@twiglet and @Yakadee I was recommended this car seat wrap, it sounds like the same thing you're talking about morrck.com/product-category/baby-hoodie-travel-wraps/

I did some research and they are safety approved so much better than snow suits or coats and can't be kicked off

Yakadee · 24/12/2018 08:51

@Rowse - yes that's it! It was fantastic, will defo be using again. X

Yakadee · 24/12/2018 09:19

@twiglet - yikes, I hate the cold! It's 1 here this morning. You're a bit further north than me though (I'm west Yorkshire) x

Notquiteagandt · 24/12/2018 10:38

How heart breaking for the mothers of those little angels. It doesnt bare thinking about cant imagine their pain.

Bh for me started around 18w and just uncomfortable more than anything. Last 3 weeks or so have been really painfull.

To the point saturday I was convinced I was going into labour. Thought I probally should start timing these contractions. Then they stopped as soon as they came on.

Seem to be in my lower back alot. Which hurts. My whole bump goes tight and I get a wave of bad period type cramps low down. And feel a sudden drop and heavy pressure.

Each time they seem stronger so dread what real things going to be like 🙈

babyp160 · 24/12/2018 12:15

We have been given the car seat blanket too from the same company. Looks so snug!!!

costacoffeecup · 24/12/2018 16:49

Can anyone comment on the accuracy of fundal measurement? I was measuring bang on 32 at 32 weeks and measured today (two weeks later) at 31!! Midwife not bothered at all and didn't even plot on chart, and I have a growth scan in ten days anyway but all seems a bit weird really, should I have expected her to be concerned?

Yakadee · 24/12/2018 17:29

In my experience, not very. I had a growth scan at 31 weeks because they thought I hadn't grown since the last time and baby was 4.8lbs! No issues with baby and if she carries on that same path, she'll be around 9 and a half pounds! X

costacoffeecup · 24/12/2018 18:21

Thanks @Yakadee - yes she didn't seem bothered at all but made me wonder what the point in doing it was if she wasn't going to take any notice. It was weird that it was smaller but it does seem like baby has gone very low.

Yakadee · 24/12/2018 18:25

@costacoffeecup - my midwife sent me because she 'had to'. She said that she knew it was because of baby's position (she was head down and all curled up) and didn't think it would be anything to worry about x

emalady · 24/12/2018 20:16

@costacoffeecup I'm pretty sure that they were going to stop doing the measurements as they are not very accurate and affected by position /size of baby /fluid level and size of mum so a big baby with no fluid can measure the same as a tiny one with lots of fluid or perfectly middling baby. Think they still do it so they feel they are monitoring but not all that helpful really.

costacoffeecup · 24/12/2018 21:18

She did say 'I'm not really supposed to be measuring!' I'm just a bit meh about having ten days to worry about it over Christmas and new year til the scan, but at least I've got the scan booked I guess. Thank you x

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 24/12/2018 21:41

I was measuring four weeks ahead by fundal height.. so they sent me for a scan. That said I was only measuring a week ahead.

Personally I think it’s all rubbish. I know of so many people sent for scans etc. And more often than not.. whatever they are told, the opposite happens 🤷🏻‍♀️

Notquiteagandt · 24/12/2018 22:10

My scans and my fundal height have no correlation. My fundal is also up and down. My Mw said is so unpredictible as things like position baby. If you need the loo. Trapped wind. If youve eaten etc can make a big differance. Also if differant people do them.

It is more looking for at least a little growth. But even then not to worry if not until a scan.

My fundals and scans have had measurements on my growth chart from 5th percentile to 90th.

Try not to worry Flowers

So my christmas has started with a bang. Been really struggling. Ran out room as we had guests and didnt want to be sick in front of them. Managed to fall down the stairs as I fainted. My poor elbows and knees are black and blue and cut to shreads. Luckily my bump didnt take much of it.

Can we just fast foreward to the new year now please?

