@powkin - sounds strange (and it is a bit scary) but is actually great. I know exactly what's happening with my son (we're so lucky, both mums live locally and are sharing the childcare out) and it's given me something to focus on (I'm really excited about being able to breath through my nose soo!).

Tomorrow is my 'last day' so have jobs to do to get everything straight before the big day. My Mil kindly offered to have my son in the morning as I have to go to hospital for them to take my blood for the section and I said I'd go shopping later but she told me to go ahead and she'd watch Josh - she's awesome! X

Notquiteagandt · 27/01/2019 20:06

The worse thing about an exact date of delivery is each day now feels million x longer. 2 more days left and it feels a life time away. Each day since got given my exact date has felt 2400000 hrs long.

Does anyone have any tips? Its driving me mad.

Well I say exact date.I mean date to start things off.

Could still take a while. But she will deffo be here by end of week.

Yakadee · 27/01/2019 20:39

@Notquiteagandt - I've just been filling my time as much as I can. Been out for lunch a lot, taken my son out to some fun places, done some things I know I won't get to do for a little while.

Unfortunately not a lot else you can do x

Since2016 · 27/01/2019 20:57

Haha I don’t feel like this at all! I still have a million things to do, plus managing an almost three year old is challenging!

I’m glad I have another week or so to go - lots to do and not quite ready mentally! I’m driving DH mad though as I just can’t stop despite being v tired... enjoying spending time with DD as an only and also napping where I can!

I do appreciate though that first time round it’s different - I was going out of my mind even before my due date last time so I have sympathies!

In terms of tips - just do some things for you - get a pedicure, have a hair cut, a long bath etc... it’s so easy to say enjoy these moments now but DO - you’ll never pee (probably) alone again (for the next year at least)

I'm having lots of what I can only describe as mini contractions this evening. Have had braxton hicks for a few weeks now but this feels different. They are in no way regular but seem to be stoping and starting over the last few hours and baby is very very active in between. Booked in for a c section a week Tuesday and really don't want to go into labour before! Anyone had anything similar??

lanalawr · 27/01/2019 21:02

Sorry @maxiflump1 I can't help because I never had that with dd. Given you don't want it yet I hope this isn't it! Have you had a bath to see what happens?

@Since2016 only a year? I've found it worse with a toddler. At least as a baby I could put her down or give her to someone else. Now she sneaks in to the bathroom with me or stands outside calling and knocking until I open the door for her! When do they stop wanting to watch you wee?

Since2016 · 27/01/2019 21:22

@lanalawr I was trying to be kind... but agree - much worse with a toddler. Showering too... or wanting to ‘help’ me get dressed...

Best is in a loo in public “mummy are you doing a poo?” 😳

welshweasel · 27/01/2019 21:40

@maxiflump I had the same for a couple of days before my section - by the time I was at the hospital I was getting regular tightenings and apparently had started to dilate so it was a good job I got to theatre when I did!

Yakadee · 27/01/2019 21:46

Haha @Since2016 @lanalawr - mine just tries to constantly open the bloody door! X

maxiflump1 · 27/01/2019 22:00

Thanks @lanalawr and @welshweasel.
Really quite uncomfortable so rang hospital and the want me to go in to get checked out so emergency phone call to parents to come and stay with DS and we are off. Hoping it's a false alarm!

lanalawr · 27/01/2019 22:38

I haven't had that yet luckily @Since2016. The worst we've had is shouting "Daddy weed" down a corridor (leading to the toilets). Getting dressed isn't too bad. She gets to choose my socks! 😆

Fingers crossed @maxiflump1. Let us know how you get on.

powkin · 27/01/2019 22:48

Pip has been going crazy today. Never been so active! I keep imagining she’s turned herself round to be breech!

My feet are absolutely enormous and DH has to keep managing the water retention. I feel any fragment of attractiveness I might have had has disappeared! I had to ask him to leave the room as I tried to manoeuvre off the floor after him giving me a foot/leg massage - I would have let him help but thought I was going to let out a big fart. Seriously why does no one tell you how dignity stripping pregnancy is?!

Hope all is OK @maxiflump1 and she stays in for your CS.

maxiflump1 · 27/01/2019 23:59

Well I'm being monitored and contractions are 10 mins apart. Just waiting to see if I'm dilated or not and the doc will decide what to do. Likely a caesarean at some point this morning! Looks like baby will be here sooner than I anticipated Shock

Since2016 · 28/01/2019 00:15

Eek - good luck @maxiflump1 !!!

@maxiflump1, exciting news, hope all goes ok x

lanalawr · 28/01/2019 07:06

Good luck @maxiflump1 !

sickmumma · 28/01/2019 07:30

Good luck today @maxiflump1 !!

I would like to say the following to the toilet stops after toddlerhood but my 7 and 9 year old generally only need me urgently when I go to the toilet/ decide to have a bath!! That or they need to go themselves 😂🙈

Yakadee · 28/01/2019 07:41

@maxiflump1 - all the best! Hope everything is going well and can't wait for an update xxx

Yakadee · 28/01/2019 07:43

@powkin - I know! I feel like a beached whale getting out of bed! When I went for my pre-op talk last week she told me I needed to shave, very well. She told my husband he's going to have to help me - that a fun job for tonight! Lol x

Notquiteagandt · 28/01/2019 08:22

@maxiflump1 someone is kean to meet you hey. Good luck Flowers

maxiflump1 · 28/01/2019 09:01

Thanks for all the good wishes. Still here with no real progress. Contractions have died down considerably and managed a couple of hours sleep. Going to monitor me for this morning and go from there but may end up going home later.

MrsY87 · 28/01/2019 09:31

@maxiflump1 sounds like the position I was in last week! Contractions which were really frequent and obvious for a good few hours and then they would totally disappear and then start up again. They didn't send me home as I was still pre-term with twins and already 3cm but hopefully they will let you home if they aren't making your cervix dilate!!

HugoBearsMummy · 28/01/2019 11:21

Was exactly 1 month till my due date yesterday and my friends and family arranged a surprise afternoon tea/baby shower for me- I was so surprised and overwhelmed as I hadn't planned to do anything :-).

Took my mind off the fact that I had a swab result yesterday (I've been experiencing some leaking of waters) and it shows I'm positive for Strep B Bacteria so I'll need antibiotics through an IV during labour & If I experience any more leaking... argh! Anyone else have experience of this??...

HugoBearsMummy · 28/01/2019 11:23

Good luck to @maxiflump1 fingers crossed not too much longer for you
