another suprise baby here. although its getting hard as in my pregnancy friend group im the only one not finding out!

i have a shortlist of names also as does DH. He loves a certain name for a boy but im just not sold on it at all as much as i have tried.

saying that until we meet baby im not deciding on a name incase they dont look like said name if you get me

Giraffe888 · 23/01/2019 09:32

@chinks123 great to hear that things are better with DP. Where did you buy rib dresses from? I’ve looked but had no luck x

Chinks123 · 23/01/2019 09:41

@Giraffe888 Topshop have some nice ones but they’re a bit pricey. I ordered one off Everything5pounds, it came and it’s from top shop!

Trying2bemum · 23/01/2019 09:49

Thanks @twistering - we had counselling together when we were going through IVF, so I think we will go back to her. I find it tough though, feel like I'm psyching myselfl up!

@chinks123 really glad to hear that, sounds like he is coming round xx

Bought some maternity leggings from H&M and pretty happy with them - think they were only £8. Went back to yoga last night too! So good.

Chinks123 · 23/01/2019 10:14

I really hope you manage to get it sorted @Trying2bemum. I had to really psych myself up just to have “the chat” and prepared myself for the worst. It should be such a happy time it’s awful not to be able to fully enjoy it with your partner.

I’m going shopping today, currently wearing mothercare maternity under the bump jeans.

StargazyDrifter · 23/01/2019 10:38

Chinks glad to hear and ❤️ the decaf teabags gesture.

I've not bought anything for the baby yet, we'll start after the 20 week scan, I think. So sick again today that I've taken the day off. Never seems to end.

Kentishgal · 23/01/2019 11:36

That's rotten Stargazydrifter to still be feeling sick. I recommend the travel sickness bands albeit they took a couple of days to kick in.

Is it time for a new thread soon?

Chinks123 · 23/01/2019 11:37

Does anyone think the decaf teabags taste the same as normal tea? I tried one and it was horrible.. I’ve cut down to 1 cup a day normally anyway so it’s not really a problem. It’s the tetley ones he’s bought.

Chinks123 · 23/01/2019 11:38

Ooh @Kentishgal yes it will be, we’re on page 39.
Thankyou @StargazyDrifter

cathyj87 · 23/01/2019 11:40

@Chinks123 I'm usually a Tetley girl but found the decaf rotten! Try Thompson's decaf if you can get it, I found it more paletable though still don't really drink it, just limit myself to 2 normal mugs a day

RooKangaroo · 23/01/2019 11:42

@Chinks123, I'm so pleased he's talking about it a bit now! That sounds like huge progress, and it's lovely that you say you're starting to relax and enjoy it now. Hopefully he's able to work on his illness over the next few months.

@Trying2bemum, oh that's frustrating, I'm sorry. You must feel like you're on eggshells and not able to mention this massive thing that's happening to you :( If you had a good counsellor last time, it definitely sounds like an idea to try her again (even if he refuses and it's just for you). You need support at this time. Sending hugs x

Trying2bemum · 23/01/2019 11:49

@chinks123 I don't hold back from telling him how I feel! I think I go too far though and get very emotional and angry and he just retreats more. We do really need to go back to the counsellor - but I'm going to have to stomach her telling me to communicate better and I think I will just want to scream try being pregnant and married to my husband and then see if you stay calm!

I drink fancy Clipper decaf tea and have got used to it now. Doesn't taste quite the same but I like it.

Thanks @rookangaroo it is pretty shit, I really hope he sorts his head out and can enjoy at least some of the pregnancy. My friend is currently 28 weeks and says her partner leans his head on her bump and talks to baby - I cannot imagine Matt doing this! Ugh.

BirthdayKake · 23/01/2019 12:28

Still nauseous here too.

Sorry to hear there's still a couple of men still not being great. Hope things get sorted soon xxx

Capybaras · 23/01/2019 12:45

That must be such a relief @BeckyButterfly - hope you feel better soon!

Trouble2cats · 23/01/2019 13:05

It's heartbreaking reading about men struggling themselves rather than supporting you lovely ladies. I hope that they do find a solution soon.

BeckyButterfly · 23/01/2019 13:11

I’m still feeling sick all the time! I have been sick today for the first time in over a week so that’s not too bad.

Thanks @Capybaras, I’m hoping it clears up soon.

ememem84 · 23/01/2019 13:41

Decaf tea is rank. That’s my opinion.

I am an earl grey drinker and did find out that it has less caffeine than “normal” tea. I think I worked out that I can have 3 cups a day and still be within the limit. Am down to two though. One at breakfast. One mid morning and a camomile in the afternoon.

What are people’s thoughts about reuseable nappies?

Capybaras · 23/01/2019 14:16

@ememem84 I really want to use reusable nappies but everyone I know is trying to put me off them saying it's such hard work etc etc compared to disposable! But from what I've read there are some great ones available now so I'm undecided. Definitely want to get the reusable wipes so maybe will start with them and see how it goes!
There was a good thread on the pregnancy topic a few months ago about reusable nappies with some great recommendations. May be worth a read!

thedust · 23/01/2019 14:33

@ememem84 I've bought a load of the Bambino MIO ones Aldi had in last week, 12 I think. They seem to have good reviews so I'm going to give them a try. Not just for the environmental impact but also so our bin doesn't get full of nappies now we only have fortnightly collections! I will probably use the odd disposable like in hospital and when we're out and about maybe but these seem really easy to use with poppers and Velcro. It's a lot of money up front but it should work out cheaper in the long run than having to buy nappies with every food shop.

RooKangaroo · 23/01/2019 14:56

I'd also really like to use real/cloth nappies this time round. I didn't with DD with I only realised it was a 'thing' right before she was born and I looked into it but was massively put off by the cost investment. We'd spent everything we'd budgeted for baby things and the outlay of a couple of hundred pounds (you need quite a few as you can't have a wash on every few hours for them) was too much.

I kept meaning to get onto them but I just never happened. Plus my DH was really against it.

I've learned a lot more now, and I really want to do it for this baby. 'Real Nappy Week' will be around April/springtime, and it seems to be a time when loads of people try to sell and buy second-hand nappies online (FB groups, etc.). My plan is to use that week to do lots of searching stock up to at least 20 nappies (lots of people seem to sell bundles, which makes it easier). I don't really want to pay to buy them new, given how much they are.

Thanks both. Will check the threads out. Funnily enough a friend had recommended bambinomio.

I’m tempted to go for it. Maybe just at home at first and still buy disposables for out and about. But I see how many disposables we’ve used for ds and am 😱😮 at the cost and the waste.

Have actually just seen some on eBay so have put a bid on.
