Oh and Morrisons has a baby event on too. I got a box of 12 packs of wipes super cheap and they had Pampers nappies on 3 for £12. So I got three packs of size 1. They also had good offers on some toiletries etc. Worth a look if you are a Morrisons shopper like me Smile

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 16/01/2019 16:22

I never had BH last time but have now. I also talked to my bump the first time around but I found I did that in the evenings when I was sat down and chilled out.

This time, I don't get much of that sorting DD and various other things so haven't talked to it as much

Yakadee · 16/01/2019 17:15

I've never had a BH with either pregnancy. I don't think so at least?

Today I FINISHED WORK! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Putting my out of office on felt like the best thing ever!

Hope everyone is OK today x

I got a surprise baby shower on Sunday, thought it was a meal with my family and it turned out to be an exclusive event all for me and my baby. So many of my friends and family went, my sister planned it all. We got so much stuff - up until then I had next to nothing, now I have piles of clothes blankets even a fancy electric steriliser! My OH went and bought our cot and changing drawers too when I was at the shower, so came home to what was an empty room now a full on nursery. I cannot get over the generosity from everyone on Sunday. I even got nappies, wipes, all bathroom things that I’ll need. One of my friends even bought me miniature toiletries and wrote a note “for your hospital bag”, she knows how unorganised I am. I’ve gone from having nothing to needing nothing. I just need to find the energy to pack my hospital bag now.

Had pains and watery discharge over the last few days, so called triage this morning and they asked me to go in, I managed to get a sample of this clear liquid and the hospital don’t know what it is. It’s not urine and it isn’t amniotic fluid but it’s coming out all the time. They checked and confirmed I’m not in labour so just been told to rest and phone back if it’s gets worse. Anyone else had anything similar?

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 16/01/2019 19:24

I get watery discharge... it’s horrible, feels like everyone will see a damp patch!

A panty liner is sufficient though, and it’s an ‘every now and then’ thing, rather than constant.

There’s no smell or anything, and I think I remember it being s thing in previous pregnancies..? I now increased discharge is normal though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Alicejj8x · 16/01/2019 19:36

I am 34+6 weeks and today I’ve had a few longer Braxton Hicks ( not that this is unusual ) and just felt a lot of pressure down low. Her movements are very strong now and I feel uncomfy tonight..
Could this just be her moving down/ starting to engage? Or 😕

maxiflump1 · 16/01/2019 20:21

@Alicejj8x my movements have become very uncomfortable over the last week but I think it's because they are running out of room so every movement feels more violent! I'm also getting really strong braxton hicks that make me almost double over. The BH still feel quite high up in my case though although have started to feel pressure in my bum area when they happen.

I've been busy trying spinning babies exercises still no joy!

I think I'm getting a bit grumpy at work. My colleague keeps telling me and anyone about me that I should have finished with work weeks ago that she finished at 32 weeks that I needed rest etc etc.

I finish up next week, I don't moan and I don't slack in my job. It's really starting to grate on me now!

Yakadee · 16/01/2019 20:52

Yes to the painful movements! Baby is head down now (had a midwife appointment yesterday) but I'm not sure how low? Massive movements and a lot of lightening crotch! 😩

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/01/2019 20:58

Yes to painful movements! They've been like that for a good few weeks now. Funny as I felt this baby much less earlier on due to anterior placenta (compared with posterior with DS) but since about 27 odd weeks I swear I feel this one more now. I've not really had any worries whereas I did with DS (that was more my anxiety though) - I do wait for him to move when I wake up in the middle of the night though, before going back to sleep. Anyone else do this?

I've been having lots of BH but I did in my last pregnancy too, and from early on - pre 20 weeks.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 16/01/2019 21:27

I can’t remember who posted now... but with regards to getting a baby head down, there’s an acupressure point on the outside of your little toe, parallel to the base of the nail. This point corresponds to your uterus. Massaging this is meant to help turn baby. (My first baby was breech at 38 weeks... I tried everything to avoid an ECV!!). There are also moxi sticks that are also meant to aid with this (will need to google the spelling of that.. it’s been over a decade!!) I wouldn’t normally subscribe to this train of thought... but at the least, it doesn’t harm, and my baby did turn so... 🤷🏻‍♀️

I also spent time crawling on all fours, on knees and elbows (hips higher than shoulders) moving right arm with left leg and vice versa...

