Is this board functioning - no posts to keep me amused all afternoon ... or is my system playing up?

Hi all, have just finished making 2 batches of ginger snaps and 2 batches of leek potato and onion soup to freeze.
J2- -you have inspired me!
Yesterday I made a maracroni with bacon and leaks and froze 2 portions of that, Later this evening i'm making chocolate mousse (to freeze also) and tomorrow ds and I are making pizzas for tea and will make an extra one to freeze.

Decided no point sitting around feeling sorry for myself...

Feeling good about having food to eat if I'm too tired -as was the case last week.

OMG I've become a mumsnet troll!! My DH has banned me from posting anything else on this thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2403&threadid=348810&stamp=070703181237

It seems I've turned into a hormonal, militant, anti-establishment campaigner and if he didn't know that wasn't me at all he'd divorce me

In my defense I'm tired, have the headache from hell, ache all over and am sick of everyone asking me for money!

I love teachers, I really do, I think they do a fabulous job under difficult circumstances. My mum was a teacher and I have several friends who teach in primary and secondary schoold. I just find the idea of having to buy them spa vouchers, take them out for meals, or pamper hampers weird!

[ashamed at being a mean, nasty grumbly type person emoticon]

Hope everyones OK here. Haven't had time to catch up properly. Will go to bed and recover my own normal personality!!!

Evening all ... promise no mammouth posts tonight!

Great to see you again buffy ... have to admit to getting a bit worried about you! Sorry to hear about spd - mine is pretty atrocious too!

pheebe - at you having a rant about the holidays ... if it's any consolation, I haven't taken part in that thread for the simple reason that as a secondary teacher in an inner-city comp, I tend not to get given pressies ... but am that people are buying teachers spa vouchers ... I obviously work in the wrong place!

Waving at everybody else ....

went to pelvic pain class today - and have been given a new pair of crutches (mine were condemned!), and, more to the point, an enormous maternity brace ... it's about 12" wide, and has 3 straps ... it's not pretty, but at least it helps!

Going to hydrotherapy tomorrow - really looking forward to it!

Had a severe comedy moment this morning - dh and I decided to get 'close' ... well, between my pelvic problems & his bad back, it was something of an achievement tht we managed it - haven't laughed so much during the deed for ages!
DH's back is getting better - he went to work today ... but is looking a bit grey now!

Right, off to do stories!

j20baby · 03/07/2007 19:15

hi all, i wont post a lot as i ache all over and its hard to type, i think i've got a virus, also bad sickness and diarrhoea, am a bit worried as i've got a lot of stomach cramps and m panicking its going to bring early lablur on, also dd is playing up, saying she wishes i was like other peoples mums, that aren't ill, all because i strungled to get upstairs to say goodnight, sometimes i really dislike her, especially when i feel like this.
sorry for the rant, hope your all ok x

muppetgirl · 03/07/2007 19:20

Pheebe!!!!!
That is really funny!
I really don't think any teachers expect presents though, I think it's another thing for mothers to get comeptative about

J20 - hope you feel better tomorrow {{hugs}}

lisad123 · 03/07/2007 20:47

Evening all

LOl @ pheebe, I used to teach, but loved the home made cards and pressie nmore than brought ones. Its strange now though, working for social services (when Im not stuck at home) and we are completely forbidden to take any pressies at all. My job is harder now that working at the school.

My sister popped in earlier, which was nice and my other sister who read my post about going to scan alone offered to come with me. She cant come as its at a bad time for her picking the kids up.

However, DH work have agreed that he can arrive 30 mintutes later for 4-5 weeks from sept to allow him to drop dd to school. Its uphill and i dont think i can make it in my wheelchair.

Im watching the 3 fat brides, and 1 thin dress and all the food looks lovely the healthy stuff, which i had time to make it hmmm fooodddd hehe

Pheebe · 04/07/2007 08:14

Morning all

Feeling much more like my own self this morning, and look...I didn't even respond to the nasty and personal comments on the presents thread!

I think everyone missed the point I was trying to make, probably because I made it in such an over the top and aggressive way! Hope I didn't offend any teachers/ex-teachers on here, not my intention at all. All I wanted to do was point out its not necessary to spend huge amounts of money on thank you gifts and that imo it sets the wrong example. Anyway, off my soap box now

Hope we're all well this morning, started sorting out the spare room so we can get bubs room ready last night. Got piles of baby stuff to sort through too (see I'm as materialistic as the next mum ). Hopefully I'll find there are one or two things I just have to go out an buy new

DS needs his brekkie, back to RL

muppetgirl · 04/07/2007 08:19

I can't even bring myself to measure my waist, its gigantic. When I stand up now I can't see my feet

DH is loving the natural boob job though shame I'm just not in the mood

Woooozle100 · 04/07/2007 08:44

Hello All

Really don't get much chance to post much anymore. Just wanted to say hi and see how everyone is getting on.

