@Rowse and @Sickmumma and anyone else with advice, thanks! Probably should just buy one sheet at least for the meantime. Nearly 4 weeks to go and someone I know due the same time as me had her baby yesterday, need to be prepared!

As for ironing baby clothes, is that actually something people do? I hardly ever iron my own clothes Grin so can't see myself doing that for a baby's.

Welshshepherdess · 30/12/2018 07:27

@Yakadee managed to drop off about 4 till 7, after downing about a litr of milk.

@Wames90 symptoms disappeared after birth it’s just the way they are laying and getting shot on space at the moment.

Thankfully nothing on today other than entertaining a 5 year old so might get a sleep on the sofa later on.

Wames90 · 30/12/2018 07:55

Thank goodness for them disappearing as soon as they’re here @yakadee & @welshsheperdess. I think it’s our bodies preparing for sleepless nights for other reasons! I hope you can both have nice chilled out days today and tonight brings more sleep and less throat burns!

@eyedontknow I’ve ironed the bits I’ve washed but I’m sure it’ll be the first and last time they are ironed! X

@notquiteadandt I had an echo when I was investigated for shortness of breath, is that the heart test you have? It's OK, just un ultrasound of the heart but you do have to be topless and hang around for a while after to check they have everything they need.

Notquiteagandt · 30/12/2018 09:53

@emalady it was my gp who has reffered me to the cardio dr for them. So I am unsure as of yet. Know ive been booked in for some kind of a scan (ashuming this is the echo?) As well as a 48hr monitoring thing. (Unsure if I do it at home or have to stay in patient) I have already had an ECG but they want me to do a stress test as well. What ever that is.

My blood pressure is really low and my resting HB pulse is really high. It was 165 when the MW tested it yesterday so she freaked out a little. But I notice I am short of breath. And my heart rate seems to race more after I eat or I am sick. Feel like theres a bee buzzing in my chest.

I am fine with being topless as I guess I will be showing a lot more off in a few weeks 😂 but thanks for the heads up.

Think they are just being over cautious. As they do when you are pregnant.

twiglet · 30/12/2018 12:01

Ladies can I ask where/how you have sorted out nursing bras for your hospital bags?

All the shops I have spoken to have said they don't measure for nursing bras until 2 weeks before due date but that doesn't help me pack a hospital bag!

Midwife has stressed the importance of a good nursing bra with a proper fit to help reduce likelyhood of mastisis but no idea how to sort it out..... Confused

maxiflump1 · 30/12/2018 13:16

@twiglet I never got measured re nursing bras with DS. I just sort of guessed! And after my milk came in on day 4 boobs were too big for the ones I had bought but I certainly didn't feel like doing anyway to be measured so just bought a selection of sizes online and sent back the ones that didn't fit. It really isn't an exact science I'm afraid!

@Notquiteagandt sorry to hear you're still struggling. Sounds like baby will be here sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed for you.

The whole family here have been struck down with the lurgy and I haven't left the sofa for 2 days. Feel bloody awful and paracetamol just isn't cutting it. DH is obviously 🙄 much worse than I am and I'm very envious of his day and night nurse consumption! Supposed to be having friends over tomorrow for NYE ( just some food and board games) but think we will have to cancel.

Hi all, my name is Bev I’m 19 years old and am expecting twins due on 14th February! Just joined this website as I thought it would be nice to talk to people who are at similar stages in there pregnancy.

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 13:53

While I’m here I would also like to ask for advice on a couple things. First of all, I’m starting to experience quite a bit of pain when the babies kick and was wondering if there’s anyway to make myself more comfortable when that happens. Secondly, I’m having lots of trouble getting to sleep at night which I’ve heard is very normal during the third trimester but would love to hear if anyone have tips on how they manage to get to sleep!

MrsY87 · 30/12/2018 13:57

Hi @BeverlyZimek I'm also expecting twins and due on 15th Feb although they will be here before the end of Jan. Do you know what you're having?

Unfortunately the painful kicks are just par for the course, it's definitely worse with two in there though. Mine kick me in my ribs and push down into my pelvis constantly I just keep telling myself there isn't long to go now!

To get to sleep I've bought a bbhugme pregnancy pillow which helps me get comfortable and then I also listen to my hypnobirthing tracks to help me drift off.

I think someone further down the thread asked about the Fb group - if you want to join pm me your email address and I can add you to the group, just say on here you have pm'd me and I'll keep an eye out for it!

