Part 3 already!

A list of those already on the bus. Welcome to newbies. It's the countdown to 12 week scans. I think I have nearly a month to wait though :-(

@1Bobbinwinder she is 13 months. She sometimes does 1 nap but most of the time it's 2. She had her first one at 9.30am so I, I mean she, needed an afternoon one too.

I feel for you. Only getting one nap in a day is brutal.

@milly2000 it might be worth going up a size that you can also wear once baby is here. If you are planning on breastfeeding then there are lots of maternity and nursing tops/dresses that are a good shout. I didn't mind having a mum tum after baby was here which was good as some of the nursing dresses have a tight band under boobs so show off mum tum.

Hope everyone's nausea and sickness leaves soon.

I've just finished off the rejects from the Christmas Celebrations tub. My gluttony knows no limits this evening.

RaindropsRoses · 12/01/2019 20:06

Haha made mw laugh. I am SO bloated this time round and a bottomless pit for crisps, toast and chips. I put on over a stone with ds in first trimester and looks like this is going the same way! It did even out by the end though.

Ohhh I cannot wait for the return of maternity jeans and leggings. Comfiest things EVER

avacadooo · 12/01/2019 20:10

@milly2000 I bit the bullet and bought some stuff in the boohoo sale, couple of dresses, leggings and skirts since I'm so bloated I can't wear my normal clothes💔

@ScotsBaby2 a chippy sounds like a plan, chips and loads of brown sauce 🤤

mrsof20118 · 12/01/2019 20:17

@milly2000 usually a size 6 too but picked up some next maternity jeggings frim 10 +4. They are under the bump ones but so much more comfy by the end of the day as prevous skinnies were feeling tight around the middle.

Curlywurlywoo · 12/01/2019 20:21

@Hortonlovesahoo I’m due August 2nd and attempting to join in here too but think our posts have got missed Grin this is my first pregnancy and I’ve yet to have my dating scan as I left it a bit later to get booking appointment etc (well I did try before Christmas but they forgot to put me through!) we aren’t telling anyone until about 4 months I think. It sounds silly but I have zero nausea and even though my midwife says it’s normal I won’t feel happy til I’ve seen my scan and know that everything’s as it should be! I don’t have any reason to be concerned other than lack of “typical” symptoms I’ve no cravings or aversions and no nausea. Just sore boobs and crazy chest acne and having an empty growling stomach every two hours or soShock

Hortonlovesahoo · 12/01/2019 20:32

@curlywurlywoo: thanks for the welcome! I've only been done so early because I'm with the hospital so it's all a little more planned and sorted.

The acne is something I'm struggling with too. Have you found anything that helps?

@milly2000: I'd recommend maternity jeans but it'll depend on your shape and size. With my first pregnancy, I was all bump and nothing in my legs so could get away with regular jeans. This time, it's all on my butt.

ScotsBaby2 · 12/01/2019 20:50

Welcome @Curlywurlywoo and @Hortonlovesahoo I have added you to the list. Congratulations and welcome to the fastest moving threads ever!!

Curlywurlywoo · 12/01/2019 21:26

@Hortonlovesahoo well I was using diluted tea tree oil and then I read that it shouldn’t be used in pregnancy (plus it wasn’t helping much) so I’m now trying simple sugar scrub to get rid of build up in the shower followed by using an apple cider vinegar and water toner. if that doesn’t sort it out in a few days I might try witch hazel, before getting pregnant I found salicylic acid products were fab on my skin but I’ve read mixed opinions on the safety of it in pregnancy so I’ve just avoided it! It’s so frustrating isn’t it! I am restricted with what I can wear as I am always covering the spots up, I just hope it clears up before warmer weather!
@milly2000 I’ve been in a maternity bra since 4 weeks (couldn’t stand underwires and my boobs grew a cup size right away) and I’ve abandoned my usual skinny jeans in favour of non maternity leggings from George for now. I’ve not gained on the scales but my jeans were uncomfortably tight especially after eating!
@ScotsBaby2 thank you Grin it’s so nice having a group of ladies I can talk to and hear all about your experiences! None of my friends have had babies nor ttc yet (nor do they know about this bean!)

Chocolate89 · 13/01/2019 00:05

@millie2000 im a size 6 too, and my high waisted jeans are def getting tight! Apparently the jeans from h&m maternity are supposed to be good! Also I picked up a good few bits on the asos sale the other day!

We are telling my dd who is 10 that i am pregnant tomorrow! Was planning to do it 2 weeks later than now at 13/14 weeks but she has almost found out twice this week! I am 11 weeks and had a really good scan on thursday so hoping its safe! We are going round to my parents and i have had a big balloon made with a stork and big sister on it. It comes in this gorgeous box so I am hoping she opens it, the balloon floats out and I've put a pic of the scan in the bottom 🤗 I can't wait, she is desperate for a sibling!

RaindropsRoses · 13/01/2019 06:41

Welcome! Sorry, this thread moves so fast a few of my questions have gone unanswered too but please dont take it to heart!

Chocolate89 thats so cute! How exciting for her.

Curlywurlywoo I'm still using salicylic acid as I read it's fine topically in small amounts. My skin is always bad anyway and don't want it getting any worse.

I honestly cannot wait for maternity comfies. I feel a shopping spree coming in next few weeks!

ss3ajb it is very overwhelming but dont go too mad yet and you will probably get gifted a lot when baby is here too! We had so much in 0-3 that there was stuff ds never even wore or just once.

