I have suffered all day today with a really bad back couldnt walk couldnt stand up straight and I though a bath would help but I run it so hot that I couldnt breathe and I felt so sick I had to get out felt like I was suffocating wont be doing that again my skin was red raw! Back to work tomorrow and Im really not looking forward to it but maternity starts 10th Jan not long Smile

Yakadee · 27/12/2018 19:42

@Since2016 and @Lookingforadvice123 - I could have written that. My son will be 3 in March and it's going way too fast! I could have cried sorting all his little baby clothes out 😩

@Lulabell1- I have been suffering with my back too, although doesn't sound as bad as yours - you poor thing! The end is in sight, hang in there xx

sickmumma · 27/12/2018 20:09

@Surprisedmom thank you!! I didn't realise that they would backdate it! Work have been useless I've had no reply at all and I'm not due back until 14th jan so def don't want to leave it that long to get sorted!! Partly my fault also as perhaps I should have sorted this all out a lot earlier but things like payslips I should have - the delay is because she has messed up my pension apparently so needs to correct it? She's so disorganised it's unbelievable!!

@Eyedontknow We have got the new snuzpod and I have ordered the sheets and mattress protector which are due to be delivered on the 3rd jan! I will try them out and let you know!!

I managed to get the nuna leaf rocker second hand and it's beautiful! Can't wait to put baby in it! Getting quite excited now! Daughters birthday is 25th jan and once that's done we are focused on baby!!

It's mine and DH significant birthdays (he's a day older than me) a week before baby is due and I'm stressing out a bit as I can't really plan anything special as I don't know when baby will come!!

Rowse · 27/12/2018 20:37

@Eyedontknow I have actually got a couple of fitted snuzpod brand sheets, I bought them discounted a while ago. When the snuzpod arrives I'll try them out and let you know.
It would be good to find a non-brand cheaper alternative too.

I look MASSIVE compared to some people in my antenatal classes. Doesn’t help that I’m 5’2” and wasn’t tiny before!

I bought a Stokke changing table on eBay for £10.50 today and a bundle of newborn baby clothes for £1.50 (plus postage) and some 0-3 bits for a bit more so getting there.

Oh and we bought our pram!

Need to get nappies and changing mat and baby essentials for hospital bag!

Welshshepherdess · 28/12/2018 08:30

@LookingAtTheStars89 oh my goodness I was not expecting to see a baby pic this morning!! Congratulations! How are you both doing? Slightly nervous now I’m further along than you and have not even thought about packing washing and sorting baby stuff yet. Might have to get a wiggle on this weekend!

How are the rest of the bumps ladies all secure at the moment??

Yakadee · 28/12/2018 08:52

@Welshshepherdess - all good here. I'll be 35 weeks on Sunday so feeling very real for me - especially seeing this today! Xx

bubblybrit · 28/12/2018 12:14

@Welshshepherdess. I’m 33 weeks tomorrow and have just written out what I need for my hospital bag. Now need to go out and buy some things which I’m hoping to do this weekend....😀 x

AliceRR · 28/12/2018 12:37

@bubblybrit I’m 33 + 5 and have just put together my list. I’m looking at what I can get online (don’t feel up to shopping with PGP and a cold) but some things are on sale. Probably need to go to the supermarket for things like nappies...

Alicejj8x · 28/12/2018 13:20

ahhhh congrats @LookingAtTheStars89

bubblybrit · 28/12/2018 14:14

@AliceRR. I have been doing the same this afternoon. My list seems never ending though! It’s freaking me out a little bit to be honest.

powkin · 28/12/2018 14:38

Our pram has arrived. The instructions are... unhelpful!

Cat has also come back from the cattery and is quite upset and full of very noisy beans. It’s not very easy to get anything done with the commotion he is causing!

Lulabell1 · 28/12/2018 16:28

If someone could post their hospital bag list id appreciate it i cant remember what i took last time x

welshweasel · 28/12/2018 17:32

I’d add flip flops for the shower and your phone charger!

And I didn’t bother taking a towel. I’d rather bleed all over the hospital ones that go straight in the laundry.

bubblybrit · 28/12/2018 17:56

Should sleepsuits be 0-3 months or should I pack some first born sizes? According to MW she expects baby to be approx 8lbs but I’ve heard on MN that these measurements aren’t always accurate?

Lookingforadvice123 · 28/12/2018 18:01

Oh thanks welshweasel I'll add flip flops! Can't remember if I took any last time.

I don't know if my hospital provide towels to be honest! I bought a black cheapie from Asda specifically last time so will dig that out again. Everything in my bag will be black Grin

Lookingforadvice123 · 28/12/2018 18:02

bubblybrit I'm only taking newborn sleepsuits, the ones from John Lewis and ASDA that I have go up to well over 9lb. DS was 7lb 13 and long, but all the newborn stuff was huge on him.

Lulabell1 · 28/12/2018 18:12

Thanks! So i had midwife today my 34 week app even tho im only 33+3 and he is 1/4 engaged!!!

lanalawr · 28/12/2018 18:21

@Lookingforadvice123 I was definitely given a towel for my shower straight after dd was born in the MLU. I've got a vague memory of using a cotton sheet for my shower the next day because there was no towel and I hadn't taken one.

@bubblybrit I also found the newborn sleepsuits big on 7lb12oz dd. Babies are quite curly when they're first born so often don't have their feet in the legs of their sleepsuits anyway.

Maybe I should think about packing soon. Even my midwife asked about it today at my 34 week appointment. Dh and dm have been nagging me for weeks.

Lookingforadvice123 · 28/12/2018 18:25

Oh interesting lanalawr! If I can't find my black ones maybe I won't bother.

twinklingelephant · 28/12/2018 18:30

Oh my goodness, congratulations @lookingatthestars89!
I keep meaning to get into this group properly then things crop up and I am pages behind again.
I'm so pleased you've all been posting about hospital bags, I'm completely unprepared and need to get myself sorted.
Got a really dodgy tummy this evening and plenty of BH which is making me super worried now seeing one of the babies is here already 😂 Time to get myself sorted out.
Please can I ask again (I'm sure I did before) how info about joining you all on FB? I'm so much better at keeping up with people over there! Thanks, and solidarity to those with painful hips at night!!

bubblybrit · 28/12/2018 18:34

Thank you @Lookingforadvice123 & @lanalawr. We have received quite a few sleepsuits for 0-3 so think I’ll go shopping tomorrow for some newborn sizes!

Have also been looking at pampers nappies size 1....want to stock up but not sure if size 1 is correct or the quantity that I’ll need for the first month?

Sorry for all the questions....you can tell that I’m a FTM 😀!! Xx

welshweasel · 28/12/2018 18:44

Definitely take newborn sleep suits and yes size 1 nappies.

bubblybrit · 28/12/2018 18:48

Great. Thanks @welshweasel. Feel a little more prepared for my shopping trip tomorrow!
