So i have been told ive got my c section date! 19th feb! My due date is 2nd march but have pregnancy diabetes so said it will be earlier! Im not at all excited more nervous about how it will change dynamics of family as have 23 month old!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 22/12/2018 10:22

The tablets I’ve got are Ferrous Fumarate.. I do have Spatone as well, but I’m nervous that the Spatone won’t give me what I need... will talk to the midwife in the new year though, about that and a change of tablets maybe.

Discovered Weetos are high in iron... this makes me happy!

Anyone with hips, pelvic, back pain this has been wonderful!

Very comfortable too.

Oh and £6.95! I wasn't sure how it would be as so cheap but it's great.

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking I made the mistake of taking spatone instead of the ferrous fumerate but my levels still dropped because you’d have to take 5/6 sachets a day minimum to get the same amount of iron. I’d really recommend going to the docs and saying the ferrous fumerate doesn’t agree with you.

Lulabell1 · 22/12/2018 18:51

Anyone suffering with constipation? Iv had it the whole way through but its so bad now too the point i havent been to toilet in about 8days now. I can never get a doctors appointment i dont no what to do!

twiglet · 22/12/2018 18:57

@Lulabell1 have you tried dried fruit or the Ella kitchen prune (it's baby food)? 8 days is crazy!

I was suffering from the iron tablets but having a handful of dried apricots each night is helping.

1stTimeTina · 22/12/2018 19:38

@babyp160 thanks for the recommendation, just ordered one! I'm In Agony with my back and haven't slept properly in a week . It's not my lower back though it's like on the left hand side about half way up? It's getting worse each day :( not sure if it's worth seeing the gp or not, duno if there's anything they can even do?

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 22/12/2018 19:45

@Surprisedmom Reading the packets, Spatone didn’t seem anywhere near the dose of the tablets. Will see if I settle on the tablets (I’ve only been taking them a few days) but if it stays the same I’ll definitely ask about switching 👌🏼

Thanks for the help/advice all 😊

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 22/12/2018 19:47

@Lulabell1

Try lactulose as well as changing your diet.. helped me when I was suffering.

Squashbanana1 · 22/12/2018 19:53

@Lulabell1 OMG me too 😳 it's not a nice feeling at all! Belly felt so huge and pressure! I went to the pharmacy and got some suppositories - did the job and feel soooo much better today 👍🏼 worth a try instead of waiting for GP appointment especially today.

Also developing into haemorrhoids which is not a fun game. Ah the joys of pregnancy!

babyp160 · 22/12/2018 20:04

@1stTimeTina is it like the sciatic nerve?

I've been the same. This is good support! Hopefully it'll help you too.

costacoffeecup · 22/12/2018 21:01

Constipation has been the worse thing about this pregnancy for me, had it on and off since the start. Got to the point where I was scared of going. Got a massive pack of suppositories from amazon - they are painful and unpleasant but they do work. Having a maintenance cup of prune juice a day now and seems to have made things a bit easier but if I miss a day it's back to pain and suffering. It really is miserable, I could hardly walk at one point and thought I'd have to take the day off work until I managed to get suppository to work 😓

lanalawr · 22/12/2018 21:02

Spatone is definitely nowhere near the levels of iron that you get in the ferrous fumerate. When I asked my midwife if I could swap she suggested alternating between the two each day or just taking Spatone on the days I couldn't face the tablets any longer. It's good to know there are more gentle options though.

powkin · 22/12/2018 23:21

Been at home all of 10 hours and sister has been super overwhelming, wanting to touch the bump, feel it kick, and now she’s done both of those things for some reason she wants to see my naked bump?? What the fuck? I’ve been fairly tolerant up to now and figure I’d rather just let her feel it kick and get it over with but me stripping off so she can see my stomach is a hard no. My family have serious boundary issues at the best of times but this really takes the biscuit!

twiglet · 23/12/2018 02:32

Note to self, braxton hicks combined with trapped wind from iron tablets has the effect of me thinking I was going into labour!Xmas BlushXmas Blush
Honestly I struggled to move, it lasted up to a minute each time with my right side cramping every 2-3 minutes with the pain getting worse throughout.....

