@chocpop I’d see how you feel chocpop. I’ve been having more pains the last couple of days and a bit of an upset stomach so losing mucus plug could just be a conincidence or maybe you are in labour! Call the MW if you are worried. Good luck - let us know xx

DeliberatelyGinger · 15/01/2019 22:36

My Due date the 27th so I'll be with you @ducklings (provided we both deliver around our due dates).

AvoidingMarking · 16/01/2019 00:05

Thanks all. Came home about 3 hours after being put on monitor. Dr wanted to check me over and baby was being a pain.
Glad I've been scanned and monitored as my pelvis is so sore I feel like he's about to fall out.

I've called in sick for tomorrow - the only time during the whole pregnancy or since April last year but I still feel guilty!

4 more weeks of work to go for me.

@sickmumma I didn't have stitches but I did have a 'graze'. You've just given me flashbacks of pouring a jug of water over myself as I was doing a wee to stop it stinging as much- a good tip from one of the nurses in SCBU with my first.

Yakadee · 16/01/2019 06:39

@chocpop - keep up posted and call in if you need to, hope you're OK.

Last day at work for me today 🎉🎉🎉

Slept a little better too so hoping I'll feel better for that x

powkin · 16/01/2019 08:04

@Yakadee - that sounds great! Last day AND better sleep! Are you doing anything nice for your last day?

I’ve woken up with a low grade cramping like really mild period pain. Not normal for me at all. I’m wondering if I overdid it swimming and my body is reacting or if things are really at the early stages of moving along. Think I’ll see how I feel this morning. They told me to have a low theshold for coming in as I’m at increased risk of preterm labour due to my EDS.

AliceRR · 16/01/2019 08:24

Oddly I’m finding that I feel like I’m sleeponf enough even though I must have to change position 8+ times on the night. I wake up and have to change sides due to aches and pains but I must go back to sleep fairly quickly (unlike me) as I feel like I’ve sort of slept through when I wake up

Makes me feel slightly optimistic about sleeping around baby feed times 🤔

AliceRR · 16/01/2019 08:34

Also do you all talk to the babies? My husband used to think I was mad talking to the baby but I’ve done it all along and now I think he’s used to it

Surprisedmom · 16/01/2019 08:39

@Powkin I hope you’re feeling ok and that the pain subsides.

@AliceRR I absolutely talk to the baby, but i think it’s quite a personal choice as some people feel odd doing it. The baby will know your voice anyway since they will hear it all the time through the day, but I do have a little chatter with him before bed each night and in the mornings (especially when he’s very active)

AliceRR · 16/01/2019 09:03

@Surprisedmom Seems completely natural to me to talk to her 😊🥰 - although I tend to do it at home rather than sitting at my desk at work! 😬😂

mummymummymummummum · 16/01/2019 09:26

@AliceRR I talk to mine too, occasionally at my desk without thinking! We tend to have long chats in the toilets at work. I've not been caught (yet)! Blush

AliceRR · 16/01/2019 09:31

@mummy I do that too!

mummymummymummummum · 16/01/2019 09:48

I've just managed to get a microwee into a sample tube with no mess! That's going to be top achievement for the day!

Seeing the consultant shortly to check all is still good for my VBAC. Just been scanned. I really don't want another caesarean, so please cross fingers for me!

UndercoverLauren · 16/01/2019 10:54

I try to talk to my baby but feel really silly doing it. My baby book says it's good for their brains and I'm worried I'm going to mess them up by not talking to them enough! I don't know how the baby knows whether I'm talking to them specifically though, I'm hoping them hearing my voice will be enough.

hayley013 · 16/01/2019 11:18

I dreamt last night that baby arrives on 2nd Feb, though I'm due 15th. Wanted to put it out there as if it miraculously comes true I'll be mind blown 😂😂 I woke at 4am today for an hour then managed to drop back off till 7, so I feel ok today but look so tired and exhausted, not sure what that's about!

halpert · 16/01/2019 11:28

How are you all managing to sleep Sad
It was so much easier the first time around when I could just nap whenever

My two year old doesn't like sleep apparently. I'm just begging for a nap

AliceRR · 16/01/2019 11:35

Just had an email that Boots baby event has started today for anyone interested

Eyedontknow · 16/01/2019 11:43

@AliceRR I think my husband talks more than I do to the bump! I do say hi when the baby is active and sometimes sing a little song.

