@Gronk27 and @SquirtlesMumAgain Good luck at aldi!!! I got a phone call from my mum this morning who had popped into aldi asking me if there was anything I wanted. She came back with loads!! A room/bath thermometer, a health set of clippers/combs etc (not sure if I'll use it but it's nice to have I suppose), bottle bags... bibs and muslins galore! I have visions of her acting like she's on supermarket sweep!

Growth scan today 28+6 - baby 3lb3oz on 50th percentile. Met the consultant himself he was lovely! He is very happy and won't see me for 4 weeks now. Iron is 104 so need to get prescription from GP- explains the fainting last week!

I told him I'm considering requesting an ELCS. He said intervention 2nd time is half that of first births and sections aren't without their risks. I said I just can't shake DSs birth so he is arranging for me to have a meeting with the Birth Choices Consultant Midwife - I'm delighted with that!

Also Health Visitor is coming to visit at home in February.

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever that's lovely of your mum!

@assumeitwassomethingclever my Mom’s already done an online order of pretty much everything!! She’s ordered me the backpack. She went in today but it wasn’t a very good one and just got herself some bibs, vests and muslins for her house and me some cellular blankets. I went to a better one and got a changing mat for our bedroom, a Bambino Mio folding changing mat for the lounge, the tommee Tippee healthcare kit, some biodegradable wipes and 3 reusable nappies to trial. The backpack looks good.

My only complaint with the backpack is it's a big shiny!
Going to make some bags to go inside I think to make it easier to keep everything together if I get the chance. Only annoying thing is I will have to buy some water resistant fabric for them as I don't have any in my stash. I annoyingly can't find any pod type patterns which was what I was really after but I will keep searching!

@HidCat how scary. Is everything slowing down? How are you doing? Thinking of all the positive thoughts for you x

I went to Aldi today and got a pile of muslins, the fold up changing mats and a few other bits! I also got two pairs of the reusable nappies and might go back for more. They've got really good reviews and are nearly half price so I reckon they're worth a try Smile

@BadBadBeans Thank you. The online CBT course I've started mentioned how avoiding things provides temporarily relief but also robs you of confidence so if possible, try not to avoid it, just learn to cope with it differently. It's been really good so far!

Welcome @Harley8888 hope you're finding things ok so far. First time mum here too Smile

@Angelmiracle Thanks for the Lidl heads up. I bought some of their maternity leggings on their last event and they are so comfy and quite cheap so I'll be stocking up! Glad the consultant was happy with baby and that you are able to explore the birth option you prefer

We've just been to Aldi and bought the moses basket for downstairs. For Β£30 it seems ok so should last a couple of months before he grows out of it.

Just got back from Aldi. Feel like I got loads but now feel like if I go into labour tomorrow - I've got the essentials. Need to bulk it out more and a few more bath type things to get and a baby monitor, but otherwise.....starting to feel prepared

Im jealous of you all having access to Aldi!!

I also got an email from Boots their baby event starts 16th Jan for 6 weeks. They might have branded items on offer that are appealing.

Hello and welcome @Harley8888 I live near Gatwick so not far from you at all! I'll be having baby at East Surrey, how about yourself?

@Angelmiracle I've had an interesting pregnancy to say the least. Suffered with hyperemesis for most of it and after trying different medication finally found one that works. It meant I took a lot of time off work for sickness which was horrible but am now working from home up until I go on maternity leave! Aside from that getting excited to be at the final stages now!

@ballanj I'm near Gatwick too and will also be having the baby at East Surrey. How has your pregnancy been?

@toastfiend your OH is brilliant. If it's any consolation my Dad used to do stuff like that on purpose!

@VillageFete there are a lot of campaigns against things like the sleepyhead as they're not regarded as safe for unsupervised sleeping but people love them regardless.

@Harley8888 congratulations and welcome!

@Angelmiracle That's good news!

Having a session on the monitor tomorrow morning for doc to review and see if I can go home. Things have been ok but currently having a steady flow of tightenings so sitting in the day room with 4 midwives as lying down is really uncomfortable. They're taking advantage of a lull so it's quite nice to have them there for reassurance. Doc basically said that as long as baby is not showing signs of distress the. I should be fine to go home. If she's distressed they'll keep me in just in case they need to whip her out but they've done a fibronectin test which says I'm not likely to go into labour in the next 2 weeks, just having strong BH.

@HidCat wishing you and baby well today, hope you manage to get home before the weekend. An old colleague of mine messaged me yesterday as she's due two weeks before me and said she thought she was going into labour at 33 weeks. Turned out to be very strong brackston hicks aswell. This pregnancy lark is not easy is it!

@Harley8888 lovely having another Surrey buddy on here. I only moved to the local area from Kent a couple of years ago so feel like a bit of a newbie still! Are you thinking the birthing suite at East Surrey? I'm hoping for a tour of it at some stage and going to ask my midwife at my 31 week check on Tuesday. Would be nice to have a look around! I like that it looks a bit more homely and hopefully if labour is straightforward will be able to give birth there.

@ballanj yeah i dont know any other east surrey mums to be. Ill PM you Smile looks like our due dates aren't too far apart either.. never know we could be there at the same time haha. The birthing suites look lovely, its nice that they have normal beds and not hospital beds - i find hospital environments quite daunting - I'm hoping everything is straightforward enough that I can use them. I did ask about a tour but the midwife said they've stopped doing them at most hospitals due to infection control but they do have a video on YouTube talking through the different services at East Surrey.

@HidCat I don't know how I missed your post yesterday - I hope everything has settled down this morning and that you can go home. Best of luck to you.

@toastfiend that is hilarious! I once managed to go to a friend's house for dinner with my slippers on - because DH was driving I just didn't notice until I got out onto the pavement. So I reckon it's easily done ;)

@VillageFete We agreed March 16th, but I am fully prepared to be bumped for emergencies. So I'm expecting the 17th in my head - that way I won't be disappointed :D

@Gronk27 I didn't see my midwife between 16 weeks and 26 weeks - and I only saw her at 26 weeks because I requested it as I wanted an iron test, otherwise it would have been 28 weeks! I should have rung and asked her to have it ready at the 28 appointment but I wasn't organised enough to think of that! Thanks for the Kit & Kin info.

@melissa112 yes that's exactly what I've found with avoidance - it just reinforces your beliefs that you can't do things. But I'm sure the course will also tell you that it is also important not to try and push yourself to do something too daunting too quickly, as it can backfire if it throws you into a total panic meltdown. (I did this - it was awful!) Little steps, and often. Like the salad! Really glad you are finding it useful already.

I'm home snuggled up with my boy! Have to see the consultant every 2 weeks, be vigilant with movements and go back if tightenings ramp up again but I'm home and baby is still cooking. Phew! Thanks for all your thoughts everyone.

@hidcat good news!

We had our antenatal class at the hospital yesterday, it was really informative and we got to see the birthing suites. I was really impressed with their progressive attitudes to everything and I really want to go in a room where there’s crash mats and a material thing you can hang off and a birthing pool and a bed right in the corner but only for examinations not intended to be utilised much for birth. Does rule out an epidural but I don’t plan on having one-saying that it does make you think twice when it’s not an option!