It was only forcing myself to stand up and walk about which seem to shift everything and stop it Xmas BlushXmas Confused

I'm very glad I didn't wake DH up, really need to finish packing a hospital bag! Feeling like a bit of a idiot!

Yakadee · 23/12/2018 08:12

@twiglet - that sounds so painful!! I need to sort my hospital bag out too - I'm 34 weeks today!!! X

DeliberatelyGinger · 23/12/2018 08:44

Had my first stranger touch my bump yesterday. Weirdly I wasn’t as bothered as I thought I’d be. It was a little old lady in a lift I was talking to and she just sort of tapped it with her finger whilst asking when I was due. Guess I’m more tolerant than I thought

Fredthespider · 23/12/2018 09:15

@chicken2015 yay for getting a date! It must be so lovely to be able to plan ahead for baby arriving. I think that’s what makes me the most anxious, not knowing when it’s going to happen, just a very rough timescale!

I’ve made it further than my sister did with my nephew and baby seems pretty snug so don’t expect them any time soon!

Yakadee · 23/12/2018 09:16

I've actually only had a few people interested in my bump and that's mainly my sisters so can cope with that. I'm not into getting my naked tum out though!

I'm going to pack my hospital bag soon and want a few pairs of leggings. I've been wearing mothercare ones and I actually really like the fit but they end up with holes in them in no time!

Anyone got any recommendations? I want something comfortable and stretchy as having a section xxx

babyp160 · 23/12/2018 09:54

People always touch my bump and I just get used to it now. Working with children and 8 sisters between us means lots of affection!

@powkin Hopefully the novelty will wear off!

Since2016 · 23/12/2018 10:21

Great news @chicken! @yakadee I actually wouldn’t recommend leggings unless they’re v loose. I couldn’t abide anything touching my scar so found harem style pants and pjs best at first. And esp not anything that requires bending to put on!

I’ve not given this any further thought... I think I ended up wearing a dress home after mine!

Surprisedmom · 23/12/2018 10:58

@powkin wow that is seriously past the boundary. I hope you have managed to sternly tell her no - I think i’d kick out of my house anyone who persisted in such weird requests. I really don’t know why some people stop thinking you own your own body once you’re pregnant! I mean touching the bump is one thing, but asking you to get naked is a whole other level!

Yakadee · 23/12/2018 11:15

@Since2016 - ah thanks. Suppose my leggings don't really touch that part now with a massive bump lol. I'll have a look around. I'm taking big knickers and nighties so far x

powkin · 23/12/2018 11:37

@Surprisedmom my family is so weird I find it hard to know what a normal boundary is! I can just about figure that one out of my own though! I’ve been more chilled about tummy touching than I thought I’d be but it still irks me a little. I know most people are just unthinking rather than anything else. I’m at my parents until the 27th so will have to bear it until then. Part of what I find weird is that we aren’t close (in my eyes) and yet there’s this expectation that she’ll be really close to my baby, like she’ll be at the hospital and round at my house doing babysitting and seeing the baby all the time. I don’t really know how to broach that conversation. It’s like well if you don’t have time for me why would I want you to be spending loads of time with my baby? It’s like I’ve ceased to exist a little bit, like no one can see that this would be an quite upsetting or offputting... I’m not sure what he word is!

emalady · 23/12/2018 11:51

@powkin that is really odd, strange the way people can start ignoring you and just focusing on the baby.
I'm reasonably close to my family but do still find it a bit strange when family touch my bump. It just seems a bit awkward.
I've come back to mum's house around 2 hours from home, should be fine but starting to regret not having brought my hospital bag and a few baby bits with me just in case.
