August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea

Hi all

Welcome to the new thread. The list of names is HUGE! It might be a better idea to start a new list after 12 week scans so we have up to date due dates. It also allows those who have bad news but don't want to share it to leave quietly if they so wish.

I don't even have a scan date! Hurry up and end first trimester.

@explodingkitten thank you. That's so kind x

sunshine1987 · 15/02/2019 16:32

@explodingkitten I’m so sorry, must be such a worrying time for you x

Moncwf · 15/02/2019 17:04

@explodingkitten so sorry you are in this position, especially as it's been such a long road to pregnancy. I don't know what I would do in your situation but it sounds like you are making a very considerate decision for your daughter.

CautiousOptimist · 15/02/2019 18:45

@explodingkitten I’m so sorry to hear this, it must be a very difficult time for you and your DH.

Runningbutnotscared · 15/02/2019 18:58

@explodingkitten I’m so sorry you and your DH are going through this. You’ve had such a long journey. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Does anyone know about nuchal fold thickness? My meausments are too low - 1.1 and 1.4 mm. normal range is 1.6-2.5mm. I’ve had bloods taken for the nhs harmony test, results in 7 days, but my googling isn’t thrown anything up?

Jelliestogether · 16/02/2019 10:22

@runningbutnotscared my NT measurement was also 1.10mm I asked if that was within normal, and was told yes, my bloods came back with a 1:50,000 chance of downs/edwards etc. Try not to Google too much, sometimes it's definitely not helpful!

ABearandABump · 16/02/2019 11:57

Just has my blood results back for DS, TS18 and TS13.

DS is 1 in 29,000
TS18 is 1 in 50,000
And
TS13 is 1 in 48,000

So happy, had that horrible feeling they were going to come back high risk, especially when I only went for the testing on Monday and my results were back first thing this morning!

@Runningbutnotscared could it be because it's twins? May not be the case but just a thought.

X

Whoopsies · 16/02/2019 16:23

Had my screening results back, my letter just says I am low risk in all 3 areas. It says I can ring to discuss further if I want, but I'm happy just knowing it's low risk and not worrying about the specific numbers!

QueenofFox · 16/02/2019 16:45

@Kcjoe 'y ammnio is 26th. I've really scared just because of all that it will mean.i just want to know now as it feels like it's been hanging over is for so long. Hope your cvs is straight forward and they get some results easily.

@explodingkitten I'm so sad to hear of your journey, it must be totally heartbreaking. I think you are doing the right thing for your daughter and there is so much bravery in that decision.

@Runningbutnotscared thanks lovely. For us the condition is a rare metabolical one that although needs treatment for life (and a lot of hospitalisation for first five years, and definitely most of first year) isn't quite so life impacting as other conditions - think along the lines of cystic fibrosis - so we already decided that we would keep it whatever the outcome. I worked at planned parenthood for years and on the campaign for yes in Irish referendum so I'm in no way saying that's what I think everyone should do, our situation is v different.

CalmerComber · 16/02/2019 17:04

Big hugs to everyone having a worrying time. Hand holding for everyone making hard decisions xx

I’m definitely feeling regular movements now and it’s so nice! Finding it really reassuring. Anyone else? I’m one of the earlier due dates though (1st Aug) and there are two babies in there so I have twice the amount of limbs to feel!

PinkLady89x · 16/02/2019 18:10

@CalmerComber that's so lovely that you can feel them! How reassuring. Now call me crazy but I just said to my OH that I'm so sure I can feel flutterings every now and again. Mainly when I'm sitting still. I'm so sure it's not gas but I could be wrong 😅. I like to think it is the baby though as it sort of calms my nerves until my scan on Wednesday when I'll be 13 + 1. Anyone else felt anything really early or am I making it up?
Also... I've had awful nausea all pregnancy but I'm the last few days I've actually been throwing up all my meals about an hour after eating them. It does get rid of the nausea but can't believe how much worse it's got! I get like awful burping feelings and then it shoots out of me 😅🤷🏼‍♀️.
Actually happened at work yesterday on my desk! As a teacher it wasn't easy to hide from the class but I think I got away with it 😱😱.

ABearandABump · 16/02/2019 18:32

@PinkLady89x I was the same around 12 weeks, my nausea got really bad to the point were I constantly had the window open at work because each smell would set me off.

My colleagues were not impressed.

@QueenofFox you're so brave. Fingers crossed for the best news for you both!

marajade12 · 17/02/2019 15:27

Hi ladies, having a bit of a rubbish time this weekend. I have food poisoning, been to out of hours gp today and he said I was marginally dehydrated. Will need to go back to docs tomorrow morning to see if situation has improved. If not I’ll be admitted to hospital for a drip 🙁

curlywurlywooo · 17/02/2019 17:27

@marajade12 💖 At least you’ll be in safe hands if you need extra monitoring, better than ignoring it! Hope you feel better and hope you won’t need a drip x

curlywurlywooo · 17/02/2019 17:42

@PinkLady89x I felt tiny movement when I was 13 weeks exactly, I know it was baby and nothing else but after that I didn’t feel any more until last week (when I was 16 weeks) my midwife has been asking me f I felt movement since my appointment at 14 weeks! So I think they expect some women to feel it quite early.

Chocolate89 · 17/02/2019 19:49

Happy Sunday everyone! 16 weeks today 😊 anyone else struggling with constipation/gas? So embarrassing...

keebo · 17/02/2019 20:06

Adding myself to the list for 15th Aug. DC1 for us after 2mcs last year. Taking it super easy this time round, so pleased that all was well at 12week scan. 🤞 For everyone.

keebo · 17/02/2019 20:08

@Chocolate89 I don't have constipation but have had horrendous burping since about week 5. It seems to be getting worse too, embarrassing doesn't come close, I sound like the world's noisiest goat!

curlywurlywooo · 17/02/2019 20:30

@Chocolate89 I haven’t got constipation but I can definitely tell my system has slowed down! I make sure to eat loads of fruit and veg (I was eating dried apricots everyday but it went too far the other way Blush)
I do have gas though (lucky DH 😂) and I also get heartburn often. Had it the other night just having a drink of water!

QueenofFox · 17/02/2019 20:44

@marajade12 poor you!

@Chocolate89 I am! I'm veggie and eats loads of vegetables, doesn't seem to make any difference. A couple of healthcare people have told me pregnacare makes it worse so going to finish this packet and then just take spatone for iron and see if that helps. It's horrible!

Chocolate89 · 17/02/2019 21:16

@queenoffox oh really?? Maybe I'll ease off too! I would have a good diet, eat loads of veg and wholegrains but nothing seems to make a difference! Literally feel like im giving my teenage brother a run for his money 😂😂
