A list of those already on the bus. Welcome to newbies. It's the countdown to 12 week scans. I think I have nearly a month to wait though :-(

@calmercomber that's so exciting! Congrats! I'd be bricking it too- but you'll be fine!

Hortonlovesahoo · 15/01/2019 18:24

@CalmerComber: wow! What a shock!! I suspected I was having twins as my symptoms happened so early but it was just bad luck!

@queenoffox: I was really glad she took the time to do it. We've been told ours takes 14 days to process so they won't be rushing to give us the results.

ABearandABump · 15/01/2019 18:26

@CalmerComber ahh congrats! My mum is a twin and BD is a twin. I've had an early scan but looks as though there is just one!

Has anyone had their 12w scan date yet? I will be 13+3 at my scan, was hoping it would be sooner Blush.

Jokie · 15/01/2019 18:27

Also, just to not confuse anyone: ive changed my name from "hortonlovesahoo" to Jokie as the lady who had Horton was getting a little annoyed that she kept being tagged in posts so I thought it would be easier to change it and avoid any upset.

CalmerComber · 15/01/2019 18:44

Yes my family is full of twins but fraternal twins are the ones that are hereditary and I’m having identical! They’re monochorionic diamniotic which means 2 sacs but one placenta. They’re the “medium-high risk” type I was told...as though that’s supposed to calm me down!

So it will be two boys or two girls!

Spongeb0b · 15/01/2019 18:58

@CalmerComber massive congrats! Double trouble haha.

starryeyed13 · 15/01/2019 19:13

@OctoberGirl91 great that you have a scan lined up!

@CalmerComber that is so exciting! I always kinda wanted twins after watching Sister Sister as a teenager 😂 a friend of mine also has girl boy twins and they are the cutest!

Time seems to be really dragging until my 12 week scan! Keep thinking about nursery designs and baby clothes but don't want to jinx anything by looking too much yet, if that makes any sense?

Bakingabean · 15/01/2019 19:15

@abearandabump - mine is on Friday, as in 3 days time. I'll be 12+2. Terrified! Especially as my nausea is pretty much gone and so has most of my bloating (a relief but also making me worry). Arrrgh it's driving me nuts!

avacadooo · 15/01/2019 19:26

@starryeyed13 I've already Started planning my baby shower 😂 I read somewhere it helps to have something to plan when you feel crappy!

@CalmerComber omg you're going to have your hands full!

abw94 · 15/01/2019 19:39

@CalmerComber congratulations! How exciting two are on the way 😃😃

@starryeyed13 you're not alone at all! I have to stop myself buying anything as I want to wait until 12 weeks. Was looking at the Aldi baby event the other day and there were some beautiful stuff.

Does anyone else find time is dragging?!?

ss3ajb · 15/01/2019 19:51

@CalmerComber congratulations! That's amazing! Twins are so cute 😍

Had booking in appointment all seemed to go well although will be consultant led apparently due to BMI being higher than should be but that's ok midwife was really lovely my stingey veins would not give up any blood so have to get those done again this week but did get my hands on the magic yellow file which felt exciting hopefully will get my scan through for next 2-3 weeks eek feeling a bit more real

Still exhausted 24/7 am hoping it wears off soon finding the energy for work is really tough going st the moment am a zombie by the evening 😂

Kcjoe · 15/01/2019 19:52

Wow congratulations @CalmerComber! 😁

I forgot to mention to the others on my last post that I was given Ciclizine anti sickness tablets on Saturday by my gp. They worked wonders within 24 hours however sickness returned today 🤢 I think it's because I'm so tired. I called in sick today and I've pretty much been in bed all day sleeping. Think it was the stress of yesterday and hospital.

