August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea

Hi all

Welcome to the new thread. The list of names is HUGE! It might be a better idea to start a new list after 12 week scans so we have up to date due dates. It also allows those who have bad news but don't want to share it to leave quietly if they so wish.

I don't even have a scan date! Hurry up and end first trimester.

How is everyone?

Who's scans are we still waiting on?
Who has 16 week appointments coming up?
Any gender scans?

My 1 year old has been sleeping in her own cot all night the last few nights. It's been amazing. She does have more teeth coming so I am guessing sleep will go to pot again soon. Tummy is explaining and muscles keep feeling like they are pulling. Very sore. Still no sickness but the start of heartburn when I'm hungry. Energy seems to be back up too.

I’ve got my 16 week appointment this week. It’s a little early but it was already booked. Part of me wants to get a gender scan because I just want another scan but I think we are going to wait until 20 weeks. Still having some very sick days but like you my energy seems to be slowly returning.
Congrats on the sleep and good luck with the teething, fingers crossed it won’t be too bad.

Chinks123 · 18/02/2019 09:30

Hi! Sorry to join 4 threads in, I’m on the July thread but my due date has been pushed back to August, and looking at this thread it seems I can relate to a lot of you.

My due date is 2nd August so I’m 16+3 today, and we have a 6 year old DD. Yesterday i found out I’m having a little boy! I’m so excited. Dp doesn’t want to know the sex yet, so I’m hiding the scans as it’s very obvious!
I still haven’t told a lot of people I’m even pregnant yet, but now it all seems so real, I better get a move on. I’ve had no symptoms at all yet, I’m just very tired at the minute.

Bakingabean · 18/02/2019 09:34

I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow- what should I expect? I'm assuming I'll have to pee in a cup and maybe have a blood test? I'm in south west London so does anyone know if they listen to baby's heart beat?

I've got a private gender scan on Thursday when I'll be 17+1. I'm mostly doing it to have an extra scan as the wait between 12 and 20 weeks seemed so long and to make it feel more real I guess?

However, I've been feeling a few movements I think but still not sure! Felt like something squirming this morning- and a few gentle twitches. It's quite surreal (this is my first so completely new feeling!)

@scotsbaby2 I've been having the stretching/pulling feelings too. Especially last night, every time I rolled over last night I had to do it gently as it was a bit sore!

EverythingNow · 18/02/2019 10:01

I've got my 16wk appointment on Wednesday when I'll be 16+3. According to my blue notes at the appointment they will:

Check results of booking bloods
Discuss 'promoting normal birth
Discuss signs and symptoms of preeclampsia
Check date has been set for 20wk scan
Make appt for GTT

Plus I'm sure they check wee and BP.

I'm not sure about HB, I know they tried at my 17w apt with dd2 and couldn't find a HB so I was sent to hospital. I could feel her moving all the while, but didn't trust my instincts. Anyway she was fine but with dd3 they were reluctant to check early on. We will see.

No gender scan, I'm waiting until my 21wk scan. (Gutted I have to wait a whole extra week!) I'm so impatient though!

Curlywurlywooo · 18/02/2019 11:24

@ScotsBaby2 morning! I had my 16 week scan last week, and she tested my urine and BP (she does every appointment!) and listened to heartbeat. I’ve got my 20 week scan in three weeks and we aren’t going to find out the gender Smile at least, we’ll try not to Grin
Been feeling movements since my 16 week appointment, have even felt very small kicks, very active baba!

Curlywurlywooo · 18/02/2019 11:25

Sorry I meant 16 week appointment 🤦🏼‍♀️

ss3ajb · 18/02/2019 12:29

Hey hope everyone doing well - I wondered if anyone had done the NCT course and whether it was worth the money - it's quite expensive and heard mixed things although don't want to miss out if it's life changing - appreciate any views thankyou 😊

Moncwf · 18/02/2019 12:33

I think I felt movement at 11 weeks! Second baby though and not consistently. We'll find out the sex but wait for 20 week scan.
What's everyone wearing at the moment? I've lost weight due to constant nausea but also have a bump. My current clothes are big in some places and small in others, but a lot of my old maternity stuff is still big. Don't want to buy much as I'm sure I'll get bigger soon but am fed up of looking a scruff now!

