Off to the midwife in a bit for my 34 week check - very glad to be the end of my life as a pin cushion.... Hopefully!!!
Very sick of being pregnant this time, it's definitely been much worse! Next week is my big week as final growth scan and consultant planning appointment - hopefully I'll have a kind of end point by then with all the issues

@Gronk27 hope you are feeling a bit better?

@cardboard33 @SquirtlesMumAgain @SharonO225 it's so interesting to see how other people's care is working, I am consultant led but have normal/regular midwife appointments too.. the consultant appointments are always considered to be 'extra' not instead of midwife appointments but doesn't seem to be the same everywhere? Maybe it also depends why you are consultant led? As I am on the midwife led unit for birth 🀞🏼

@Happyfeet131989 I don't blame you! I'm only 34+5 and also ready to get this baby out (although not quite yet please).

Hope everyone else is doing okay today? Sending positive thoughts xx

I have noticed a change in movements again today. Since about 18/19 weeks he's woken me up everyday with big jolty movements but hasn't this morning. I haven't actually noticed any movements unless I've been actively trying too, usually he stops me in my tracks! He is moving but not at the usual rate, I'm going to ring delivery suite again I think.. I bet the trace will come up as normal again but do you think it would be unreasonable to ask for a scan? As I really think it would reassure me to see that he is doing okay with my own eyes as this is the second time in three days I've noticed this Sad xx

@caseofellen @hidcat thanks ladies I feel fine, just randomly the room goes a bit spinny. Midwife in the morning and taking it easy today.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 12/02/2019 10:22

Hope movements pick up @caseofEllen. Is there something in particular you'd hope to get from the scan vs trace?

@Gronk27 do mention it to your midwife if it's still happening tomorrow. Can be a sign of other things going on (or just stress relieved) but definitely worth a mention.

Thanks @SquirtlesMumAgain I'm not sure really. I just have horrible visions of his cord being wrapped around and the trace not picking it up! Dramatic I know, I'm just so anxious about it. Especially as he's been so so active since 18 weeks xx

Report
SquirtlesMumAgain · 12/02/2019 10:40

I don't know if a scan would pick that up - they are so big now that the scans don't see a lot. I'm not an expert by any stretch in what a scan can pick up just have been through a lot of scans at this point in both pregnancies now and it doesn't ever really show a lot (my tiny 4lb 15oz baby filled the screen for various angles!)
Might be better to highlight that specific concern with the team as they may be able to ease that rather than just a general check :)

CaseofEllen · 12/02/2019 12:02

Yes I agree @SquirtlesMumAgain at my last scan they couldn't really see baby's head or face too well as he was so low down. I will bring it up with them for some reassurance! DP will be home from work this afternoon and hopefully that will help with anxiety around all this too. He will sit and help me focus on movements, bless him xx

@CaseofEllen sorry to hear you're not happy with movements today. At the hospital I'm at they do a scan after two episodes of reduced movement with daily ctgs before the scan. I had one two weeks ago on Friday then went back in 2 days later on the Sunday for reduced movements and so they're scanning me again this Friday. If not a scan could you possibly go in for daily or twice weekly monitoring for a while to put your mind at ease if they have a day unit?

@Happyfeet131989 I'm very fed up of being pregnant. Had a weird emotional cry last night once DP was asleep. I got a song in my head that we listen to when we drive down to Cornwall each year. Just kind of hit home that the stuff we used to do wil never be the same. I know things will be better and I won't feel like this once baby is here. Just got a bit overwhelmed.

Seem to have much more bladder pressure since baby started to engage. I can be stood there washing my hands after just using the toilet and feel like I'm desperate for wee. Samples all clear for UTI s so think it's just baby being low.

Meant to be going hospital bag shopping with my mum tomorrow and dreading it as after a few steps I feel so uncomfortable with the pressure but know it needs to be done. Very ready to have baby here now!

@Happyfeet131989 Hi πŸ‘‹ Lucky you! I don't finish until 1st March but its really only 9 more days of work as I take Wednesday's on leave to break up the week. And will prob take few days off for mid term next week! As uncomfortable and big that I'm getting I'm still not feeling ready for some reason. All is bought now just few bits like nursing vest tops to get and mattress protector for crib.

Are you all organised now?

@melissa112 this is what I'm confused about, if I report reduced movements does the hospital count that as an episode of reduced movements? Or do they have to actually detect low movements on the trace for it to count? As they're saying movements look normal but they don't feel normal to me Confused I am booked in for a growth scan on 27th February (36+6) and they have said they may consider induction.

Do you have much left to get for your hospital bag? Xx

Report
melissa112 · 12/02/2019 13:51

@CaseofEllen when I've been for reduced movements he's always picked up by the time I've got on the monitor but they still class me coming in with reduced movements as an episode if that makes sense? There's been a couple of times over the last week where I've been in for monitoring and not felt much movement but they've been happy with the heart rate trace so unsure what they are looking for.

