@lookingatthestars89 congratulations, hope you both recover well and don't have to stay in for too long.

I'm 34 weeks now and have sorted most of my bag but not the baby stuff. Might shove a few bits in a bag for now and then sort it out properly once I start mat leave after the 4th January.

Rowse · 27/12/2018 07:28

@Eyedontknow we bought the snuzpod3 all in white. I quite liked the natural wood one but it was sold out. It's free next day delivery so should be here soon.

hayley013 · 27/12/2018 08:18

Wow congratulations @LookingAtTheStars89 what a Christmas surprise! Hope you're both well enough to be together soon.

I really need to get sorted, 33w tomorrow and don't have a hospital bag packed in any way shape or form. Gonna do it all next week and get organised

Yakadee · 27/12/2018 08:48

@LookingAtTheStars89 - I did not expect to see that when I logged in! Congratulations!! Hope you're all home and well asap. Xxx

lanalawr · 27/12/2018 08:57

Wow @LookingAtTheStars89 that was quick! Hope Teddy is doing well and that your infection clears quickly so that you can see him soon. Congratulations!

Surprisedmom · 27/12/2018 09:03

@sickmumma you can claim maternity allowance after you have started your mat leave and they’ll pay you retrospectively, so although that’s not ideal financially you would still get the money. I sent my form off and got a reply within 2 weeks so I think they often process it faster than the maximum amount of time too. I would just put some pressure on your work for the payslips and the form as soon as you can. It really only takes a few minutes for them to print and fill out the form so they ought to be able to do it for you.

twiglet · 27/12/2018 09:06

@LookingAtTheStars89 congratulations hope you are reunited soon and both get home soon he's a really good weight so fingers crossed it won't be too long.

Since2016 · 27/12/2018 09:15

Congratulations!! So sorry you’re not together. I hated being separated from DD when she was born I really hope you can be transferred soon.

I was only just thinking the other day that in my Jan group we had a 27 weeker and then babies born in Nov and Dec so thought we were doing well! 33 weeks tomorrow and less than 6 weeks to go till B-Day!

I’ll be sorting out stuff over the coming weeks I think! Still feels like ages away 😂

Yakadee · 27/12/2018 09:44

My next job is defo sorting bags out (I'll be 35 weeks on Sunday!) - suddenly feel the pressure! X

AutumnLee12 · 27/12/2018 09:58

Congratulations @LookingAtTheStars89 what a surprise! Hope you are both reunited soon.

I'm 33 weeks today and will defo be finishing my hospital bag now! Everyone keeps telling me I'm going to give birth early! Which sends me into a mild panic

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas 🎄

AliceRR · 27/12/2018 11:14

@LookingAtTheStars89 Congratulations! I’m pleased you’re both doing well.

I made my hospital bag list yesterday and seeing you ladies already starting to have the babies, and starting getting my back together, makes it all seem so real and exciting!

There’s a lady on the Facebook group who has had her baby too so think that’s two of us?

So weird to think I have just over 6 weeks til my due date!

Since2016 · 27/12/2018 11:47

It does annoy me though when people - with absolutely no basis for it - insist that a baby will be early. People did that last time (6 days over actually) and this time - because my bump is big. V annoying when you’re 40 weeks and losing the will! I don’t want this baby to come early thanks - I have my date and I am planning to that date!!

Yakadee · 27/12/2018 13:25

@Since2016 - seems everyone has an opinion about everything once you're pregs. 'Too big, too small' blah blah. Xx

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 27/12/2018 13:36

@LookingAtTheStars89

Congratulations!!! Hope you are together again soon! Crazy to think any one of us could have our baby any time now! 😬

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 27/12/2018 13:41

@Yakadee

I think people just loudly state their opinion (however inane) so that if by chance they are right they can crow about it afterwards.