Curlywurlywooo · 18/02/2019 12:44

@Moncwf this is my first so, so far, not much of a bump! I have bought two pairs of maternity jeans, even though no bump my usual jeans were really uncomfortable and I lived in leggings for a month, but really missed jeans - and I’m just wearing my usual loose tops and tunics over! (We haven’t “announced” pregnancy yet)

PinkLady89x · 18/02/2019 13:29

@Moncwf I really thought I felt the baby at 11 weeks but I really could be making it up as this is my first. Maybe a couple of times a day when I'm still, I get this butterfly feeling that doesn't feel like usual gas feelings. I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and can't wait to feel regular movements to help with my anxiety.
I've woken up today absolutely terrified that something is wrong with the baby. I had a dream last night that the baby was here and I loved it so much and now I'm terrified for my 12 week scan this Wednesday! I know I've had two good scans - 8 weeks and 10+2 weeks but I can't help but drive myself crazy! I was alright yesterday and now I'm going mad with worry. My sickness has got so much worse in the last few days with me pretty much throwing up everything I eat. Today I've got a crampy feeling and it isn't helping with the stress! Wednesday can't come quick enough!

Kcjoe · 18/02/2019 14:36

Hi. Well I went for my cvs today. The did the scan first of all where baby was very active. And we listened to the heartbeat 😍 everything else was normal on the scan except the NT measurement. I was given options - to do nothing and wait until 20 week scan, have cvs or wait for amnio in 4 weeks. The m/c risk for the cvs was higher for me due to the coil. But I didn't want to wait. So I had he cvs done. And blood tests. My partner was not prepared to have a blood test himself 🤣 so I'm now lay in bed. Wait for results. If they are ok, it's back in 4 weeks or so for a fetal heart scan although no abnormalities seen on heart yet. I could have found out the sex with the cvs results but that part was private 🙄 so we opted not to find out. It's all been so stressful. My partner and I have not been getting on well. He doesn't handle stress. And he told me last night that he would prefer me not to have the cvs and to go straight for termination. I was so upset last night but today he has been lovely. I've no doubt he's still very stressed about it but seeing the baby again and seeing me have the test may have given him a slight kick up the backside.
@ScotsBaby2 my due date is now 29/08/19.
🤞🤞🤞

Sorry! Didn't mean to post twice. Internet died mid post so I switched to the app. It seems to have worked on both 😬

ScotsBaby2 · 18/02/2019 15:56

@Kcjoe it's so stressful for both of you! I'm not sure I would have coped as well as you have.

Had my 12 week scan on Friday there! Dates slightly changed and we are now looking at the 26th August! Can’t wait to find out the sex of the baby Smile. Hope everyone doing ok!

QueenofFox · 18/02/2019 16:45

@Chinks123 welcome and exciting about your boy! I'm also having a boy 😊

@Kcjoe sounds like a tough day but I'm glad it will be able to go ahead and you will have some answers soon. Keeping everything crossed! Absolutely ridiculous they wanted you to pay to find out sex.

Exciting about all the appts and gender scans! I'm already thinking of names but finding it much more tricky for a boy!

ScotsBaby2 · 18/02/2019 17:25

Do we only have boys so far in the group? Anyone know they are having a girl?

Thankyou @QueenofFox I love him so much already, I got a picture of him in 4d and he looks so sweet! After only having dd I have no idea about baby boys or any name ideas, I had about 5 for a girl!

Chinks123 · 18/02/2019 17:43

Oh and congratulations to you aswell of course!! Smile

Kcjoe · 18/02/2019 17:44

@PinkLady89x I'm 12+5 and I have felt little movements. This is my 2nd so i'm convinced it's baby and nothing else. It's usually when I lie on my side really still. Like little popping movements. Probably baby playing with the coil!! 🙄

Thank you @QueenofFox. I know. My partner said straight away "no, we will wait" when they said we could pay. But she did say that they would highly likely be able to tell the sex at the fetal heart/anomaly scan so not too long to wait.

Thank you @ScotsBaby2 xx

sacrecoeur0712 · 18/02/2019 17:53

@ScotsBaby2 I'm having a girl. Struggling with names though and feeling slightly overwhelmed with the amount of pink on the girls' clothes rails. I'm currently outnumbered at home 3-1 by boys so there's a lot of blue in our house!

ScotsBaby2 · 18/02/2019 18:07

@sacrecoeur0712 my daughter was called a boy on Saturday due to her tractor T-shirt and tractor trousers. There is a lot of pink and very difficult to avoid.

I'm struggling with both boy and girl names...

OP posts:
QueenofFox · 18/02/2019 18:26

@sacrecoeur0712 I'm the opposite. After two girls feel like there's a lot of dresses in their house! Fun to think I'll hopefully actually have a son too (not jinxing anything). We should swap!

bubblegumunicorn · 18/02/2019 20:22

We’ve been buying unisex so far but this includes a pink baby grow and blue Christmas jumper 😂 I just don’t see why boys can’t wear pink and girls can’t wear blue! I also got a little jacket in my fave colour of dark blue most of my coats are that colour so i figured we could match 😊 I’m getting so impatient wanting to know if it’s a boy or girl though but my my next scan is in 4 weeks and I’ll be 19 weeks then so I don’t have to wait quite as long as 20 weeks I just feel reluctant to pay for a private scan when I could use that money for something else for the baby to enjoy 😊
