hayley013 · 30/12/2018 17:54

Good luck @Lulabell1 will be thinking of you!

I echo everyone else, I had a long painful back to back labour with DD but still don't feel as nervous second time round, think that's because I'm not going into the complete unknown. Once it all started I went off into my own little world, just did what I had to do and it was fine x

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/12/2018 17:57

I've said this before and I'll say it again, labour was so much more painful than I ever expected! BUT it was very long and back to back. I bet if DS hadn't been B2B I'd have felt differently.

The pushing stage is much less painful though, so at least once you're fully dilated, you know the most painful bit is done.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/12/2018 18:13

Washing baby clothes... do you all tumble dry vests/sleepsuits?

I have, and my fella is saying I’ve shrunk them all... they don’t look shrunk to me though 🤷🏻‍♀️ And I dried them on a delicate cycle. The label says to tumble dry on a low heat.. and they were washed on 30.

Should be fine right??

Celebelly · 30/12/2018 18:17

I've tumble-dried anything and no shrinkage! Clothes that can't be tumble dried are not welcome in my house!

Celebelly · 30/12/2018 18:17

*everything, not anything!

maxiflump1 · 30/12/2018 18:21

I'm with @Celebelly: I tumble dry everything (except wool jumpers) Will tumble dry all the baby stuff out of the loft without giving it a second though: life's too short to iron babygros in my opinion!!

OP posts:
NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/12/2018 18:25

Exactly!! The dryer is friend and the iron is my mortal enemy.

My other half is literally the polar opposite! He doesn’t like to tumble most of his clothes, and he irons everything! I am often told off for not using the washing machine correctly 🙄😂

I might iron this first batch, just to show him they haven’t shrunk, they just look different unpressed!

sickmumma · 30/12/2018 18:28

Good luck @Lulabell1 hope all goes well xxx

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 18:30

I’ve tumble dried baby vests and other baby clothes and so far I don’t believe anything had shrunk so I’m sure you’re fine xx

@twinklingelephant you should have an email with a link now to join (it won't come to your fb)

Good luck @Lulabell1 sounds like baby is a great weight and you are def in the best place. I agree the steroid injections are horrible but worth it.

2019Mama · 30/12/2018 18:51

@lulabell1 Good Luck! Baby is a great weight it seems.
will be thinking of you.

Leonora94 · 30/12/2018 18:57

Good luck @Lulabell1 will be thinking of you x

lanalawr · 30/12/2018 19:28

Good luck @Lulabell1 !

I agree that you just get through labour. I had a pretty much painless back to back labour with dd. No idea why/how. I was expecting agony. I've probably been lulled into a false sense of security for this one. It's definitely been a more uncomfortable pregnancy.

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking I tumble dry them yes. They shrink slightly I think but not much.

Wames90 · 30/12/2018 19:44

I hope everything goes well for you @lulabell1 and you have your baby in your arms before you know it x

Rowse · 30/12/2018 19:45

@Lulabell1 good luck! Thinking of you and the little one.

I've washed all his clothes (lots were second hand) and think I'll give them a quick iron as the dryer made them very crumpled, as a few others have said I don't think they'll ever see an iron again, it's my least favourite task!

Should we wash muslins? I've got a swaddle one and a pack of smaller ones for the hospital bag and wondered if I should wash them?

@Eyedontknow our snuzpod still hasn't arrived, hopefully it'll be here tomorrow, if I remember I'll let you know if our sheets fit, give me a nudge in a couple of days if I haven't reported back.

Notquiteagandt · 30/12/2018 20:14

@Rowse I have washed everything. Even carriers etc. Not to be a martyr just i know how long they spend on container fraught liners and the conditions. Plus factories are notoriously dirty. As well as pest control chemicals etc used.

Muslins though I find tend to go softer the more they are washed. So a wash will only benefit them im sure.

Once they have had a good clean I will be far less particular once they are being used.

It is lovely though washing and sorting through all the clothes though isnt it?

Makes you realise how tiny they really are. You forget how small newbies are.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/12/2018 20:21

Yeah, I wash everything too... the amount of chemicals etc. that is on them I wouldn’t subject a newborn to.
