@HugoBearsMummy That must be worrying but I don’t know anything about it unfortunately. Sounds like you are being looked after though. Pleased you took your mind off things with a baby shower / afternoon tea. I had an afternoon tea baby shower yesterday too and it was lovely

HugoBearsMummy · 28/01/2019 12:38

@AliceRR I shouldn't have looked at Google really as they always give you worst case scenarios! But the bacteria can make the baby very unwell if they are contaminated with it, there was even mention of stillbirth! So that freaked me out a little... But I am sure all will be well. I too had never heard of Strep B before, but I'm glad I was tested so they can give me the correct meds. Glad you also had a lovely Baby Shower- I'm all caked out hehe!

AliceRR · 28/01/2019 12:39

@HugoBearsMummy Google is the worst! I do the same and then scare myself!! But the professionals know about it and they’re dealing with it so try not to worry (I know easier said than done - I’m a worrier!)

HugoBearsMummy · 28/01/2019 12:43

Thank you I'll try not to. Just can't wait for her to be here now and get back to some normality as I'm suffering with SPD as well.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy :-)

AliceRR · 28/01/2019 12:46

@HugoBearsMummy I’ve got PGP/SPD too which is a shame as I can’t do some of the things I’d be doing now I’m on mat leave like going for a walk or looking round the shops but I can manage it. I just have to be careful not to be on my feet too much and be mindful of how I turn over in bed and things. Can’t wait to meet little one though! 😊 x

2019Mama · 28/01/2019 13:32

@HugoBearsMummy I’ve just had a positive result for group B strep too.
Midwife said it’s nothing to worry about as now that they know about it I’ll be put on the drip during labour and baby will be monitored for 12 hours after the birth to ensure he’s not been affected.
Apparently it’s quite common in a lot of women.

detachablehoof · 28/01/2019 13:46

I've not been tested for strep B - anyone know why that would be?

powkin · 28/01/2019 13:47

Saw the consultant today, she didn’t seem worried about the size and was happy for me to try the birth centre. She discharged me to the midwife but said they wouldn’t be looking to induce until 40+10 - there’s no way I’ll make it that far!

lanalawr · 28/01/2019 13:49

@detachablehoof I don't think it's something that's tested for as standard.

Celebelly · 28/01/2019 14:04

They don't routinely test in the UK for Strep B, but you can get private testing kits for about £35.

HugoBearsMummy · 28/01/2019 14:12

@2019Mama Ok that's good to know, thank you for sharing :-)

Yakadee · 28/01/2019 14:15

Was just thinking - this time tomorrow my baby should be here!!!!! Eeekkk! X

AliceRR · 28/01/2019 15:11

So exciting @Yakadee!!

Does anyone know, is there a max amount of them they’ll let you go beyond your due date before you’re induced? Is it 42 weeks? Just wondering

maxiflump1 · 28/01/2019 15:16

So ladies I'm still here... Contractions are still happening but less often and manageable. Going back on the trace machine this afternoon to monitor them then afterwards doc will make a decision on whether to send me home or keep me in. DH has gone home for some sleep. I'm trying to do the Same but failing miserably as it's too damn hot and noisy in here! On one hand I want to go home but worried as soon as we get back it will all kick off again and by the time I get back in will be too far gone for a section.

HugoBearsMummy · 28/01/2019 15:34

@Yakadee that's so exciting! Thinking of you!

Yakadee · 28/01/2019 15:40

@AliceRR - I thought they would induce no later than 40+10 (or 41+3?) or something as there can be issues with placenta after 42 weeks and they don't want to risk it.

@maxiflump1 - can't you try and away them to do the section now? When are you planned in, is it like 6 days now?

It's forecast heavy snow here tomorrow - what are the flipping chances! My Mil and mum are are stressing as they're having my son between them. Thankfully my hubby has a good car snow for snow because we live quite high up, by why snow? Couldn't you have just waited a few days!
Xx

detachablehoof · 28/01/2019 15:46

@aliceRR I was told that the national guidance is to offer induction at 40 + 14 but my hospital (Leeds - think you might be the same?) has a policy to offer induction at 40 + 10. I'm glad as I don't really want to go that far over TBH. I'm 39 wks and already so anxious about baby's wellbeing - find myself obsessing over movements.

powkin · 28/01/2019 15:57

@AliceRR I was told by the obstetrician 40+10 would be when they’ll induce me, didn’t seem that I was being offered anything special (and no way I’m waiting that long, I’ll be begging them to get her out!). Wish I’d actually pushed a bit harder for them to induce at 40.

AliceRR · 28/01/2019 16:03

@detachablehoof Yes I am Leeds. I’m exactly the same with worrying about baby movements and that’s the only thing that bothers me about having another couple of weeks potentially. Even the last few days I’ve been worrying but it just seems to be all the time rather than that anything is wrong

detachablehoof · 28/01/2019 16:09

Apparently if you go in for reduced movements three times they will just keep you in. My sister went in twice for reduced movements, and the second time the midwife told her to come back tomorrow as they would keep her in if she did that.

Obviously I'm not suggesting we should lie about reduced movements, just if the anxiety is getting too much then it seems like you could potentially wangle induction to be a bit earlier!

AliceRR · 28/01/2019 16:10

Just looking up when 40+10 would be - 20 Feb 🤔

detachablehoof · 28/01/2019 16:14

Would be 14th Feb for me - would be very tempting to call baby Valentine or Valentina if it made an appearance on that day!

I'm wondering about booking a massage or something for my due date - I'm so sure that baby will be late and don't want the day to feel like a total let down!

Yakadee · 28/01/2019 16:17

@detachablehoof - I'm in Halifax so must be why I've heard the same.

X

AliceRR · 28/01/2019 16:22

@detachablehoof My brother’s birthday is Valentines Day and I quite like the idea of baby coming then but was thinking whatever day the induction starts baby could come the following day...

Hopefully they arrive before then anyway!

Yakadee · 28/01/2019 16:25

I was induced on the Saturday and my son came on the Sunday. Not to say that's the rule - just depends x