Are you happy with the induction plan if it goes ahead on the 27th?

I've still got pretty much everything to buy for the hospital bag πŸ™ˆ I realised the other day that I have no 0-1 months baby grows. Lots of newborn and 0-3 but nothing in between! So need to buy some of those. Nursing bras, nighties etc and all the maternity pads, toiletries etc. Really wishing I didn't leave it til now as I just cannot be bothered!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 12/02/2019 14:10

0-1 month babygros arent really needed as such, just look at the weight ranges of the ones you have as unless it's a gap to fill it is just a sizing that shops put in to sell more! You can always buy things when baby is here if you need them!

Report
melissa112 · 12/02/2019 14:44

A lot of the first size ones we have are up to 8lbs so I think they'll be fine at first. The 0-3 ones just look so much bigger but guess I have no idea how big he'll be yet!

Gronk27 · 12/02/2019 18:04

@squirtlesmumagain I definitely will mention it, thank you. Hasn't really happened today but then I've not really moved off the sofa!! I've been so lucky all pregnancy apart from the textbook stuff so fingers crossed. I'm worrying now it's something that means I won't get my birth centre pool birth (hypnobirthing tells me this ok, I can use it anywhere!)

DH is getting all the baby stuff down from the loft tonight so I can start sorting and washing it and pick out the bits for the hospital bag. Going to do the zip lock bag trick and write the size on in a sharpie! In fact I might do that with most things haha. 'BIG FAT MATERNITY PADS' 'NIPPLE PADS-(YOU HEARD)' Nearly time to start perineum massage-hurray.

Anyone rate Sleepyheads?

@melissa112 sometimes it feels like you're walking around with a slight obstruction in an unmentionable place! I've been walking like John Wayne. Every brand really differs in sizes so as Squirtles said check the weights if you can rather than the 'size' or even measure them against each other.

Report
CaseofEllen · 12/02/2019 18:40

@melissa112 yes that makes sense, I'm hoping that's what they do as obviously I'm the only one that can say 'his movements feel reduced' οΏΌ if they decide to induce at 37/38 weeks I think I'll be happy with that. He's growing a little big, although I know they're not always right with this stuff! Hope hospital bag shopping goes well, just make sure to take rest breaks when you need them! And treat yourselves to something nice to eat and drink to make it a bit easier οΏΌ xx

@Gronk27 have you done perineum massage before? If you don't mind me asking.. I read about it and I was like ConfusedHmm but would give anything ago to help with birth/after birth I think! Xx

Gronk27 · 12/02/2019 18:57

We had a sleepyhead for dd @Gronk27 bought in desperation at 3am one morning it was amazing but I know some people don’t like using them for over night sleeping.

@caseofollen I was a bit hesitant but essentially it’s (and sorry to be graphic) only where they’ve been before in. Planning on using olive oil. I couldn’t teach myself now! Xx

@wineandchoccy thanks for that. I’m tempted by a second hand one.

I cant imagine my husband having the maturity to do perineal massage without making stupid noises at making it awkward πŸ˜‚

Report
BadBadBeans · 12/02/2019 22:42

@CaseofEllen I did perineal massage by myself before. I used coconut oil that I had melted a bit (not hot though - be careful!!!!!). Bit awkward reaching around the bump but I did manage it.

I have started crocheting a baby blanket now. Doing a really simple giant granny square (but in a gorgeous yarn) so that I will finish it in time. A tiny little hat is also on my to-do list! I did a blanket and a hat for DS and I don't want second-born to dip out!

If I can get a bit personal, can I ask how people's sex lives are at the moment? We haven't done anything in nearly six weeks. I am feeling a bit guilty but my libido is very low and DH is very politely not propositioning. It took me literally months to feel okay with sex again after DS - we only did it three times in six months before things got back on track - so I feel like I ought to be having sex now while I can. But I'm not! Argh!

@BadBadBeans I've had no sex drive since about 14 weeks. We've had sex once since then. My partners been very good about it, it was hard at first for him but I think that was because we'd only been together 9 months when I found out I was pregnant so it was difficult for him to figure out it was my hormones not how I felt about him that had changed

Report
Angelmiracle · 12/02/2019 23:43

@BadBadBeans we managed it twice last week even though pelvic pain makes it rather difficult. I was in the notion really so thought I may as well DH thought it was his birthday πŸ˜‚ Probably was 3 weeks prior to that just one time. Usually do other 'stuff' weekly than the full thing haha. Bit like you're thinking try to fit in a few sessions now as could be quite a dry spell after the birth Grin

@Gronk27 my sister's baby (15 weeks) loves the sleepyhead and she's trying to wean him off it but it's not going so well she can't get him to sleep as long without it! Hers was 2nd hand too.
