawr · 31/01/2019 21:16

Congratulations @2019Mama - that was quick!

Good luck for tomorrow @maxiflump1.

Hope you're doing well @Notquiteagandt.

2019Mama · 31/01/2019 22:29

Thankyou everyone..
it was a huge shock to find out I was fully dilated as I didn’t take much notice of the pains they were unbearable but I’d had them on and off for a couple days so thought it’s nothing. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Both should be home tomorrow if my bloods come back ok as my white blood count is a little high

Surprisedmom · 31/01/2019 22:41

@2019Mama congratulations! It sounds like you did amazingly well to get to fully dilated without knowing. Hope you and your family are all able to go home tomorrow.

AliceRR · 31/01/2019 22:42

Thanks @Lookingforadvice123

Wow @2019Mama congratulations!!

AliceRR · 31/01/2019 23:56

Anyone else doing the positive birth go digital course and find the woman slightly repetitive and annoying?? I like the concept and think it will help but I find her a bit irritating!

mummymummymummummum · 01/02/2019 01:50

@AliceRR I've been listening to the videos at work and have come to like her voice! I'm onto section 5 now and have noticed she does repeat some information quite a lot. I might not have noticed if I wasn't binging them!

38+5. 3rd night in a row of insomnia. I am sooo tired ☹️ Last day of work today at least. Then I can have a few daytime naps next week!

AmberRose17 · 01/02/2019 02:03

@aliceRR @mummymummymumumum insomnia here too (waves). I also quite like her voice - I find that listening to the mp3s can send me off to sleep at times like these... it’s a good course I think. No idea if it’ll help but worth a punt.

I’m 39+4 Having had no symptoms, yesterday I felt a bit “periody” and thought maybe my waters had gone when I went to the loo in the eve. But put a pad in and nothing else has happened and I think it might just have been a 2-part wee! Still, it meant the last minute bits are in the hospital bag and my husband has packed his too!

Congrats on finishing work @mummymummymumumum. I’ve had the nicest two weeks off so far.

Hope you both sleep well!

Eyedontknow · 01/02/2019 02:14

@AmberRose17 I'm awake too! Actually fell asleep early tonight, but then woke up feeling like my period was about to start- intense cramps low down and feeling super nauseous. Haven't been able to go back to sleep. Not sure if it's just baby moving even lower or actually the start of something this time.

DeliberatelyGinger · 01/02/2019 08:26

Hmm don't think I can make it to my car in these conditions (Bristol) let alone drive it to work.

mummymummymummummum · 01/02/2019 08:59

Sleep finally came sometime after 4am. Alarm went off at 6 💤

HugoBearsMummy · 01/02/2019 10:02

Hello February ! 27 Days to go for me... who's only got a couple of days left? Final day of work today Yay! x

bubblybrit · 01/02/2019 11:19

I can’t believe that this month I’ll be a first time mummy 😍!!

lanalawr · 01/02/2019 11:25

I'll officially have a February baby now! 39 weeks today and had my last day in work yesterday. Feels very strange to have finished again. I'm hoping for baby to stay put until at least Wednesday because I'd like one day to myself (need to wait for dd's nursery day for that). It'll be strange being home alone though. A day to myself at home will be the longest I've been home alone in 2.5 years!

hayley013 · 01/02/2019 11:56

It is crazy to think baby will be here this month! I'm so ready though haha

HugoBearsMummy · 01/02/2019 12:09

@lanalawr WOW you worked right till the end- go you! I am literally excited about going food shopping and doing housework on Monday on my own without a 3 year old in tow haha. Going to make the most of the days he's in nursery before DD makes her appearance.

lanalawr · 01/02/2019 12:28

Yea I finished a week earlier with dd and was grumpy while I waited. Wishing I finished a week ago though. I think I'd have appreciated the extra time much more this time around. Funnily enough my plans are similar to yours @HugoBearsMummy

AutumnLee12 · 01/02/2019 12:55

Wow congratulations @2019Mama such a surprise!

38+1 and finally finished work yesterday, I don't think having a year off will sink in until little man arrives!

Does anyone know if there's a limit to when you can have a pregnancy massage? As in do they not recommend it after a certain time, I really think I need one 😂
