@cravingmilkshake think it depends on your trust as to whether you book it or they arrange for you. Mine you have to book all your appts yourself but I only found that out by chance!

Toria73 · 22/01/2019 08:46

Thank you. I’ll just give a sample when I’m there as apart from Jam jar or travel mug I don’t think I have anything suitable to use.

Jxtina86 · 22/01/2019 11:34

Just got back from 16 week appt - all very straightforward. They gave me a pot for the urine sample when I signed in (Although how I'm going to piss into that when bump is bigger is anyone's guess 😂😂) checked blood pressure and then got to hear the heartbeat again which was lovely- she even pointed out the change in noise when baby moved. Also got some advice on my hip pain- it's eased up as I started doing some stretches in the evening before bed but checked if there was anything else to do. She thinks because of the position it's more sciatica than PGP but to keep an eye on it, do the stretches, don't sit or stand for too long and keep an eye on my posture.

Kentishgal · 22/01/2019 11:41

Hope the appointments go well. I've just been to the gp as this cough is driving me insane. He just said it's bronchitis and has given me some antibiotics - he said they're safe and the risks and of not taking them and developing pneumonia or something is far greater than any risk of taking them. But it still makes me feel nervous and guilty - have been taking probiotic tablets the whole time so will carry on with those (I always end up with tonsilitis when I take antibiotics so want to try and prevent that). Urghh.

Jxtina86 · 22/01/2019 11:48

@Kentishgal hope the antibiotics work their magic and the bronchitis clears up soon. I had to take medication for something when I was in the first few weeks of pregnancy and remember feeling a bit worried about it but was told the risk was minimal and that it was important for me to get better especially as I was on a course of medication and suddenly stopping it would aggravate the condition further.

HchyScott · 22/01/2019 11:56

@Jxtina86 glad to hear your appointment went well 😁 I’ve got mine at 3, have a list of questions for her and I’ve had a massive gland come up on my neck by my jaw and ear over night, so weird!
Did you have a blood test? Praying I don’t have to have one 🤞🏼
I think I might have felt baby a couple of times but I’m just not sure so I hope I get to hear the heartbeat today.

Kentishgal · 22/01/2019 11:58

Thank you Jxtina86 - I just wish the "minimal risk" was "no risk". Everything is a worry isn't it? Fingers crossed! Glad to hear the midwife appointment went well!

StargazyDrifter · 22/01/2019 11:59

Kentishgal sorry to hear about the bronchitis, but definitely better to get it sorted now so something more serious doesn't interfere with your little co-resident down the line. 😊 Here's to a speedy recovery!

I'm exhausted today. After a long weekend too. It feels like a long 5 months ahead.

Jxtina86 · 22/01/2019 12:12

@HchyScott no I didn't have a blood test. Was told no more blood until around 28 weeks, although midwife said that as I've got to have the gestational diabetes bloods done (The joy of having type 2 diabetic parents!) around that time, combine with my 28 week bloods so I don't have to go separately. More bloods at 34 weeks I think too.

Also got an idea for next lot of appts - 25, 28, 31, 34 and then every 2 weeks till birth. Not sure if that's the same for everyone but know there were questions further up the thread so thought I'd just add that for anyone not sure! Worth checking though!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 22/01/2019 12:27

I'm 16 weeks today. And have an appointment with my midwife on Thursday.

Would love to know when everyone's due date is now? I'm due 9th July

ReginaPhalange89 · 22/01/2019 12:29

I was told to take a urine sample to pretty much every appt. Ever time I go along for an appt they give me a pot for the next one ! Saying that I don't know what I've done with the one they gave me 🙈

Getting quite impatient now for a gender scan 😬 14+1 today by scan dates so technically could have one in two weeks time but can't decide if I should wait an extra week since my original due date based on LMP is a week behind 🤔

Jxtina86 · 22/01/2019 12:35

@ReginaPhalange89 I think it depends on the trust. One friend had similar to me, just do it at the appt but I know another friend had to bring it with her. Wish it was consistent though so we all knew where we stood!

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts snap, I'm 9th July too!

