August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea

Hi all

Welcome to the new thread. The list of names is HUGE! It might be a better idea to start a new list after 12 week scans so we have up to date due dates. It also allows those who have bad news but don't want to share it to leave quietly if they so wish.

I don't even have a scan date! Hurry up and end first trimester.

Had my scan and all looks perfect!! So relieved, I'm really going to try and enjoy this pregnancy now. Might even tell some friends this evening!

Rachellev · 28/01/2019 17:28

Hey everyone had my scan been dated one day less than I thought. But still amazing baby playing away waving hands was amazing to see!!!
Due date 16th August

Astret · 28/01/2019 18:57

thanks @1Bobbinwinder will perhaps order something and leave as you suggest - can always claim it's nasty tasting!

Good luck @Kcjoe hope they manage to extract the offending implement..

RaindropsRoses · 28/01/2019 19:24

@Jokie what kind of time off do you mean? You're entitled to time off for all maternity appointments and then maternity leave plus annual leave?

@astret I would pretend to drink if it's a drinks kind of thing you can get away with (rather than a sit down meal with table service!)

MummaGiles · 28/01/2019 19:42

Do we have any multiples in the group yet?

stylix1981 · 28/01/2019 19:44

Had scan today date only altered by 1 day so new due date of 8th aug.

Baby was bein a lil bugger was positioned sat straight up so they had to try n scan from the side (no go), then they told me to go for a wee and then drink more as bladder movement would move the baby. Yeah the baby moved allright decided to lay with its head and feet facing downwards so still couldnt get decent pics or neck measurements lol.

@RaindropsRoses: I want to negotiate more time off than legally entitled to. Where I am, you only get 12 weeks post birth, and I want to argue to get more.

ScotsBaby2 · 28/01/2019 20:01

@ss3ajb Thursday here too! 11am. Only 3 days and 3 hours.

@Astret I managed to get out of drinking last weekend by saying I was up super early to drive 2 hours away. I even joked about not being pregnant and how it'll be the talk of the town. I think they bought it. Will see next week when I tell them lol

Hi all, I had my scan on Friday and all was good. Relieved to see that the baby was far more chilled than DS1 who was doing somersaults the whole time at his scan (and is much like that in real life too..). Due date is 5/8/19

NutRoastCityLimits · 28/01/2019 21:04

Had one scan that confirmed it was a baby and not just flatulence, and also as NIPT blood test. But they've just called and said I have a possibility of Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome, usually not survivable at birth). So now I have to go for a CVS (placental biopsy) on Wednesday. DH away all week. In a new country and no-one to talk to or go with. This all sucks balls.

DC3, 1 August. Maybe...

MummaGiles · 28/01/2019 21:09

@ScotsBaby2 haha no, was just wondering! My grandad was a twin but I don’t expect I’m carrying more than one. Haven’t been sick enough for a start!

QueenofFox · 28/01/2019 21:13

@NutRoastCityLimits I'm sorry to hear that. I've got CVS booked for next Wednesday if they can get to the placenta properly. I'm shitting it. Have my 12 wk Scan on Monday so eventful week. Hope it's good news. My friend has a daughter with Edwards syndrome who just turned two. It's not easy though.

MummaGiles · 28/01/2019 21:16

@NutRoastCityLimits sorry to hear you need more tests. We are all here for a hand hold.

UnicornDust17 · 28/01/2019 21:21

@NutRoastCityLimits sorry to hear that, it must be a very worrying time for you. Our local trust offer NIPD testing on the NHS, is this something your hospital may offer? It's basically the NHS version of the harmony blood test, I believe? Someone else may be bale to correct me though.

Fingers crossed for you x

sunshine1987 · 28/01/2019 21:32

@unicornsust17 the NIPT is the harmony test she’s already had x

@nutroastcitylimits I’m sorry you’re going through this, just remember it’s a screening test and not 100% accurate. Keep positive xx

NutRoastCityLimits · 28/01/2019 21:45

Thank you @sunshine1987 and @mummagiles and @queenoffox - xxx

I'm in America for work for the foreseeable so the NIPT/Harmony test is part of the screening they do here. (Of course I refer back to the NHS notes on everything because they are just so much better written and clearer! I miss the NHS sooooo much)

Just reading about how hard sell these blood testing/NITP companies are and that they boast 99% but that's actually sensitivity - ie detection rates of definite positives - and not accuracy. Very misleading. One investigation by the Boston Globe said their accuracy could be as low as 50% and therefore actually triggering women to have terminations unnecessarily... ANYWAY if I can get through Wednesday, let's see what happens. I'm ancient, so if this last baby doesn't work out, the oven is closing for business. It's all just so stressful, even third time round!

@queenoffox Lots of love and luck to you for yours xx

ABearandABump · 28/01/2019 21:51

Has anyone started buying any baby bits yet? I caved and bought a few little babygrows yesterday - now I feel like I'm preempting fate Sad.

I'm 12 weeks tomorrow. Time is going so quickly! X

Chocolate89 · 28/01/2019 21:53

Scan was fine today, growing well on par with dates!

@nutroastcitylimits im sorry to hear you have to have more tests! How long does it take for the cvs results? Xx

August 2019 4: All the scans and hopefully the end of nausea
RaindropsRoses · 28/01/2019 21:57

Jokie oh I see, I have no idea then sorry I'm only aware of UK laws. Hopefully someone else can help. That's not very long at all 😔

@NutRoastCityLimits good luck for Wednesday, hugs. That's rubbish waiting for more info, hope you get the results fast?

NutRoastCityLimits · 28/01/2019 21:59

Thanks @chocolate89

Well from what I've read on other (very helpful) mumsnet threads, they can tell pretty confidently on the ultrasound if there are distinctive markers like loads of fluid or a larger 'strawberry' head etc etc, so that's fairly instant, but the testing bit can take another two weeks. Ho hum... This is where the delightful benefit of the joyful and distracting 9 and 7 year old DSs comes into play... bless my beautiful boys. x

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/01/2019 22:04

Oh nutroastcitylimits Flowers so sorry you are facing this, i hope it is a false alarm

emma1224 · 28/01/2019 23:01

@Chocolate89 loving your scan ! Baby is waving!!

@ABearandABump I bought a elephant teddy 😂 nothing else yet going to wait for my 20 week in March so I can know what baby is and then I can go WILD

Anyone else finding out the sex of baby xx

Cobblestones · 28/01/2019 23:33

@nutroastcitylimits I’m so sorry. It must be devastating hearing this and having to go through more tests. 💐
