August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea

Hi all

Welcome to the new thread. The list of names is HUGE! It might be a better idea to start a new list after 12 week scans so we have up to date due dates. It also allows those who have bad news but don't want to share it to leave quietly if they so wish.

I don't even have a scan date! Hurry up and end first trimester.

@Elmamadegatita that's great news!
@explodingkitten I'm so sorry. That is tough. All this waiting and seeing can't be easy. So strange that the NIPT failed, I definitely know what you mean about wishing something could be straight forward for once!

Elmamadegatita · 12/02/2019 19:46

@jokie I did, lovely day with my husband and in-laws. I hope you had a lovely day too!

curlywurlywooo · 12/02/2019 22:38

@explodingkitten sorry to hear that, hopefully they’ll be able to sort things out quickly and give you clarity!

@bubblegumunicorn my DH works a rota and he just happens to have days off on both the 12 and 20 week scan... he’s allowed unpaid time off for two antenatal appointments as standard and my midwife said the only ones that are of any interest to the partner besides scans are 16 week (listen to heartbeat) and 36 week (birth plan) so he’s coming with me for 16 week scan tomorrow (happens to be off midweek) but if he was in 9-5 job I’d only get him to come to the scans really! As other posters have said the appointments are for checking your wee and blood pressure etc. Great if you and partner both want to attend and can but there’s no real need and nothing to miss out on!

curlywurlywooo · 12/02/2019 22:40

Gosh sorry I mean 16 week appointment not scan 😂😂 by the way I’ve seen previous posters mention seeming heartbeat during ultrasounds, my ultrasound didn’t have it! I assumed it was an american thing!

sunshine1987 · 13/02/2019 05:08

@curlywurlywooo I had assumed that too but during our 12 week scan the lady doing the scan let us hear the heartbeat which I wasn’t expecting at all x

Whoopsies · 13/02/2019 06:44

I got to hear the hb at our scan, the sonographer even zoomed right in on the heart to show us all four chambers, she said we could see quite a lot if detail as I was 13+5 already. You don't always hear the hb at 16 week appointment, just to warn everyone. It depends on your mw and their policy. It can be unreliable that early on and cause worry if they can't find it so not all of them all of them do it. My dh will just be coming to the scans, the rest of the appointments are a waste of time for them!

Blueberry2018 · 13/02/2019 07:19

@Jelliestogether how did you get on? Is baby ok xx

Jelliestogether · 13/02/2019 10:31

@blueberry2018 they didn't have any appointments but they booked me one for Friday so just got to wait til then although I'm much more relaxed now. I've had no bleeding and the cramping has stopped but if it restarts or has bleeding I've been told to go to a&e.

curlywurlywooo · 13/02/2019 13:49

Just heard baby’s heartbeat it was amazing Smile and he/she kept moving! I’ve got 4 weeks to wait for my second ultrasound now, can’t wait to see baba againSmile only question I had for my midwife was if i can drink tonic water - yes I can Grin

ScotsBaby2 · 13/02/2019 21:10

@curlywurlywooo drink all the tonic. I add lime to it so it nearly tastes like G&T! Such a lovely sound that rumble of the hb. I don't think we hear it at the midwife appointment until much later in my neck of the woods :-(

Who's still to have scans??

Ooh me please 21st Aug DC2

They dont listen to the heartbeat here til much later on, I'm sure I was 25w or more til they started that at appointments for the reason above that they dont want to worry you if they can't hear it when baby is still so small and can be hiding in a difficult place

sacrecoeur0712 · 13/02/2019 21:18

@ScotsBaby2 my scan is tomorrow. I'll update info for the list afterwards (all being well) as I think my EDD will change x

Fuppy · 14/02/2019 00:25

@ScotsBaby2 Add me please, due August 4th DC2

loveshinealight · 14/02/2019 07:19

I had my 12 week scan yesterday and I am 13 weeks exactly! Everything is well and I'm due August 21st. I think it looks like a boy!

August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea
curlywurlywooo · 14/02/2019 08:15

@loveshinealight congratulations! Lovely pic and I agree based on what I’ve read the nub looks like a boy Smile I can’t even see a nub on mine so I’ve given up guessing!

Has anyone felt baby move yet? Last night I felt it kick (I’m 16+3) and it was like a kernel of popcorn popped. I gently pressed my fingers onto my tummy around knicker line and felt the baby kick/push. Then I got DH to feel and he felt it too! This morning I keep feeling movements. Baby was very active in the scan and yesterday when the midwife was listening to the heartbeat he/she kept moving and midwife had to shift the Doppler! Maybe I’m growing an athlete 😂

ABearandABump · 14/02/2019 08:34

So, sat at my desk this morning and I think I may have 'popped' I can't sit as close to my PC anymore. How do they grow so quickly overnight?!

August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea
curlywurlywooo · 14/02/2019 10:04

@ABearandABump wow! I’m jealous!

MrsRyan15 · 14/02/2019 15:11

@curlywurlywooo I had loads of 'popping' sensations in my tummy last night, it was really weird but didn't occur to me that it might be the baby moving!!!

Runningbutnotscared · 14/02/2019 16:08

12 week scan! I can’t wait to find out the sexes, I can take no more surprises.

August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea
clairelee17 · 14/02/2019 16:56

@MrsRyan15 how far along are you? That's so great. I don't think I've been getting many yet, but equally, I'd probably think it's wind anyway!! :)

MrsRyan15 · 14/02/2019 18:30

@clairelee17 I'm 16w. To be honest I assumed it was wind, there's a good chance it probably was but what @curlywurlywooo described as popping was exactly what it was like.

This is my first so I have nothing to go on!!

@Runningbutnotscared lovely scan pics, so jealous that you're having twins!!

curlywurlywooo · 14/02/2019 18:42

@MrsRyan15 this is my first too, and what made me separate the “pop” sensation from wind is that I only experienced one at a time rather than the gurgling/bubbling I usually get with wind 😂 it was defined pops like something moving, like a piece of corn popping and hitting the wall of my womb and also there was none of the usual sound effects that goes with wind in my gut Smile
@Runningbutnotscared wonderful piccies! do twins run in your family? X

Kcjoe · 14/02/2019 19:14

Hi ladies. I had my results back yesterday from the blood test. I'm 1:5 for downs and 1:90 for the other 2. So I'm definitely having cvs on Monday. The risk is higher because of my age (37) and the scan result. I was upset that I didn't get a scan pic on Monday so the screening midwife sent some in the post to me 😍