@Halpert this is my first and I'm barely managing to sleep. I've been avoiding naps to help myself fall asleep at night, but still not sleeping at night so maybe I should just nap.

I'm 38 weeks so the end is near! I was up last night with pain low down that was accompanied by a Braxton Hicks, so possibly not Braxton Hicks??? However it stopped after about 5 of them.

Notquiteagandt · 16/01/2019 12:27

I talk to the baby.

But its more come on move from there. Get your foot out of there whilst moving or stroking her. I will appologise to her if I startle her which usually happens when im sick. Than full on conversations.

I think once she is here though poor child will get her ears chewed off with me talking to her.

I have been playing her music and have a bola ball pregnancy necklace. As I heard they can reconise sounds from womb and find them comforting. So 🤞

AliceRR · 16/01/2019 12:29

@Eyedontknow I think I was having Braxton Hicks last night and also have some pains, possibly stretching, low down. For a second I wondered if it could the the start of labour but thought unlikely as I haven’t really even had BH yet

Re sleeping some advice I heard was that it is good to try to nap because that’s what you’ll need to try to do when baby is here

I don’t nap often as I’m still working but I’ve found that if I have a sleep in the afternoon I can still sleep ok at night (and that never used to be the case!)

AvoidingMarking · 16/01/2019 13:51

@AliceRR I never had braxton hicks with my first. Not everyone gets them.

AliceRR · 16/01/2019 15:46

@AvoidingMarking That’s good to know. I thought it was odd I hadn’t really had them yet!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 16/01/2019 15:48

This is my third baby and I’ve never felt a BH contraction. I have had them as a midwife informed me I was having one at an appointment once... but I’ve never actually noticed one myself 🤷🏻‍♀️

AliceRR · 16/01/2019 15:52

@Notasgreen That might be what I’ve had in a way as I had experienced bump going hard for example but didn’t know what it was. Also MW said the pain lower down could be BH although feels more like stretching or think baby’s head is near there

Definitely felt some kind of contractions last night though.

Odd and yet amazing to think we could have baby anytime now really!

detachablehoof · 16/01/2019 15:56

I'm not sure if I'm having Braxton Hicks or not? Sometimes my bump feels really hard and uncomfortable, and I'm assuming that's what it is, but I don't exactly notice them start and stop?

@AliceRR I don't talk to my baby at all! Feel silly doing it! But my husband does - he's one of these people that has a special mushy baby voice whereas I just talk to them like adults haha

Been shopping today to try and get some bits for my hospital bag. Was planning to get PJs etc from Primark but they felt like such horrible quality I didn't get any. Got a dressing gown from M&S though, so that's a start! Was planning to take a carry on size wheely suitcase for my hospital bag but I'm not sure it will be big enough? So thinking maybe I'll take a holdall instead, plus nappy bag with baby's things in.

I got a couple of Ted Baker girls outfits from Debenhams which are adorable and came to £23 for them both. Worth checking them out if anyone else is keen on that stuff. Washes well apparently. And I have an adorable felt daffodil etsy headband which matches perfectly. If the baby is a boy I'm sure it will all make a nice present for someone!

Also got a babygro from JoJo Maman - never been to one of their shops before but was so impressed with their sleepsuits etc. So cute (but pretty pricey!). Can't WAIT to shop for baby clothes once the baby has actually arrived and I can look at the less neutral stuff!

Pram arrives tomorrow (about time too seeing as I'm 37+2) ... all starting to feel quite real, and my shopping list is shrinking!

detachablehoof · 16/01/2019 16:22

Oh and Morrisons has a baby event on too. I got a box of 12 packs of wipes super cheap and they had Pampers nappies on 3 for £12. So I got three packs of size 1. They also had good offers on some toiletries etc. Worth a look if you are a Morrisons shopper like me Smile