Yukka · 22/01/2019 12:40

@toria73 fanny daggers is hugely appropriate! I literally had to put my hands on my crotch it was so sharp! Didn’t last long thankfully.

Is anyone else on here NOT finding out gender? I’m all in for the surprise!

wombatron · 22/01/2019 12:49

@Yukka I'll see your fanny daggers and raise you javelin arse!

I have to pee at all my appointments I think, but I'm instructed to make it en-route and pee when I get there. They give me the pot on the day.

My cold is absolutely rotten. It massively sucks!

ReginaPhalange89 · 22/01/2019 12:50

@yukka I didn't find out the sex with my first baby, the surprise was amazing! But found out with the second , and will with this one . I'm too impatient, too much pressure on it to be a boy, and want to be organised lol

ReginaPhalange89 · 22/01/2019 12:51

Also I think peeing when you're there is a bit annoying , what if you don't have to pee ? Lol. I like taking mine with me cos it means I don't have to make sure i have a full bladder on the way, especially if they're running late and your bursting ! Lol

Jxtina86 · 22/01/2019 12:57

@Yukka we're not finding out the sex either - quite like the anticipation but understand why people do find out to help prepare, choose names etc. Speaking of, anyone thought of names? We have a shortlist for both already although one is longer than the other!

Capybaras · 22/01/2019 13:08

I'm the 9th July too @Jxtina86 @ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts

We've got some names we've been throwing around but will wait until we find out the sex before properly discussing. My DH has some names which I'm a bit Hmmso hoping they can be vetoed quickly!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 22/01/2019 13:30

Ahhh that's lovely Grin @Jxtina86 @Capybaras.

I can't wait to find out what we are having. Really want to start narrowing names down. It's such a big decision to make

FuzzyPixel · 22/01/2019 13:35

Ahh, I don't know if we will find out or not. I was fully on team surprise and for my husband to find out first but I've also said to him that he can have a private sex scan and find out early if he'd like to, but I'd still like him to know before me.

We have a shortlist of names; 3 girls names and 3 boys names. Four of the names have been on our shortlist since we first started trying years ago.

I'm shattered. I could just nap constantly. 14+4 today. DH ordered some books yestersay ready to read to the bump at 16 weeks so he/she can learn his voice.

Jxtina86 · 22/01/2019 13:36

I don't think we'll get down to one name for boy or girl, we'll have our top 3 for each and then see what suits. Luckily DH and I have similar tastes and as long as they go with our chosen middle names (both of us have middle names that have been passed down to eldest boy or girl) we're both quite open. My cousin went a few weeks with each of their kids without a name to see what worked- hopefully we won't take that long to decide after the birth!

HchyScott · 22/01/2019 13:55

We’ve decided on Macie for a girl and Fletcher for a boy. It could all change when we find out the sex in 3 weeks but I think we are pretty much set. I did have a wobble and like Freddie for a boy for a while but husband is not having any of it hahaha.

ReginaPhalange89 · 22/01/2019 14:00

@HchyScott Fletcher is the front runner on our boys list just now too !

We haven't thought too much about names yet, probably wait til we know the sex. There aren't many boys names I like at all. Girls names are so much easier. Last pregnancy I had my heart set on my girls name for years before so we didn't even think about it , this time feels like it's going to be difficult lol .

Girls names I really like are Kate, Emma & Zoe . I don't like anything too unusual or any wierd spellings!

TwinkleDay · 22/01/2019 15:06

Surprise baby over hear too... name wise we are doing separate research and not inflicting each other until we sit down with our ideas lol... there is also a thing to be sure off with names that won't be able to be used- surnames Day! So cant have holly, Wayney, May, ester, june, April, sunny ....nick names Fred but can't have a fred-daaay lol 😂

Kentishgal · 22/01/2019 15:32

No I like to prepare! With my daughter we only ever had a girls name and decided on that from the first week we knew I was pregnant. This time it's the reverse, we have had a boys name from the moment the test was positive - but still no girls name!! So on that basis I think it must be a boy!

Thank you Stargazydrifter - my work laptop has just died and I left the charging cable in the office so I'm putting my feet up and having a cup of (decaf) tea...the doctor did say to rest and drink lots!