My mum made comment of me probably being earlier this time round due to it being my third. I can’t see her logic as both mine were late (14 & 12 days), and it’s been over a decade since I last gave birth... I’m kind of thinking my body has reset in that time (sort of... does that happen?) so I’m basically a first timer again 😬

Fact is, no one knows, it’s pure speculation 🤷🏻‍♀️

Since2016 · 27/12/2018 13:54

Exactly! Unless you’ve got a fam history of pre term births or have had early babies before, OR have been told it’s likely owing to a physical issue it’s literally guesswork! Size, bump dropping, Braxton Hicks etc.... not a reliable indicator! I’m nowhere near ready either / want my lovely calm c section so am probably getting more irritated with the proclamations!

Celebelly · 27/12/2018 13:57

I love all the non-medically trained people who can tell exactly when someone is due, when they're going to give birth, if they're big or small for gestation, etc. just by looking at you. Maybe they should get a job in the NHS and use their super powers there Grin

I've been giggling at that Meghan Markle thread in Chat about her due date, with people convinced she's due the same time I am cos she's 'so big'. I bloody wish I was that neat! I bet if we all on here took pics of our bumps, there would be such a huge variation in sizes, how we carry, etc. There's just no way of knowing.

Yakadee · 27/12/2018 14:05

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking - you're probably right Haha.

@Celebelly - Haha clearly wasted in their day jobs!

@Since2016 - it's a guessing game! Like you, people keep asking 'do you think she'll be early ' - bloody hope not, I'm having a section! Lol x

maxiflump1 · 27/12/2018 14:07

Both me and my cousin are expecting and she's 2 weeks ahead of me. We spent all day yesterday at a family party with people asking us to stand up so they could "compare" our bumps, who's carrying the lowest, who's the biggest etc. I know they mean well but we were both swearing under our breath by the end of it!

Eyedontknow · 27/12/2018 14:18

@Since2016 , I have a coworker who tells me every time she sees me that I must be due earlier than I am and the doctors have clearly made a mistake given how big/low I am...

@Rowse , we got the snuzpod3 as well. Have you bought any sheets/mattress protectors? The reviews I've read seemed to suggest the brand ones don't fit the 3 very well. I'm trying to find cheaper alternatives anyway, but I can't figure out which ones will fit best since the crib is relatively new. Same with mattress protectors.

lanalawr · 27/12/2018 16:31

@Eyedontknow why don't you buy flat sheets for it? That's what we did for our next to me last time. We found some flat waterproof sheets (possibly amazon but can't remember) then bought cot bed sized flat sheets to go on top. Folded in half and then tucked under they worked really well then we used them in dd's cot bed too. I'll be doing the same this time.

Notquiteagandt · 27/12/2018 16:45

@Eyedontknow buyer head on here! But remember the snuzpod has a natural coir mattress so matress protectors need a gao around the edge to let the mattress breathe.

The mattress protectors dont go all the way around.

Just something to bare in mind if buying non branded ones.

Fredthespider · 27/12/2018 17:01

@LookingAtTheStars89 massive congratulations but also sorry to hear that you're not feeling the best. Hope you're on the mend shortly with your little one x

Lookingforadvice123 · 27/12/2018 18:45

Wow huge congratulations Lookingatthestars89! He is gorgeous, sorry you're not feeling so good. Hope you're better soon!!!

Since2016 the 27 weeker in our 2016 January group terrified me (the birth being so early, no the baby naturally! I met him randomly on holiday last year and he's great). But equally at 32+1 I still feel like there's bags of time, I think I'm in denial! Especially as DS was born at 39 weeks, I think I had sorted everything for him by this point!

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. We had an absolutely fantastic time, and it was DS' 3rd birthday yesterday which was also great. I've been very emotional at how quickly he's growing up recently, so I'm very glad I'll be off on maternity leave soon and get to see so much more of him.

Since2016 · 27/12/2018 19:01

I know @lookingforadvice123 !!! I actually did get the bags down from the loft earlier. Now freaking out because there’s about 6 loads of washing (and we have a huge washing machine) to do and I can’t find any of the baby blankets... glad I got it all down! I’m totally in denial!!!! Can’t believe he’s three!!

Also can’t believe how tiny the baby clothes are... imagine DD was ever that little!