Who knows if either of those things did anything, or whether he’d have turned anyway!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 16/01/2019 21:30

Someone did post about this didn’t they?? Or have I made it up? 😂😂

AvoidingMarking · 16/01/2019 21:38

@Lookingforadvice123 I do that too! And in the mornings I don't get out of bed till I feel him. I'm so busy in the day that I don't really pay much attention to how regularly he moves so I like the reassurance when I'm led down.

twiglet · 16/01/2019 21:58

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking yes it was me but he is back to back and not breach (wouldn't put it past him though...)

I will give anything a go! Not sure if he is turning or not he currently feels like he has gone transverse but I struggle working out his position as he moves to the opposite side when you try to feel (does it with the midwife too.....)

Camsie30 · 16/01/2019 23:38

@twiglet same here, the midwife said last week that he's back to back... Have been on the ball going sideways all day at work, sitting on the edge of my chair/sofa, but of all fours. Have no idea which way round he is now but he feels traverse too... Not seeing the consultant until 1st Feb... Bit annoying as I want to know where he is!!!!

Yakadee · 17/01/2019 05:25

So apparently 3:30am is today's get up time for my son! Finally given up and got up. Feels wrong to be downstairs at 5am! (He was in my bed as has a bad cough)

Will be feeling very sorry for myself as the day goes on lol x

Yakadee · 17/01/2019 06:42

Also, keep hearing about this 'spritz for bitz' and wondering if it's worth it for a section scar / wound? Anyone used it? X

Since2016 · 17/01/2019 07:11

Wound needs to be kept dry and clean. I wouldn’t put anything else on it. If you end up with an overhang (I didn’t last time but it’s common) it can be challenging to keep dry. Some people recommend a pad over it.

Yakadee · 17/01/2019 08:04

@Since2016 - thanks. That's what I thought but I was looking on the website and it still seemed to recommend it (although I guess they would, would they!). I won't bother then x

Surprisedmom · 17/01/2019 08:23

@Yakadee I bought some cooling spray from the natural birthing company (boots and Holland and Barret sell it) as it’s much cheaper than spritz for bits so I figured i’d wasted less money if I didn’t use it. It’s currently on sale for £6.99 in Holland and Barret and seems to do the same thing.

AliceRR · 17/01/2019 10:11

Annoyingly DH just found out he doesn’t get full pay for his two weeks paternity leave. It makes sense really as I wouldnhave expected it to be the kind of place where you get basic pay for sickness and maternity etc but didn’t occur to either of us!

It’s not the end of the world but it’s another thing to factor in on top of things like the pram that I still need to pay for and free related to our house purchase that like surveyor fees and solicitor fees. It’s just not ideal but we think those two weeks at home together are more important than the money so we’ll manage

mummymummymummummum · 17/01/2019 10:20

@AliceRR Could he take one of the weeks as annual leave instead? I know that would eat into his annual entitlement, but would help financially.

My husband took a new job starting a couple of weeks ago. It was a bit spontaneous, and it turns out he isn't entitled to any paternity leave, and we're both having to come off the childcare vouchers and onto tax free childcare (which is not as good for us). He's a teacher, so no option of annual leave. They're kindly giving him a few days unpaid.

AliceRR · 17/01/2019 10:23

@mummy oh I didn’t realise he would have to have been somewhere a certain amount of them to be entitled to two weeks?! I thought everyone could take pat leave (albeit without pay perhaps)

Yes he could take annual leave and that’s what he was thinking as an option but with us moving house he also wants to be able to take time off then to decorate etc. We plan to move end of March unless we can push things through faster

Yakadee · 17/01/2019 10:33

My hubby is taking 3 weeks holiday as his paternity pay isn't great either x

Since2016 · 17/01/2019 10:41

You need to be somewhere a minimum length of time to be entitled to pat leave - my brother got stung with this too (also a teacher). Sadly my DH only gets two days full pay the rest stat, so he’s also taking annual leave for the rest of it. Happily his AL year runs calendar so we’ll manage in time for a new AL year to cover the myriad of illnesses that No 2 will no doubt catch once in nursery!!
