I'm in Cornwall so doubt anyone around here, that's partly why I want to do NCT so we can meet some friends. We moved here from London nearly 2 years ago and only really have our work colleagues. Will be nice to have some other friends and for Baby to have some baby friends aswell.

ReginaPhalange89 · 31/12/2018 18:26

Anyone else with a toddler who's going to be getting a double buggy ? I was hoping we could avoid it but think we're going to need one 🙈

HchyScott · 31/12/2018 18:45

@Michelle0507 I might get some actually although it’s when they miss the vein that hurts so much. I’ve got tiny veins too, family trait, my sister once had to have it taken out of her foot! The amount of nurses that say “ohh I’ll remember your name, you’re a difficult one” I just prep now by drinking loads of water, making sure I’m hot and tell them to put the tourniquet on as tight as they can!!

Jxtina86 · 31/12/2018 18:48

I'm in Sutton/Croydon area - we have no family or even friends that close by so that's another reason for us doing NCT (plus got no clue what we're doing as not exactly maternal so want all the info I can get!)

Happy New Year to you all - got my alcohol free sparkling wine chilling already... but doubt I'll make it to midnight!

FuzzyPixel · 31/12/2018 18:52

Love new thread time!

@TheScaredyKat - in relation to dog training, I'm jure there are some excellent videos around that will explain it more coherently than I would! As I'm working with mine, I'll dig them out and send you them in a PM if that's okay?

@Jammyx - Welcome! I'm also due 20th July. Smile This is my first, and my DH & I have been trying for a long time so I'm naturally very apprehensive. I'm hoping I'll relax a lot after the 12 week scan! Nice to have you on the board.

In relation to the food stuff from the last board, I am veggie (mostly vegan) and don't drink, so I haven't had to worry about cheese or pink meat really.

@BirthdayKake, in terms of location, without outing myself, I'm not far from you! I'll be having my baby at DPOW hospital...

MakeAWhish · 31/12/2018 18:54

Place marking - congrats on the scan @Michelle0507 !
I am also feeling massive, but I'm a bit of a porker anyway so just feel even fatter. Can't wait to let it hang out 😜

FuzzyPixel · 31/12/2018 18:56

Oh! In terms of needle phobia, I used to be, but after a round of IVF you get used to it. I have 'bouncy skin' and 'bouncy veins', which means most of the time bloods are taken from my hand which I actually prefer.

AllIWantIsToSleepAndEat · 31/12/2018 19:03

Happy new year everyoneXmas Wink
Can't believe that I missed July 2019 threads!
My EDD is 26/7 but will probably get this little one out by 12/7 latest dt being high risk --bla bla bla-- Hmm
Knocked out by HG and my greatest achievement would be not to vomit at midnight GrinGrin
I'm up here in NW, anyone around ?

Onestep2 · 31/12/2018 19:04

@birthdaykake aw it will be chaos and we will be using all of our savings but suppose that's what their for.

I can feel my bump popping when I lie down, but then I stand up and just look like I've had a good feeding over the festive season! I'm another one who is a tiny tot, I'm only 5'1 and am nice n curvy (I'm festivly plump) hahahahaha

wombatron · 31/12/2018 19:31

I am long of torso and 5ft 5 so I think it will take a while for mine to pop if I'm honest - at the moment I'm generally carrying extra weight and could have done with losing a stone before I found out. I'm starting to feel more normal so am aiming to be back on the meat and veg rather than burgers and chips type meals this first trimester has forced upon me. Sod steak, I want a burger from the burger can.

Wishing us all a happy new year. I will be in bed by 10.30 but that's nothing new on NYE Grin

TwinkleDay · 31/12/2018 19:39

@BirthdayKake yes I'm Lincs south of lincoln about half an hour away.

wombatron · 31/12/2018 19:47

Oh I am London. I know there's 2 others London based only. I wasn't sure about joining NCT or other things - but I'm a bit of a loner with no family and friends nearby so think it could possibly be a good idea... or if I'm better off doing a more local baby group when L.O is here. Thoughts?

BirthdayKake · 31/12/2018 19:53

Ooh hi Twinkle! I miss Lincoln :( we live about 50 mins away now, but were closer last year

ReginaPhalange89 · 31/12/2018 19:53

I'm passing this off as a bump but I think it's 99% Christmas binging 🙈😂 too much chocolate , biscuits and crisps ! Going to start my health kick now it's the new year (well after tonight haha) .

Ringing in the New Year & 2nd trimester - July 2019!
BirthdayKake · 31/12/2018 20:16

Regina it's gorgeous and doesn't look like a food binge at all!

wombatron · 31/12/2018 20:26

@ReginaPhalange89 yours is def a baby!!! Mine is just pudding and pies and all things nice!

mrsof20118 · 31/12/2018 20:28

@BirthdayKake in between Notts and Lincoln so not too far x

Michelle0507 · 31/12/2018 20:32

There must be something in the sea air in Linc.
Linc was part of our Derbyshire area at work until we lost the tender a few months ago!

mrsof20118 · 31/12/2018 20:34

@TwinkleDay sounds very close to my home town!

TwinkleDay · 31/12/2018 20:37

There's quite a few classes NCT around Nottingham I have just registered for one.

Has anybody done these before .. or are we best off just using the free ones ? I'm sure they haven't been found for ages but I have never held a baby for more than 10 mins and neither has OH

TheScaredyKat · 31/12/2018 20:44

Ooh yes please @FuzzyPixel that would be fab!

BirthdayKake · 31/12/2018 21:06

Glad to see others in my neck of the woods!

Honestly every single one of you that has posted has a lovely belly/bump! We beat ourselves up so much :( I remember feeling fat on my honeymoon in September. Just looked through the photos and I definitely wasn't!!

Happy New Year btw! Nearly the year for our babies to be here (the year of the Pig apparently 😂)

StargazyDrifter · 31/12/2018 21:09

Thanks for the new thread wombatron!

Lovely to see good news on scans and all the bumps. I'm ahort and a bit squishy round the middle so I just look more squishy currently, plus the bigger boobs make my torso look like a snowman's! ⛄️

I'm also in London, no family and friends with babies have all moved out to sensible greener places which are far away from us, so we've joined NCT to see if that'd work in terms of getting to know some local parents to be. Deep down we are a bit antisocial and like to spend time on our own though, so it's not a given!

Happy new year everyone, 2019 is going to be a big one! 😊

StargazyDrifter · 31/12/2018 21:10

BirthdayKake I was reading up on the pig just this morning! Apparently creative, sensitive types.

BirthdayKake · 31/12/2018 21:15

Ooh, weird Stargazy! Yes, apparently they're lovely children to have :)
