Hi ladies new on this thread. I'm expecting number 2 mid feb. Starting to feel real now. Sounds terrible but with a three year old in tow not given this time around much thought. I was at a soft play yesterday and a lady woth a baby asked me how far along I was when I said 32 weeks she said that she had her second daughter at 33 weeks!!!! Aaaaagggh. Think I need to get the tree down and pack my hospital bag. Xx

AliceRR · 31/12/2018 08:17

@detachablehoof I feel similar to the way you feel, I think. Seems it’s not long ‘til the birth but not really sure what to expect etc and haven’t had any antenatal classes so I’m left to google, mumsnet and what people tell me

I plan to go shopping today too 🙂

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 31/12/2018 09:03

I have never not wanted to go to work more than I do today... 😩😩

Fredthespider · 31/12/2018 09:36

@detachablehoof and @AliceRR I’ve really enjoyed reading the Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill! It’s jam packed full of lots of different scenarios and decisions you can make along with the pros and cons.

I am only part way through, but I’m happy with it so far.

Yakadee · 31/12/2018 09:42

Was just thinking, this time tomorrow I'll be able to say 'I'm having a baby this month' - woop!

With all the you ladies struggling to sleep - thank goodness the end is in sight!

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking - you poor thing, I hope it goes fast!

@Lulabell1 - been thinking of you, hope all is going well!

Xxx

AliceRR · 31/12/2018 09:45

Thanks @Fredthespider I’ll look out for that!

AvoidingMarking · 31/12/2018 09:51

@twiglet I had some feeding tips from H&M that I wore for the first few days under a t shirt. They were soft on breasts and kept breast pads in well.

AvoidingMarking · 31/12/2018 09:54

This is my first in 0-3 when she arrived, poor thing. We didn't know newborn was a size! Just picked it because it was cute and we didn't know what we were having. Parents had to make an emergency stop on the way to the hospital to buy some clothes that would fit. She was 7lb 9.

@AvoidingMarking - adorable though!! Xx

lanalawr · 31/12/2018 10:12

@AliceRR don't worry about not having done antenatal. The best thing I learnt from my nhs one last time was about the parking charges and fines at my local hospital. They'll only tell you the same as you can find online. You still wouldn't know what it'll be like because there's no way to predict and it's different for everybody every time.

Fredthespider · 31/12/2018 10:39

@AvoidingMarking very cute and also helpful for us first timers trying to judge sizes! I think I’m being over ambitious thinking about taking 0-3!

AvoidingMarking · 31/12/2018 10:41

@Fredthespider we definitely won't have any in our bag this time. She got into it after a month but was in newborn or first size until then.

Celebelly · 31/12/2018 11:13

We're taking pretty much all first size except one 0-3 sleepsuit just in case she comes out a monster!

Yakadee · 31/12/2018 11:38

I'm torn, so think I'll be taking a mix! This was my son 2 days after he was born in 'up to one month' - he soon didn't fit in this. Apparently this baby is going to be bigger! Who knows?? 🤷‍♀️

lanalawr · 31/12/2018 12:03

@Yakadee I don't blame you if 0-1 didn't last long at all! We weren't planning to take any 0-3 in at all but I'm torn now because I'm measuring well above the 95th percentile. I'll see what the growth scan predicts too because I'm likely to be referred for one in a couple of weeks. I think that unless there's a reason to believe you'll have a particularly big baby, it's best not to bother with 0-3 for the hospital bag. They're likely to be drowned in it!

detachablehoof · 31/12/2018 12:15

@fredthespider I have got the positive birth book but haven't looked at it for a few months! Definitely need to dig it out again.

Yakadee · 31/12/2018 12:33

@lanalawr - my son was 9lb2 and they predicted 71st so not quite right? It's so hard to get it right x

Surprisedmom · 31/12/2018 12:40

I found this article very interesting, essentially it says that not exposing babies to germs in the 1st year of their life can affect their immune system and likelihood of developing a range of diseases/allergies. This will certainly make me feel less guilty when I can’t keep everywhere spotless!