Has anyone thought whether they will be finding out the sex later on? We did with ds but am undecided this time. I think I would like to keep it a surprise but practically we have so many clothes I could sort through and possibly get rid of if we won't use it to make some space. The first few months last time were an absolute blur so I cant imagine having time to sort it after babe is here!

QuackersMooo · 13/01/2019 07:41

Raindrops I will as dp doesn't like surprises Hmm and ds will want to know we won't be telling him till we know what baby is otherwise he will ask everyday and it will feel like a much longer wait.
If I had my way I wouldn't find out.

ScotsBaby2 · 13/01/2019 07:50

@RaindropsRoses we won't be finding out. I hated all the "but you know, just tell us" last time however I love that there were a few hours where only us knew. I also LOVE babies in white. Most of DDs first outfits were gender neutral so I'm not too worried.

I do love a surprise.

OP posts:
UnicornDust17 · 13/01/2019 08:02

We'll find out because I prefer to be prepared and I've got such a lot of stuff from DS1 I can start sorting it out if it's not needed.

We've had such trouble with babies/pregnancy everyone knows better than to keep asking

Ninunina · 13/01/2019 08:04

@Curlywurlywoo should I stop using tea tree oil? My moisturizer is a mix of coconut oil, rose hip oil and I add a few drops of tea tree to it. Should I stop? Is lavender ok?

UnicornDust17 · 13/01/2019 08:10

@milly2000 yes I've dug out my a couple of pairs maternity trousers from DS1 and after my scan at the end of December, bought a couple of pairs of maternity jeans from ebay..

Ive also been using bump bands over my usual jeans and I haven't been able to do them up for a while. Mine are from new look and I used them with DS1 too.

Curlywurlywoo · 13/01/2019 08:14

@RaindropsRoses that’s good to know..perhaps I’ll try something weaker! The spots are driving me crazy Confused Husband and I have decided not to find out, and have a surprise however someone told us the other day they didn’t want to know either but it was so obvious on the 20 week scan it was a boy Grin that made me laugh! I’ve had three dreams now that I’ve got a little baby girl and she looks the same in every dream...I’ve got a while to wait to see if they’re accurate!
@Ninunina I honestly don’t know, thing is there’s articles online that say it’s safe diluted and then others who just say to avoid! I think if you’re happy using it then carry on, I may well go back to using it diluted. I’ve always used tea tree on my skin before being pregnant and not always dilute either (applied it neat in a tiny dot on particularly bad spots!) x

UnicornDust17 · 13/01/2019 08:39

@Bakingabean blood test was all fine thanks, she had trouble finding my veins so had to get a midwife to come and so it. I hate having blood taken so think I made her nervous Confused

Moncwf · 13/01/2019 08:44

Welcome new people! It does move very fast here!

@Cobblestones nothing much, just broke my leg a while back, now pelvis is a bit wonky! Causes me back/hip/knee issues and pretty sure it exacerbates the stretching pains, mine feel like the ligament that joins your hip to the body, and is always worse after driving. I had mild SPD last time, worried it's going to be worse this time.

@Curlywurlywoo apparently it was very obvious to sonographer and DH last time but I couldn't tell what I was looking at! I'm very short sighted though.

We will definitely find out the sex. No preference either way and I'm not really bothered about 'preparing' just nosey. I'd find out hair colour, birth weight and personality if I could.

Re: maternity clothes, I'm trying to leave it until after 12 weeks. Only 7-8 at the moment and quite bloated, but luckily lost quite a bit of weight over summer so have plenty of roomy clothes. I did bid on a beautiful Isabella Oliver maternity work dress on eBay but didn't win. Probably for the best. I will get my old bits out of the loft after my scan and see what I need. DS was November born so I may need more warm weather maternity stuff.

Whoopsies · 13/01/2019 08:46

Welcome to the new ladies!
We will be finding out the sex, I'm just too impatient to know, and it will be nice for ds.
I can't wait to tell ds now, just because it's getting harder to hide! He's 5 so we have to be so careful around him. Will tell him after the next scan!

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/01/2019 09:05

Morning all

Not been on here much this week as been back at work and floored with tiredness

7+2 now, booking in with mw on Tue, hopefully get a scan soon. Feel like i am going to get very big very soon (fifth baby). Don't want to tell anyone e.g. other dc, work etc until had a scan and seen all is well. So fingers crossed i get a scan before anyone realises.

We will find out the sex, i have no patience. Also i have some clothes left from dc4 (boy) and if this baby is a girl then i can get rid of most of that.

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/01/2019 09:07

Oh and i haven't been sick yet, felt nauseous briefly a few times but thats all. Sore boobs though and face caked in spots. Also heartburn has started.

pixietheginger · 13/01/2019 09:37

@RaindropsRoses I'm using salicylic as well, but only tiny amount directly on the spots...i usually get spots on chin and cheeks but this time it's all over the harline, how weird!

I want to find out the sex, as i think it's more practical (plus I'm too impatient to wait!) but DH is still thinking about it...

Hortonlovesahoo · 13/01/2019 10:01

Morning Ladies!

@raindropsroses: we'll be finding out. I've considered the harmony test to find out at 12 weeks as I'm very impatient blush.

@chocolate89: I can highly recommend H&M maternity wear. It's super comfortable and very durable. I lived in a pair of maternity jeans for most of my pregnancy and initially postpartum.

We are not telling anyone officially until we've had the results of the 12 week tests. I've had to tell my parents as I was so sick over Christmas, I couldn't avoid it (and they were worried they had given me food poisoning!).
