I'm a first timer too. It's a special kind of joy.😉

Laburna there's a thread on the pregnancy board about salty crisp cravings. Custom says boy, apparently! Hope you're feeling a bit better.

cathyj87 · 19/11/2018 20:04

So sorry for all of the sad news, I've just been catching up and am gutted for you all.
I've had a shitty day. Had a meeting with my manager to address the fact she's made me and my colleague feel shitty over the last while and ended up crying because she accused me of saying something horrible I would never ever say. Someone else then told our CEO I'm pregnant before I could - he's been out of country and today was literally the first chance and somehow by 9am she had beaten me to it?! Everyone in work now knows and is being lovely.
Unfortunately I'm going away until Sat for a conference with the manager and 2 others and I couldn't see it far enough! Just had to try to pack and although I didn't think I was too bloated I just couldn't face wearing most of my wardrobe, think I might have to go shopping for some floaty dressed with room to grow.

Sorry for the essay, my day doesn't compare to some of yours. Is it too early to blame hormones for being overly emotional?

MyloC · 19/11/2018 20:07

So sorry @5fivestar my heart is breaking for you.

Laburna · 19/11/2018 20:13

@stargazydrifter not sure I can class it as a craving, salt and vinegar crisps are always my go to when I feel poorly, pregnant or not!

I suspect it'll be a boy anyway, my sister had 3, so I assume I'll have 2. Not that I mind, means I don't have to buy any new clothes or deal with pink stuff invading my house! 😂

@cathyj87 I think it's definitely time to blame the hormones, I find myself getting over emotional about all sorts of stuff at the moment! Rubbish about all the drama at work :( hope you feel better in the morning! This time of pregnancy is awful, nothing fits but it's not like there's anything there. With my first I just constantly felt flumpish 😟

StargazyDrifter · 19/11/2018 20:13

cathyj87 commiserations and hugs to you. It's bad enough feeling a bit discombobulated in the first trimester anyway (not to mention the uncontrollable bloat, which I also suffer from!) and then she's gone and wrong-footed you with the CEO. Plus all that difficult convrsation stuff is even more difficult with hormones all over the place. That's not on, they could have been kinder.

Here's an hCG chart - definitely not too early to blame the hormones!

I panic-bought some bigger pants and jumpers at the weekend and feel much better for having them. Hope the conference goes smoothly.

July 2019 Part 3 - Still in the 1st Trimester!
TwinkleDay · 19/11/2018 20:14

@5fivestar can’t imagine what your going through. Sending virtual hugs xxx

StargazyDrifter · 19/11/2018 20:16

What an excellent word - flumpish! Very accurate.

TwinkleDay · 19/11/2018 20:17

@cathyj87 sounds like a super shit day too but hopefully things will get better now everyone knows and can be supportive.

That chart explains my hormone levels lol, I through a dect phone across the room with someone on the other end of it while not being able to locate a watermelon in the fridge today. Luckily it was a man at the other end of the phone so just thought i was a bit tetchy 😂

DartmoorDoughnut · 19/11/2018 20:17

@5fivestar so so sorry Sad

StargazyDrifter · 19/11/2018 20:32

TwinkleDay 😂 But of course! 😂

cathyj87 · 19/11/2018 20:35

Thanks ladies, knew you guys would make me feel better :) I'm going to just have to suck it up over the next few days and just look forward to my first scan next week!

Kentishgal · 19/11/2018 20:52

5fivestar so sorry to hear that - take care of yourself. Been too many losses already on here.

Stargazydrifter that's fab news as it sounds like you've really been through it.

Last pregnancy I was huge really early on - I'm only a size 6-8 usually but I just exploded - three people in the office asked me if I was pregnant before I told everyone at 12 weeks.I just wore this ridiculous tulip dress until 12 weeks 😂

Meg1389 · 19/11/2018 20:54

Hi
I’m 7 weeks on wed and due July 2019. I’ve had a rough couple of weeks since I found out from having really bad tummy cramps which included an overnight stay in hospital to nausea but luckily so far no vomiting. I have been taken a back by just how I have felt so low these last few weeks despite this baby being such good news for us. I really don’t mean to put a dampener on things and deep down I am chuffed but I’m finding it mentally and physically so difficult. I’m barely able to move because of the nausea,I’m in bed most of the time Nd unable to work. So looking to have a chat with women in the same boat really to get me through this rough first trimester!

