@Michelle0507 baby show is in london and birmingham

Jxtina86 · 01/01/2019 10:23

@ReginaPhalange89 from my limited research you can buy a separate new-born pack which has the carry cot. But then that pushes up the price even more and that's without a car seat. Saw a Oyster Zero pack which had carry cot and a maxicosi car seat which in total was £100 less than the BabyZen (without the new-born pack). Feel the only thing the BabyZen is great for is how tiny it folds down (it's carry on size for planes!) and lightness. Oh and that they seem to re-sell well! Friends have got Bugaboos and iCandys but they just look so heavy and bulky. But neither travel much on buses which will be my lifeline and from what I've seen, bulky on a bus is not good!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 01/01/2019 10:31

Sorry for the multiple messages currently chasing a toddler around while typing and reading. I'm in Weybridge so if anyone is Surrey way that would be great! Otherwise will have to join the london ladies

Michelle0507 · 01/01/2019 10:32

Thank you. Will look to go to the Birmingham one. We have our 20 week scan mid Feb so it'll be ideal.

Capybaras · 01/01/2019 10:46

Thank you @allthegoodnamesalreadytaken will take a look later!

Another question - my midwife advised to stop taking folic acid at 12 weeks and start on a general multivitamin/pregnancy one - what's everyone taking? I've heard people saying the pregnacare has made them nauseous so that's put me off a bit!
12+5 now and still taking my folic acid + vit d, as well as omega-3 and calcium/magnesium but not sure what to start taking now! If anyone could advise that would be great!

Baby show sounds good too - will have to see if I can persuade OH to come with me!

HchyScott · 01/01/2019 10:57

@Capybaras I’m just taking the Tesco pregnancy multi vitamin, it’s much cheaper and it was the only one that had calcium in it, something I feel I generally lack in my diet but not with the amount of cheese I’ve eaten over Christmas lol! I’ve had no adverse affects from it.

Michelle0507 · 01/01/2019 11:04

MW said to me you just need Vit D but could keep on with the Vit D & Folic Acid. Will look in Boots tomorrow as I'm running out.

Jxtina86 · 01/01/2019 11:27

@Capybaras I'm taking Pregnacare and the only time it made me feel sick was when I took it on an empty stomach. It says on the box to take it with a meal so been following that ever since and haven't had any effects.

StargazyDrifter · 01/01/2019 11:58

I take Pregnacare too, the ordinary ones did make me feel more sick. However I did take those ones during the peak sick period of 7-10 weeks. Then the Pregnacare Max were on offer and didn't give me the same sicky feeling. But that was after 10 weeks so possibly due to a natural drop off in sickness levels anyway. I just get whichever multivitamin is on offer when I run out. These all contain folic acid as far as I can tell. Searching online, it seems that folic acid after 12 weeks isn't essential, and neither is it harmful because you just pee out any excess.

Feeling a bit fragile this morning. I don't know whether it's the late (oh my, these days 1am is late!) finish or the 2/3 of a glass of champagne at midnight, but definitely a little groggy.

Really helpful to see the pram and baby show discussions. I'm a total novice. We'll get onto the big stuff after the NIPT test comes back, later in Jan.

Wondering about some vague New Year's resolutions:

  • learn how to and actually do kegels (!!!);
  • eat better now the constant sickness seems to be letting up a little;
  • pace myself more at work (easier said than done, I seem to only have one setting which is go, go, go);
  • write some letters to the baby.

I bought a beautiful journal when I first found out I was pregnant, mostly because I don't have my mother and would have loved to know what she was thinking etc. But somehow, the further I've got, the more I've been slightly avoiding writing in it.

MakeAWhish · 01/01/2019 12:02

@allthegoodnamesalreadytaken I'm in Hersham!! We're practically neighbours!

ReginaPhalange89 · 01/01/2019 12:22

@Jxtina86 ah see I like the icandy etc, I think a lot of them look similar. I'm sure the oyster is smaller than those ones but I'm not sure ! Definitely worth going to a pram centre or similar and trying some different ones out ! Maybe a sling would be a good option for you if you're on public transport a lot ?

With regards to multivitamins, I was given a bottle of them at my booking appt ! But before that I was just using Tesco ones.

ReginaPhalange89 · 01/01/2019 12:30

Has anyone thought much about breastfeeding/bottle feeding yet ? I know it's so early. I didn't with my first , then I did with my second but switched to formula around 8 weeks. Id like to say I'm going to try it again this time but honestly I already feel like I'm dreading it ! I think it's going to be so difficult being glued to the sofa feeding when I've got a toddler running around 🙈 I remember how difficult it was last time and that was with an almost 5 year old. I'm imagining how difficult the school run etc will be 🙈

blueeyedviking · 01/01/2019 12:36

Happy New Year everyone. Great news on all the scans and welcome to the newbies. I don't really use FB so will stay on here as well.