Is anyone else on Ciclizine? The leaflet says to avoid in pregnancy unless advised. I'm a little worried about taking them 😕

UnicornDust17 · 15/01/2019 19:52

Me @abw94 I'm 12 weeks (hopefully) on Saturday, and it feels like it had taken forever. Scan on Tuesday

emma1224 · 15/01/2019 19:53

@CalmerComber CONGRATS!!!!! Double the amount of love is amazing

I was sure I was having two with how Ill I've been but early scan showed one
Fingers crossed one was hiding lol

Jokie · 15/01/2019 19:54

@kcjoe: its one of the most common prescribed drugs for morning sickness. I would have had it but I'm intolerant to some of the ingredients and it reacted badly!

There's a good thread on here about HG/extreme sickness that's a wealth of knowledge. It might be worth trying to find it?

starryeyed13 · 15/01/2019 19:56

@avacadooo haha love it! I planned my own wedding and several hen dos in the past couple of years so the thought of planning something else is fun!

@abw94 so with you on time dragging! I saw some Aldi stuff too and admit I did buy a Gina Ford book Wink

avacadooo · 15/01/2019 20:04

@Kcjoe I was on cyclizine for a few weeks, did nothing for me now I'm on stetmil which is a even worse cause I keep choking on them and the dissolve as you're trying to swallow them so it's unpleasant.

@starryeyed13 I got married last year so I'm glad I've got something to plan again 😂

ABearandABump · 15/01/2019 20:13

@abw94 yes! Feels like it's going so slow but then I can't believe we're already mid-jan!

@Bakingabean I might book an early reassurance scan. I'm becoming obsessed.

X

QueenofFox · 15/01/2019 20:26

Identical twins! Even better! I thought I was having them too, but was relieved to see a singleton- can't really afford this one let alone two more.(we have two already).

It's going to be so special seeing them together. I think LLL have special advisors for bf twins. What an exciting journey to be on!

Time is crawling by so slowly. Unbearable.

ScotsBaby2 · 15/01/2019 20:38

CalmerComber that so exciting. Twins will be hard work but AMAZING! Has it sunk in yet?

@kcjoe I am in the same boat, having been prescribed cyclizine. Its the recommended treatment for morning sickness in the UK under NICE guidelines (medical gold standard) so try not to worry about it being harmful. For me, I get so poorly during pregnancy that the way I see it I am putting my baby at more risk by not eating, not drinking, and having ketones in my urine and tearing my oesophagus through vomiting like I did in my previous pregnancies. With my second, I was so weak from vomiting by the time I gave birth (yep it never subsided) I don't know how I found the strength to go through labour. This time, I'm taking the anti sickness drugs. I cannot put myself or my family through that again.

The trouble I have found people have with cyclizine is that it either doesn't work - or like you have found - starts to work then wears off. The other thing is that it completely knocks me out. Dr said to try just taking it at night then gradually Increasing it to twice a day until body gets used to it. There's more effective stuff out there apparently but as it's expensive GPs are reluctant to prescribe and as I say are meant to prescribe this in the first instance anyway. But apparently if cyclizine isn't for you, it IS worth trying others. The aforementioned hyperemisis support thread on here is brilliant.

Cobblestones · 15/01/2019 20:52

Congrats @calmercomber! That’s fantastic! So exciting x

abw94 · 15/01/2019 21:04

@UnicornDust17 good luck with your scan, hope it goes well x

Curlywurlywoo · 15/01/2019 23:08

So sorry to hear of the miscarriages 😢

@ABearandABump I am 12+1 and phoned the hospital this morning to chase up appointment, they’re still processing my papers 😮 they’ve only got 12 days left in which to do my screenings!

@CalmerComber that’s amazing, congratulations! I always think twins would be so interesting (and a lot of work but worth it) however there’s absolutely no twins in my or my husbands family so highly unlikely it will happen 😂

Jokie · 16/01/2019 06:18

@Curlywurlywoo: hope that you get some news soon for your appointment!

For those struggling with sickness or taking pills orally, my doctor's gave me suppositories to help with absorption. They're not pleasant to put in but they did work a little (until I had massive side effects).