Thank you xx

ReginaPhalange89 · 19/11/2018 20:55

My hormones are all over the place tonight. I've just fallen out with OH over absolutely nothing and stormed away to the bedroom in a foul mood 🙈

Also told my brother and his wife tonight and I was so worried about it since they've been trying for a while. But they were absolutely fine! It felt so wierd telling someone because it doesn't feel real yet at all

ReginaPhalange89 · 19/11/2018 20:58

Hi @Meg1389 ! Im pretty sure those are completely normal feelings. This is my 3rd pregnancy, early days so no sickness yet but with both of my previous pregnancies I had a few really rough weeks too ! The first trimester is not glamorous at all! In fact it's really hard work. You feel sick, bloated, your hormones are everywhere. It'll settle down eventually and you'll be able to enjoy it

ohmybaby · 19/11/2018 21:08

Thanks @ratherbeshowjumping, how are you feeling?

For all those feeling anxious, I saw something back on the first thread which I thought was great. It was a mantra for when you first wake up - “Today I am pregnant”.

My mum (ex-midwife) also says pregnancy is a journey, but you don’t have to enjoy all of it. Just a reminder to myself too! Smile

BettySwoll0cks · 19/11/2018 21:10

Hi @Meg1389 welcome. My first pregnancy I felt awful - just as you describe - until about 14wks (makes sense looking at the hcg chart a few posts ago) and then suddenly, it was like a cloud lifted and I was able to really enjoy it. I hope it will be the same for you. Thanks

Meg1389 · 19/11/2018 21:17

Hi thank you @bettySwoll0cks and @Reginaphalange89

I’ve just felt so rough and miserable and been crying most days. I feel like my personality has been zapped out of me. Just counting down the days till I feel better!. I don’t cope well feeling sick let’s just say!
I’ve got an early scan tomorrow morning so fingers crossed all is ok 🤞🏻 As there was concerns due to the amount of pain I was in it was eptopic.

Congratulations by the way everyone due in July 2019 xx

SnailorSwift · 19/11/2018 21:18

Trying to get an early night as I'm exhausted and still not fully better but I've terrible pain in one shoulder now and totally anxious.

Kentishgal · 19/11/2018 21:21

Meg1389 I agree re 14 weeks - I had terrible migraines last time (with sickness) and remember saying to my husband that I just felt like I couldn't go on. But then they went at 14-16 weeks and I didn't get so much as a headache the rest of the time (until third trimester when I got carpel tunnel!) - But I felt so much better after the first trimester!

Meg1389 · 19/11/2018 21:34

@kentishgal
Thank you. 14 weeks just seems so far away! We’re you able to work? I just feel if I can get this sickness under control I could go back to work. I wondered if I would be able to ask for Gp for any anti sickness medications but don’t know how willing they are to prescribe these?

I think it’s a bit crappy because no one really knows either and I kinda want to talk about how I’m feeling etc

ReginaPhalange89 · 19/11/2018 21:39

Meg I'm sure you can get anti sickness tablets!
Also get yourself some sickness bands if you can , they sell them in pharmacies or online . Usually in the travel section as they're also sea sickness bands. They don't take away completely bt they definitely eased my nausea with my last pregnancy.

Eating dry foods can help too , also ginger biscuits (even smelling fresh ginger), sour sweets , sipping ice cold water is all supposed to help

Kentishgal · 19/11/2018 21:45

Meg1389 I intermittently worked as and when I could (on the days I felt well enough) - and worked from home as much as I could. Fingers crossed you'll get through that stage soon.

Meg1389 · 19/11/2018 21:58

Thank you. I’ve been wearing my sickness bands none stop hopefully they are helping in some way. Going to enquiry with the GP tomorrow about anti sickness tablets I need a sick note for work anyway! Sickness appears to have a pattern of hitting me from midday until pretty much bed time. Might eventually be able to work something out with work where I work from home in afternoons or something. I e never watched so much of tipping point and the chase! Lol

My appetite has gone but forcing myself to eat dry foods, mainly toast, crackers and cheese and the odd scone lol I’ve lost weight which doesn’t harm me to be honest I needed to and it will be going back on I suppose!

Just didn’t expect this first trimester to be so rough! But just got to go with it.

Twistering · 19/11/2018 23:04