I went a bit quiet as my father in law passed away suddenly on 29th after a few days in intensive care. So since we had our 12 week scan on Xmas eve its been a true rollercoaster of emotions. We have stopped telling people about the pregnancy as we simply don't have the head space. I'm exhausted as also battling what I think is a chest infection so feel I need a few days of sleep really!

We were supposed to move countries in a few months but thats been cancelled as my MIL needs help and we don't want to leave her so soon. Family comes first. So I'll now start looking for groups, baby stuff etc..

@MakeAWhish @allthegoodnamesalreadytaken I'm in Guildford 😊

BirthdayKake · 01/01/2019 12:37

Regina I'm planning to breastfeed. I've never actually bottle fed a baby so wouldn't know how! Plus I love the feeling of breastfeeding... And the weight loss!

Capybaras · 01/01/2019 12:43

Thanks for the multivit recommendations - I'll have a look in Boots tomorrow!

I'm planning on breastfeeding but would like the option to bottlefeed too so I can have the odd break. Been advised to start baby with a bottle by 6 weeks so they don't reject it, hence why we've bought one of the feeding sets in the sale!

Had more stretching pains today so wondering if I'll pop soon!

Capybaras · 01/01/2019 12:44

Sorry to hear about your loss @blueeyedviking it's always hard to lose someone, but must be more so at this time of year when everyone's expected to be happy.
Hope you start to feel better soon

StargazyDrifter · 01/01/2019 12:50

blueeyedviking Sorry to hear your news. Easier said than done, but do look after yourself as well as being there for everyone else.xx

BirthdayKake · 01/01/2019 13:09

blueeyedviking sorry to hear about your FIL :( Hope you and your DH are coping ok x

Michelle0507 · 01/01/2019 13:24

Take care of yourselves @blueeyedviking x

twosecs · 01/01/2019 13:55

Hello hello I joined earlier threads but with Xmas etc I couldn't keep up! Is there a Facebook group yet? I'm a bit better at staying in touch on there.

I'm 15 weeks today! Ive had two scans and all fine and v wriggly, feeling some movement already which is lovely, and my midwife is an absolute babe and v keen to get me the home birth I wanted with #1 so long as all goes to plan!

Will try and be a bit more present on here now!

Onestep2 · 01/01/2019 14:05

@allthegoodnamesaretaken I'm 14 weeks today and I'm the same. I totally forget that I'm pregnant sometimes. For all ladies still feeling a bit rough there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I also can't wait to get back to the gym and to eat salad!!! I done a Bootcamp all last year and the next block starts in 2 weeks. I spoke to the instructor and he said I will be fine to come to this block and he will alter anything for me as the weeks go on! Bumps first Bootcamp!

I'm also in Glasgow!

I've heard a lot of good things about icandy prams? Are they not that good?

BirthdayKake · 01/01/2019 14:22

OneStep2 I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel :( I still feel so crap, and can't do anything really. I don't think I'm quite 12 weeks yet though. Will find out tomorrow I guess!

ohhellojo · 01/01/2019 14:40

Hello 👋🏻
I’ve been lurking for aaages on all of these threads and never posted because I just daren’t believe we finally had a sticky bean, BUT I’d love your thoughts on whether I can be feeling movement this early on - I’m 12 weeks with my first. Friends have said it’s (sorry tmi) like when you can feel wind moving in your gut before you fart (lol) and it IS sort of like that so I’m intrigued. My OH has felt it when he’s put his hand on me too, really faintly. I’m quite small, 5ft4 and 50kg so could it be that there’s not a lot between the bean and the outside world?

On another note, absolutely LOVING seeing your bump shots 😍

AnnaBegins · 01/01/2019 14:47

Happy New year!

@DianaBlythe, whenever is best for you for sling library, they can always work around a bump! And I had a fab one piece maternity swimming costume which was really flattering, possibly from ASOS- I didn't like having stretch marks on display on holiday!

Last time we did NCT signature course and it was so worth it, we are all still close friends, and I'm the last one to have a 2nd baby but all the others were pregnant together again (in 2 groups) which was nice too. Might do NHS ones but our area isn't great so the mums there may not be my kinda people...

I had cured meats last night and didn't even think! (And a glass of fizz). I'm usually fairly laid back though.

AnnaBegins · 01/01/2019 14:53

I'd be happy if we had a facebook group alongside this thread, it's kind of nice to keep good advice on different topics in a searchable place of that makes any sense!