Last scan at 22 weeks was fine. We are having a boy. Just chuffed all is seemingly going ok

Getting rather large - see if I can find flexible tape measure in a bit. Foolishly put on old pair of size 8 knickers yesterday. Looked like I was wearing flesh and bruise pants once I'd taken em off. Ouch!!!

Anyone had / planning to have 4d scan? We are having one in 4 weeks time (and also regular scans every 2-4 weeks after that due to previous growth probs in pregnancy)

Inadvertantly ate a brie sandwich at work meeting last week and was a complete neurotic mess afterwards! Tried to sane myself out with Zoe Williams article but 'silent listeriosis' still bothering me, however unlikely the scenario is!

Heartburn really come on leaps and bounds over the last week. Am finding ice cream is quite nice for it (trade that off for flesh pants )

Pheebe · 04/07/2007 08:48

Welcome back ejb and congats on your scan and little boy same here

Lol about the size 8 nicks. I still can't bring myself to buy maternity pants yet...

Am with you on the heartburn front, found some fruit flavoured settlers tums which seem to be helping as I can't stand mint

Off to nursery and work now...

MrsFish · 04/07/2007 09:01

Hi Ejb - I had a 3d scan last week, there are a couple of pics in my profile

My bump at its widest part is 42 inches, so no change for a few weeks now, the weight has gone up though, and I find sleeping on my left side makes my heartburn worse, the right side is ok

Lo was really going for it last night, must have done a few 180 turns, felt like I was hosting a wrestling match

Pheebe · 04/07/2007 09:09

Is anyone else finding it quite painful when lo flips about? The kicks aren't too bad, but its starting to really hurt when he turns over. Don't remember it being painful at all with DS1

MrsFish · 04/07/2007 09:17

Yeah, I'm finding it really uncomfortable, I was lying in bed last night and I was moaning and groaning every time he moved...

just realised how that sounds, I of course mean lo NOT DH

Mumpbump · 04/07/2007 09:24

Morning all!

Well, we almost got flooded last night - the "soak-away" in front of the front door is blocked due to all the building work and the water started coming in. Ds was watching it going "uh oh!" again and again. Dh got a broom and started sweeping it away down the path and I got the dustpan which ds then grabbed off me to help his dada! SO cute and I'm so proud of my helpful little boy!!

Think my sister might be pg, but not sure...

Congratulations EJB on the news! Very pleased for you Don't worry too much about the brie. I think nowadays, most of it is made from pasteurised milk so there isn't the same risk of listeria. TBH, I ate it all through the last pg and have eaten quite a lot through this one too!

J20 - it must be really tough without someone to take your dd off your hands and give you a break. One of the many plus sides of dh having children from his previous marriage is that when he collects them/takes them home, he often takes ds with him and I get about 1.5 hours to myself!!

Woooozle100 · 04/07/2007 09:52

Mrs Fish - I love yr scan piccies. Ha ha - I'm picturing him covering his face and going 'no photo's, no photo's' like some reluctant celebrity Really liking ds1's birthday pressie as well!

Pheebee - just read yr other thread. Pfff! Agree with you that the expectation of a pressie (like a spa day. Eek - my own mom don't get that caliber of present from me!) is a bit much. If you want to give / make a gift - fine but shouldn't be an obligation. My dd has about 30 or so professionals involved in her various therapies / groups so don't know where I'd start myself!

Hello Mumpbump. Narrow escape with the flooding. Hope rain stops and threat goes away for good. V scary.

Have been bit uncomfortable in the night as well. Woke up and yelled for about a minute cos of leg cramp in the early hours. Dh woke up in a mad panic, he didn't know what was going on - and I disturbed dd (makes a change though, eh?)

FloriaTosca · 04/07/2007 09:54

Hi All (waves!)
EJB; good to see you again and glad to hear your wonderful news. at ever being able to get into size 8 pants! Dont think I've been able to get my big behind into that size since I was about 12!
J20; hope you are feeling better this morning
Mump; glad you avoided getting flooded last night.

Had a wee bit of a scare last night..only for a few seconds but omg! did my blood pressure soar...seeing a pupil to the front door I felt a little "sticky" down below so went to the bathroom to find my upper thighs covered in blood (sorry if TMI but..) on the verge of utter hysteria, about to scream for DH I wiped underneath to see the extent of the damage and....nothing!....did it again...nothing?...utterly confused I look for cuts on my leg or something and then see my tummy where I had injected my heparin (9 hours earlier!!) is dripping from the puncture wound!!! I must have hit a blood vessel or something, though why it waited 9 hours to start leaking I dont know! A plaster sorted it and I left a message for my heparin nurse to phone if she thought I needed to reduce the dose...Laughing about it now but OMG! was that 30 secs of panic!!!!
LO gave me a few reassuring gentle taps (felt like hands rather than feet)when we went to bed last night....it was lovely..and I apart from the usual heart burn at 3am I actually slept for a change!!! (probably exhausted from the massive adrenalin surge earlier!!!)
Off to walk the dog in the rain now..have a good morning all.