Hope you ladies have fantastic less eventful christmas' 🎅🎄🎁

lanalawr · 24/12/2018 23:28

That's encouraging @NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking. I've measured 3-4 weeks ahead the last two appointments. My next one is this week and I think if I'm still measuring big they're going to send me for a scan. They might as well have booked it anyway because I'd imagine if I'm not measuring ahead they'll say the baby has stopped growing (not likely looking at the size of me!).

powkin · 25/12/2018 07:53

Merry Christmas everyone! We may not always feel that merry but oh well! May your days be filled with delicious food, foot rests and a plentiful supply or rennies and gaviscon!

@Notquiteagandt - that sounds horrible. I had to jump out of bed yesterday as thought I was going to be sick, amazed I wasn’t. I had been hormonal ugly crying due to family issues and starting to get a anxiety attack so think that made me feel sick.

My hope that I might be able to set boundaries and sort things out with family at Christmas are not going well at all, I’ve mainly just tried to avoid it all together 🙄 Not model behaviour from me!

Yakadee · 25/12/2018 08:21

Merry Christmas everyone 🎄🎄

My son is still asleep!!!!

Hope you all have a lovely day (second @powkin - rennies at the ready!) xx

maxiflump1 · 25/12/2018 10:28

Merry Christmas everyone!! Hope you all have a lovely day and just imagine how different next Christmas will be for us all!

I've watched the family tuck into all butter croissants which I normally love but have had such bad acid reflux can't stomach it. Woke up sever times in the night with mouthfuls of sucky acid Envy Not going to be gorging myself this year that's for sure.

My 3 year old had a transformer dressing up costume and is now not answering unless you address him as Optimus prime......

Hope everyone’s having a fab Christmas!

MIL commented yesterday that my bump has “dropped”.

My Mum just said today that baby is going to come soon as my bump has dropped.

Is this a thing? I have never really heard of a bump dropping or that this suggests baby is going to come early...

AliceRR · 25/12/2018 21:07

Also I mentioned I’m a bit itchy (my forearms are slightly itchy and I have a slight rash on my lower back which itches) and she said this could be a liver problem but nhs site suggests this isn’t something to worry about

hayley013 · 25/12/2018 21:08

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you've all had a lovely day. I second the bad acid and heartburn, haven't overindulged too much but definitely ate a lot of food. Been lovely to stay home with the family all day though.

@AliceRR everyone is also telling me bump has dropped, and did around the same time with DD (32w) but she came on time at 40w. So I don't think it necessarily means much to 'drop' early, this ones head has recently engaged so that could explain why I look lower

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 25/12/2018 21:10

Bumps do drop.. mine has, but it is no indication that a baby is imminent.

It’s just that the baby has changed position and is fairly well engaged, but it can be this way for weeks and weeks.

AliceRR · 25/12/2018 21:13

Interesting. Thanks. Baby was not head down before and I’m not sure if baby has moved but seeing MW on Monday so she might have be able to tell me that

powkin · 26/12/2018 01:19

Felt I had got away with Christmas indulgence a bit heartburn wise until now, just woke up with epic 1am acid reflux and heartburn and only rennies upstairs! I was also super hot 🥵 this appears to be becoming more of a thing, waking up boiling!

emalady · 26/12/2018 07:46

@powkin how is the anxiety. I have never really suffered before but with the baby pressing on my diaphragm I keep waking up feeling panicked and struggling a lot with sleep. Exhausted in the day but can't sleep at night. Hopefully it's getting better but it really sucks.

Lulabell1 · 26/12/2018 08:17

I was very lucky yesterday absolutely stuffed my face and poor DP was the one who ended up with the heartburn/reflux all night! Im hitting the sales today im going to buy some bigger sized clothes for baby were going to Fenwicks as my other half does security there and we get a cheeky extra 25% off☺️

I hope everyone enjoyed yesterday and also your children!
