My sis Sara would be flattered but its the other sisters that I am worried about, personnally if I had a daughter who turned out like her I would be delighted, she is class

Pheebe · 06/07/2007 10:42

{{{ejt}}} will be thinking of you and your dad, try and ignore your sis I would imagine she's probably in shock and feeling guilty, can't have been easy for her to see

Polar - I spose it depends how they're pronounced:

Sara as in s-hair-a or S-har-a

Does that make sense? But agree think it would be more flattering than anything

PolarMummy · 06/07/2007 10:48

Pheebe its pronounced the same as Sarah so s-hair-a I supposed

FloriaTosca · 06/07/2007 11:00

EJT; sorry about your Dad, but agree he was in one of the best places for it to happen. My Dad had his first heart attack at 59 and we lived with the worry of it happening again for the last 15 years..as it happens the first big one he had was actually under observation in hospital (I had fored him in there when he was having "acute indigestion" that was making his lips turn blue!!!!), they had just done a treadmill test on him, brought him back to the ward and the doctors were in the corridor telling my Mum that there was absolutely nothing wrong with him when the crash cart rushed past them to get to him as he had collapsed by his bed!!!!! He had 2 more over the years, one washing up by the kitchen sink and the other in Tescos...but in the end it was the lung cancer associated with asbestosis that took him in March aged 74, not his heart at all! Your sister is just feeling guilty because she felt so helpless when it happened (believe me I know that feeling too).
Try not to worry too much; heart medication is truly amazing these days. I dearly hope he is ok.

FloriaTosca · 06/07/2007 11:12

Polar; it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks, it is your thoughts and feelings about a name that matters. ...personally I think it is a lovely name and if it has good associations for you then use it..

PolarMummy · 06/07/2007 11:39

Folks if anyone likes bean bags or is looking for a cheap way to add additional occasional seating to your houses have a look at www.beanbagbazaar.co.uk I have just got stuff delivered from there and it is amazing

Hi everyone

Polar - so glad everything's ok

EJt - sorry about your father. Hope he's okay.

I agree with Floria about the name thing - it's not the same name, and even if it were, it's up to you. Personally I don't think it's close enough to worry about anyway. Dh and I were talking names last night. Oh, it's not going to be easy!!

Does this sound familiar? - Keep finding self in RL conversations wanting to say things like 'Muppetgirl was saying...' or 'Floria thought ...' but can't always be bothered to do the whole explaining what MN is. Sometimes makes me feel strangely detatched from RL . Loving this AN group though even if it is turning me into RL weirdo!

Off for lunch now. At grotty pub. But with nice friends. See ya. x

Pheebe · 06/07/2007 12:10

Polar - how about Zahara for your lo then, I think its a beutiful name and different enough from Sara

PolarMummy · 06/07/2007 12:12

LOL Apricott sounds very familiar I just say a friend said saves all the explaining!

I am supposed to be working from home today but the motivation just isn't there I am sitting here with two laptops but spending more time on my personal one than work one!

Pheebe · 06/07/2007 12:12

Appricott - I that trouble to when telling DH stuff. Have started to day 'the girls' he know straight away who I mean

muppetgirl · 06/07/2007 12:32

Hi all,
You've all been chatting loads so sorry if I've missed anyone!

Mrs Fish -Thanks for the link -Puddings sound great (especially for sweet tooth me!)
Have just made chocolater mousse for ds and dh.

Now here's another food debate -is it okay to eat chocolate mousse as has uncooked egg whites in??

J20 -Fantastic on the stair carpet!! Just agree with the other -TAKS IT EASY!!

Polarmummy -Great news about lo, hope that has taught them a lesson in not to worry mummy too much!!

EJT -Sorry to hear about your dad I hope he gets better soon

Apricott -I had strange looks from dh about things we had all been chatting about, 'Floria, thinks....' Decided to go with 'the girls' also.

This morning I made 3x Cauliflower cheeses -2 to freeze and one for piggy me!
Also a chocolate mousse.

Well, I emailed about 6 Doulas yesterday looking for info on what support they offer postnatally. Most of them have emailed back so I'm just off to phone them back for a chat.

FloriaTosca · 06/07/2007 12:44

muppet; I'm not 100% sure about egg whites but I got the impression that it is only the yolk that can give you food poisoning... apparently the chances of getting anything from soft yolks is very slim too especially from lion grade eggs though I will admit that I've not risked it...

ejt1764 · 06/07/2007 14:56

hurray - dad has been discharged from hospital ... have spoken to him, and he's fine, but basically ok.

They don't think it's his heart, they think that his spray thing (that he has to use if he has any chest pain) lowered his blood pressure too much, hence why he passed out.

Phew ...

Thank you for your lovely messages - am going to go to bed for a bit, as I didn't sleep too well last night ... a mixture of worrying about dad, and ds being very clingy and upset in the night - he ended up in bed with me - dh was relegated to ds's bed!

take care all,
ejt xx

muppetgirl · 06/07/2007 14:58

Hi al

Glad your dad is ok, and nothing to worry about.

Im at my sisters today, she resuced me from boredom, shes on the due Nov group

I thought egg whites are more dangerous than yolks, thats why you are allowed to eat dippy eggs but have to be so careful with things like home made mayo, merrage ect I could be wrong though.

I have the task of sorting ouot shed and loft, well dh is lifting im just tellig him where to put it . We have set aside the whole weekend to sort out, and have so much to do agggg.
What has everyone got planned for the weekend? Its meant o get better weatherwise.

Hugs to all that need then today

Lisa

muppetgirl · 06/07/2007 17:39

Can I have a short moan??

My dh has just rung and said he has been doing research into the dvd things that go in the back of the car for your kids. Great idea I say.

He says, 'Well I am going up to mum's tomorrow with Ollie on my own so thought I might need it.'
(to Manchester from Swindon 3 hrs)

?!?!?!?!

I have taken Ollie many places, the last was to porstmouth to see hms victory which he was over the moon with ('I want to go on the pirate ship mummy. Pirates say oo ar don't they?') we came back, it 2 1/2 hrs, the last of which he spent screaming as he had just woken up with a start.

Not once have I mentioned geting one and neither had dh when I came back frazzled from any of my journeys with Ollie.

Hi everyone!! Hope bumps and mums all ok.

I had day off today and shame of shames, have done nothing except watch rubbish tv, post on MN and start a jigsaw . Oh and just woken from my afternoon nap which was bliss!!! Cannot wait for my mat leave to start - still 6 weeks to go unfortunately!!

Muppet - is the motto of this story to let him do things 'on his own' sooner - then the conveniences such as in car DVD will come around sooner? Has he managed to buy one already?

Inzi - you have seen an amby?? I ordered mine the other day but havent actually seen it in a shop!! cannot wait to see it now? actually cannot wait to see all the nursery stuff I have ordered! Am starting to get so excited and am worried I will peak too soon and slip into boredom and frustration??

Roll on nice weather tomorrow!

FloriaTosca · 06/07/2007 18:36

So glad about your Dad EJT, hope you had a good nap.

Inzi, you succumbed to the Amby too . I knew I should have bought shares in the company before telling everyone about it!!!

Anyone need a changing table? I have just been offered one (not seen it but it was offered by someone who is very careful with things so it is probably in great condition) but I really dont need one (we have a complete bedroom suite that just needs a changing mat putting on the dresser) . Anyway it is in SE Lancashire if anyone is interested and wants to pick it up. Its going on freecycle if not.

lisad123 · 06/07/2007 18:55