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 14:15

@MrsY87 congratulations on your twins, not long now! Yes I do know, I’m having two girls (identical) but still can decide on names 😕 thank you for the tips, I definitely need to try out the hypnobirthing tracks. I know what you mean about them kicking in the ribs and pushing down on the pelvis, it’s especially difficult when trying to get things done. It was partly painful the other day while I was setting up a couple last bits in their room.

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 14:16

*particularly not partly

welshweasel · 30/12/2018 15:08

@twiglet I bought bravado silk bras last time - super comfy and they stretch with you as your milk comes in. Perfect for the first few weeks then you can go and get measured properly once boobs settled down. I’m wearing them as sleep bras at the moment.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/12/2018 15:21

Ive just bought sleep nursing bras from Amazon.. the last two times I’ve breast fed I bought sleep bras from babies r us, and they were supportive enough.

Yakadee · 30/12/2018 15:33

Those of you suffering with heartburn, I've just had a vanilla mini milk and it's worked a treat (so far!) x

detachablehoof · 30/12/2018 15:35

My baby hardly moved yesterday, so I called maternity assessment at about 9pm and they asked me to go down to be monitored. Thankfully everything was fine and movements have been much more normal today, but going to assessment made me sooo nervous.... a bit too close for comfort!! It's made me realise that I've been totally had my head in the sand about giving birth and I'm actually clueless and terrified about it. 😔

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 15:41

@detachablehoof I’m so glad everything is okay and I get how you feel, the thought of labour terrifies me. Do you have anyone you are close to that you can talk to about how you’re feeling? I’ve found that talking to friends and family who have had kids is very calming, they’re able to be honest about it yet at the same time reassure you.

twinklingelephant · 30/12/2018 16:14

@mrsy87 it was me who asked earlier about the FB group, I've PMd you my email address.
I really need to get my self into gear over a bag etc, 33 weeks today. So much still to do but I just don't have the energy to do any of it!
Is anyone else getting massive hip pain during the night? Any top tips to deal with it? I'm sure I'd be saying I'm having a girl if I didn't already know it, she's causing me so much more grief than my pregnancy with my son! Or maybe it's just that I'm 6 years older now!!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/12/2018 16:20

Honestly, labour is fine. Thinking about it or hearing about it when you are not physically doing it yourself... it sounds horrendous! But when you are there and going through it, it’s nowhere near as bad as you’d imagine.

With my first labour it was so so long and tiring and I tore a little bit. The thought of that now makes me cringe, but at the time it was just part of it.
I truly believe a lot of it is mind over matter.. if you panic it’ll seem a lot worse, so get yourself informed (not with horror stories but with facts). And find coping mechanisms that work for you.. mine was sudoku and puzzler mags to zone out, that got me to 10cm then it was onto gas (fucking amazing stuff!!).

Most of all, just have belief in yourself.. our bodies are designed for this.

DeliberatelyGinger · 30/12/2018 16:23

Oooh I love mini milks

Since2016 · 30/12/2018 16:31

I’d second that - plus it is worth it to meet your baby. Even when it all goes a little wrong!

On a side note - my mum bought me two sets of lounge wear from uniqlo for Christmas. Amazing - so comfy and perfect non maternity maternity wear - esp for post birth so you can be dressed but not feel like a mess! Would highly recommend!!

Lulabell1 · 30/12/2018 16:56

Hello ladies my waters broke this morning 3.40am and no sign of anything so I am currently waiting to be induced the one thing i really didnt want baby hasent enough water now so I have no choice very terrified!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/12/2018 17:04

@lulabell1

Blimey, you only just posted that your bump had dropped loads! Don’t be terrified, there’s no reason baby will be fine.. they’d have induced you or booked a c section there and then if there was any immediate risk.

Did you even get a chance to pack your bag?

You lot have spurred me into action now, and m getting my bag ready!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/12/2018 17:04

No reason baby WON’T be fine that should’ve read! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Surprisedmom · 30/12/2018 17:11

@Lullabel good luck and i’m sure the doctors are doing what’s best and baby is fine. Hope you’re holding baby in your arms soon.

@twinklingelephant I get hip pain (mostly on one side) and have found a hot water bottle plus pregnancy pillow help, I also have a support belt that I wear when i’m out walking a lot and have done as much walking as possible as I think that helps.
