Just noticed this rucksack changing bag in the Aldi baby event for £18, doesn't look bad for the price. I think it starts in store on Thursday and online now.

has anyone had a "big" measurement on their growth chart?

34 weeks now and hes measuring "big"... midwife said if hes big again next 2 weeks i will be sent for a scan....

im panicing a bit - currently hes wedged head down in my pelvis....

im NOT ready!!!

lol

lanalawr · 07/01/2019 15:43

Congratulations @Babynum2 ! I hope you're back together soon. Have you had a cuddle with him yet?

@carly2803 I've measured big since 28 weeks when they first measured fundal height. At that point I was measuring four weeks ahead. Slightly less than that now but still big. I've been told I'll be referred at my 36 week appointment on Friday for a growth scan and repeat GTT.

Rowse · 07/01/2019 15:48

@carly2803 I had a routine growth scan at 34 weeks and the midwife measured the bump 3 days later and both put him on the 90th percentile and 'big'. She wasn't at all worried but referred me to the antenatal clinic for blood sugar monitoring as the scan showed his abdomen was large which can be a symptom of gestational diabetes.

I start blood sugar monitoring tomorrow and have a follow up growth scan 2 weeks after the last scan.

Bump measurements are very hard to get accurate, as are the scans so even with all my measurements and the precautionary blood sugar testing the midwife thinks it'll be fine.

Lots of us in the group have had bumps measuring large followed by a scan saying something totally different and much smaller, I had that at 28 weeks too.

Try not to worry too much over the next two weeks, the midwife would have sent you for a scan sooner if she thought there was need and you'll be monitored well from here.

carly2803 · 07/01/2019 15:49

@lanalawr - whats GTT??

im jsut thinking c -section- hes huge lol!! (i want to avoid this at all costs!)

congratualtions babynum2 !!!

HugoBearsMummy · 07/01/2019 15:58

@Babynum2 Congratulations, were you completely prepared? I need to get my arse in gear I have so much to do before DD arrives- I think it's so different with second child, first time around my hospital bag was packed and sat by the door by now lol!

lanalawr · 07/01/2019 16:07

@carly2803 it's glucose tolerance test - the test they use to check for gestational diabetes. Some places seem to do it as standard but others don't. My area don't but I was referred for one before for measuring big - that came back negative for me.

lanalawr · 07/01/2019 16:09

@carly2803 a big baby doesn't necessarily lead to a c section. Also measuring big doesn't necessarily mean the baby is big. It could be the way they're lying or the way you're carrying.

Babynum2 · 07/01/2019 16:44

@hugobearsmummy i was prepared ie hospital bags and everything ready at home for baby but not mentally nor did i have anyone to have DD. In the end dp stayed home i went with mum up to hosp while i got checked then she left and dp just made it in time to see his little man come into world. Not aloud cuddles yet he will be here now till due date x

LookingAtTheStars89 · 07/01/2019 16:48

@Babynum2. Welcome to the preemie club! I was 33+6 so I know how scary and quick it all is! I swear prem labour is a lot quicker. I only pushed twice, once to break my own waters and second he was out! It's overwhelming when they are whisked away. Teddy was ventilated in the NICU.

Fredthespider · 07/01/2019 17:08

@Babynum2 huge congratulations! A good weight for how early he is so hopefully they won't make you stay all the way until due date x

mary99220 · 07/01/2019 18:11
