Just finished my IV Iron at the hospital. I’m such a wimp. I don’t cry but go super quiet and a bit shaky. Makes me more motivated to try for a natural birth as I hate needles so much! Wouldn’t have been so bad if the baby didn’t have a foot in my ribs again so feel even more tense and uncomfortable!

powkin · 18/01/2019 13:20

You’d think pregnancy would be good exposure therapy for needle phobia but it hasn’t really helped, other than just having to go through it all and having the baby as a motivating factor to not avoid it.

hayley013 · 18/01/2019 13:42

@Notquiteagandt well done! It will make life so much easier for you with a baby, and considering how poorly you've been I'd say you've done double amazing haha! Nice news for you for a change xxxx

hayley013 · 18/01/2019 13:43

I've pulled out the exercise ball today, sofa is too uncomfortable on a night so instead of moaning I'm gonna sit on that. DD will think it's great no doubt and launch it all over the living room 🙄

mummymummymummummum · 18/01/2019 14:12

@hayley013 I've not got mine out for that very reason! But am getting a bit fed up of perching on the coffee table instead. Our living room isn't very big, so it will be in the way. I'll get it out once I'm on maternity leave if not before.

HugoBearsMummy · 18/01/2019 14:54

@hayley013 I keep having the same feelings, I even blurted out to my Mum on Saturday that I'm thinking it may not have been a good idea having a second because of DS happiness and how will I love another like I love him etc ! Her response was it's a bit late to think of that now haha. I'm sure we'll all be fine once they are here. Suffering the beginning of SPD symptoms (had it with 1st so I know the signs) really hoping I don't end up on crutches again I have no idea how I'll cope as I'm at home 3 days a week alone with a 3 year old as DH is at work- self employed therefore can not afford to take any time off before baby arrives. It sucks! Midwife already talking of inducing early once I'm full term (37 weeks)...

Yakadee · 18/01/2019 15:30

@Notquiteagandt - well done!!!

Bramble88 · 18/01/2019 15:48

Im due 28th and time seems to be going so slow now..... 😮 anyone else feel the same?

Notquiteagandt · 18/01/2019 16:03

Thanks so much ladies. Such a relief. I am so happy. Still cant quite believe it. But I feel 100% ready for baby now.

bubblybrit · 18/01/2019 16:08

Yes @Bramble88! I’m due on the 16th but feels as if it is years away rather than weeks. My family and friends keep telling me how quickly time has passed and I’m like seriously!?! Cannot wait for baby to arrive x

lanalawr · 18/01/2019 16:39

@Bramble88 at the moment yes. I'm 37 weeks today and feel like it's gone fairly quick until recently. Time is definitely going to slow down now that I'm officially term though. Still two weeks left in work too.

Since2016 · 18/01/2019 17:02

Well done @notquiteagandt !

These last few weeks do pass slowly, particularly if you get to your due date and nothing. Sympathies. At least with a second there isn’t much time for dwelling!! I still have so much to do... I just washed the dog as my pregnancy nose has gone into overdrive again. She’s SO pissed off with me 😂

Leonora94 · 18/01/2019 17:17

Hey guys, is anyone else super itchy and uncomfortable down below? I’m pretty sure I’ve got hemeroids 😭 never had them before and have no idea how to treat but it’s horrid.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 18/01/2019 18:00

@leonora94 I’ve not got them yet, but I had them in my last pregnancies so I’ve no doubt they’ll happen.

I used suppositories and cream last time, as I’d rather they disappeared sooner rather than later.

Make sure you have a high fibre diet, don’t strain when you poo and drink lots of water 👌🏼

Lookingforadvice123 · 18/01/2019 18:11

That's great Notquiteagandt congratulations!!!!

Slightly jealous of everyone with looser bowels as I've been the opposite the last week or two, really constipated! I've upped my fibre but I'm still only generally going every other day when I'm usually once a day reliably. Makes sense as I'm still taking the supplements which I know can cause it due to the iron, plus digestion etc slowing down I suppose.

Is anyone else still taking the supplements? I stopped for ages but I swear they do help with tiredness as I've noticed I'm less tired and energy-less since starting them again.

AliceRR · 18/01/2019 18:23

I try to take my vitamins but I haven’t taken them properly for at least two months

Yakadee · 18/01/2019 18:24

@Lookingforadvice123 - I'm still taking my vitamins, have the whole way through (although have missed the odd one one). I've found mine to be fine and I haven't been particularly constipated at all throughout the pregnancy thankfully x

AvoidingMarking · 18/01/2019 18:31

I haven't taken vitamins since about 15 weeks. Totally forgot about them to be honest.

@Lookingforadvice123 dried apricots are really good 3-4 a day when on iron tablets

Leonora94 · 18/01/2019 18:54

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking thank you x

Since2016 · 18/01/2019 19:04

Still taking supplements - much better than I was last time!

Re constipation. I had a bad phase a few weeks ago - a glass of orange or prune juice each morning has made the world of difference although now I just feel a bit unwell with it so the opposite end of the spectrum!

Leafy2018 · 18/01/2019 19:16

@powkin can I ask how you have come to the decision to have IV iron and was it Ferrinject? My ferritin is on the floor at 5 but haemoglobin was 117 so decided against having the transfusion after reading that 'benefits must clearly outweigh the risks to mother and fetus'. I feel ok in myself other than a bit tired. The possibility of a bad reaction really put me off. I have been the '1%' before and I know I'd be really stressed having it. I'd be really interested to know how you found it.

Lookingforadvice123 · 18/01/2019 19:30

I ordered prune juice and dates in my online shop! Dates soften your cervix too apparently so win win!

Yakadee · 18/01/2019 19:44

Anyone else's boobs suddenly sore. Feels like it did at the beginning? X

powkin · 18/01/2019 19:54

@Leafy2018 my haemaglobin was 103 at last test and 100 is the hospitals threshold I think so the registrar when I went in to the assessment centre on Tuesday suggested it (potentially as they felt the baby might be on the way shortly!). Also, my iron hasn’t improved at all since the blood test before and I don’t tolerate the tablets well so wasn’t taking the full dose.

It was Ferinject - they didn’t tell me about any risks (I think IV iron has changed a lot but still has a bad wrap). They did baseline monitoring for me and PIP, then checked us both again after so was very well monitored. It wasn’t a pleasant experience unless you aren’t at all phased by that stuff but it all makes me feel very funny.

babyp160 · 18/01/2019 20:05

@Yakadee my boobs killed this morning but I was freezing cold when I left for work so wasn't sure if that's why as they were sooo hard 😂🙈
