Hi all

Welcome to the new thread. The list of names is HUGE! It might be a better idea to start a new list after 12 week scans so we have up to date due dates. It also allows those who have bad news but don't want to share it to leave quietly if they so wish.

I don't even have a scan date! Hurry up and end first trimester.

Farewell first trimester, you shall not be missed! Though I did wake up feeling sick this morning! I have a scan tomorrow, I'm excited but nervous!

Also, anyone getting awful backache when standing or walking?

Floriday · 29/01/2019 04:50

Woke up for the loo and can’t get back to sleep! I keep getting pain in my back and hips, I suffered with sciatica last time and pretty sure this was how it all started around this stage. Had to finish for mat leave at 31 weeks as I struggled to get around. Hoping to get to 37 weeks this time as this takes me to the start of the school summer holidays.

sacrecoeur0712 · 29/01/2019 06:30

@NutRoastCityLimits I'm in a very similar situation to you, DSs similar ages, pushing 40 and definitely last pregnancy for me. I've got my harmony test today.
Just want to wish you all the best and hope you get good news from your cvs. You sound very level headed about it all x

heatherpop · 29/01/2019 08:42

Hi all! Just thought I'd say hello, this is all new to me and although I've read a few threads I haven't committed to being a part of one before. Currently 10+4 and estimated Dd is 24th August. This is my first, but had a mc in September so I'm anxiously waiting for my scan and hoping everything is okay.

ScotsBaby2 · 29/01/2019 08:46

@NutRoastCityLimits fingers crossed that all is OK. Glad you have your boys to distract you and it will make time fly in.

@Chocolate89 that scan picture is amazing. Look at baby's arm!

Not a clear picture but here it is

Jokie · 29/01/2019 09:01

@NutRoastCityLimits; I'm thinking of you and hope it goes well. The OBGYNs in the US are very thorough from my memory.

@heatherpop; welcome to the thread! I hope you get some comfort from the scan!

I was dreaming last night of being sick and since I woke up have been retching like crazy :( I thought this was meant to get better?

ScotsBaby2 · 29/01/2019 09:46

@Rachellev it's pretty clear. Cute wee nose, waving hand.

20 week scan will be much clearer.

Was everything ok?

New due date of August 7th so two days later than originally thought! S/he is so stubborn and wouldn't move for measurements I had to get scanned twice. We eventually got in to the right position and everything is looking perfect I'm so relieved :)

Rachellev · 29/01/2019 12:43

Scan went very well baby was waving arms so relieved and excited

bubblegumunicorn · 29/01/2019 12:47

@astret depending on where you are going could you order kopperberg alcohol free pour it straight in to the glass and your friends will never know! Or becks blue but that's harder to cover up as it looks different! I had a T-total friend who did this occasionally to make us think he'd fallen off the wagon!

bubblegumunicorn · 29/01/2019 12:57

@Jokie is that 12 weeks fully paid? Or just 12 weeks maximum? I don't know about negotiating more time as I'm entitled up to 52 weeks off I just wouldn't get paid for all of it!

Jokie · 29/01/2019 13:09

It's 12 weeks fully paid and that's it. The expectation is that you return after 12 weeks (it can also be 10 weeks if you've needed more time before the birth).

With my first, it was easy to negotiate another 3 months as it was over summer so would be quiet but this company are a little different so I'm trying to find different tactics

pixietheginger · 29/01/2019 13:44

@Jokie does your company offer sabbaticals? We've got the option to extend leave by taking an unpaid sabbatical afterwards

Jokie · 29/01/2019 13:54

@pixietheginger : it's a good point. I'm going to investigate it as I don't think so but it'd be a perfect option for me. What is utterly awful timing is that I'm switching bosses and my new boss is not that "people orientated" so it might be a harder chat than if it was my previous boss who was very fair

pixietheginger · 29/01/2019 14:05

@jokie sorry to hear about new boss. If you have an HR team might be worth discussing with them the options and your rights before approaching new boss. Also, depending on your industry / situation, a card to play might be to explain that it would cost more to replace you (in the hypothetic case you decided to leave because you need more time off) than to extend your leave by a few weeks / months. Recruiting is really expensive in my field and I know my work will be as flexible as possibe to avoid a resignation. Aware this might not be the case for all, but just in case it helps!

Blueberry2018 · 29/01/2019 14:27

Had scan today, all fine. New EDD 7th Aug 2019! So relieved!

marajade12 · 29/01/2019 15:24

Feeling a bit down today, I’ve been doing a bit too much googling. My baby potentially has their bowel on the outside which was picked up at 12 week scan. Back again for another scan next Wednesday.

Does any know how long the NT screening tests take to come back? I had mine almost a week ago and I am assuming no news is good news at this point.

QueenofFox · 29/01/2019 15:40

@marajade12 what type of NT test did you have? The NIPT take 4-7 working days. The other bloods are 7 I think but you only get a call if there's news otherwise you get a letter in the post.

I'm nervous too about tests. I have to take a full day off for CVS which work is being shitty about and just want this testing part to be over.

marajade12 · 29/01/2019 15:55

@QueenofFox it was the combined test (nuchal thickness plus blood test). I think they said they would phone quicker if I came back high risk and results would follow in the post. The nt was within normal range, 1.3mm.

All this waiting is so hard.

EverythingNow · 29/01/2019 15:56

@marajade12 I had my scan and bloods taken last Wednesday (first thing in the morning) and they arrived in the post today. The letter was dated the 24th (Thursday) so pretty quick turnaround.

Elmamadegatita · 29/01/2019 17:32

Had my scan today, wee bean was mooning us and wiggling it's bum for daddy and granny! All looks well, it's now really hitting home. There's a little person in my body, eek!
I'm completely in love!

Jokie · 29/01/2019 18:03

@marajade12: my NIPT testing took 10 days to come through. I hope it's nothing serious

@Elmamadegatita; wonderful news!

PinkLady89x · 30/01/2019 10:41

I've got my second reassurance scan tomorrow and I'm absolutely terrified! If everything was great at the 8 week scan, does that make the chance of this 10 week scan being okay higher? I still feel awful with nausea but I can't help but worry that it's going to be bad news tomorrow. I have been fine over the last 2 weeks but now I'm starting to panic. This is so hard!

milly2000 · 30/01/2019 11:19

@PinkLady89x I no exactly how you feel I was the same before my 10 week scan! And by that point my sickness had eased off so I'd convinced myself it was bad news!

If everything was going well at 8 weeks I would say you chances of everything going great at the 10 week scan is higher for sure. You'll see so much at the scan as well it will be amazing! I have everything crossed for you I'm sure everything is going as it should!
