Starting a new thread as we near the 1000 comment mark on the Part 2 one!

It is nearly December and I am sure all we want for Xmas are healthy pregnancies and babies Star

Good luck to everyone still here and so sorry for how many we have already lost on the way Flowers

Have been awake most of the night, so worried they're not going to find anything when I have my scan :( I don't want to go, just so I can be blissfully unaware for a while longer.

jq28 · 20/11/2018 06:46

Hi ladies can I join?
I think I'm 5+5 due around the 18th July with our first. Feeling well at the moment but worried it will all change lol.

Twistering · 20/11/2018 07:07

@Laburna No point in telling you not to worry as it’s totally natural, but I’m sure it will be absolutely fine. What time is it? Hope it’s early so not hanging over you all day and you can come back to us with good news :)

Laburna · 20/11/2018 07:15

9am @Twistering! Leaving at 8 to get there.

Why do I have to drink 'clear' liquid? Does drinking coloured fluid have much of a difference?

StargazyDrifter · 20/11/2018 08:06

Not sure about clear liquid, but good luck Laburna! Sending you good vibes.

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 20/11/2018 08:17

@Laburna it's totally normal. I had a panic attack the morning of my first scan with DD never had one before or since then but was so overwhelmed with it all. Just remember that statistically the majority of pregnancies end positively so the odds are on your side. Good luck!

itslilsebastian · 20/11/2018 08:17

Can I just ask how you guys are having scans at this point? Seems to be around the 12 week mark for me to get one on the nhs. Thinking of paying for a private one.

TwittleBee · 20/11/2018 08:33

itslilsebastian a few of us have had numerous MCs and / or have experienced bleeding and pain so we have been getting reassurance scans on the NHS. I'm also on medication which affects early pregnancy so getting a couple extra because of that too.

Laburna maybe it means clear as in not coffee or hot chocolate but squash would be fine. I should iamgine because your body would process hot chocolate differently to water? I am interested to know why though so ask please Smile Sending you positive vibes and totally normal to be worried and anxious lovely

welcome to all the newbies too! Lovely to see us getting people closer to the end of July for their EDD now! Please add yourselves into the Google Doc x

I was also wondering about scans, my nearest epu specifically states they don't do reassurance scans under any circumstances Sad

TwittleBee · 20/11/2018 08:42

Yellowpeaches wow I am really surprised by that considering how anxiety is such a horrid thing to go through from reoccurring MCs or bleeding! Maybe they don't class those cases as reassurance scans but rather early pregnancy monitoring or ectopic checking? As surely they would need to know what is going on in those cases?

itslilsebastian · 20/11/2018 08:48

I have PCOS so hoping when I speak to the midwife they will offer one earlier than 12 weeks, I wouldn't normally be so impatient but I've got it in my head it's not real until I see it and I don't want to hide it from my family over Christmas so just want it confirmed first so to speak. I will get a private one if I can't though I think it's worth it because I'm struggling to get excited I just don't believe it yet really. Only found out two days ago and haven't had a chance to contact a midwife yet. Eagerly waiting till 9am and they open

Yellowpeaches · 20/11/2018 08:48

I'm sure they would scan if there were any worrying symptoms! I guess it depends what they class as reassurance?

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 20/11/2018 08:52

@itslilsebastian we're having a private one as they only offer it on the NHS in our area if you have had 3 or more m/c without a successful pregnancy in between

itslilsebastian · 20/11/2018 08:53

@allthegoodnamesalreadytaken When are you planning to have your private one? I'm trying to hold of until 7 weeks to make sure there's something to see. Scared the scan won't find anything!

Kentishgal · 20/11/2018 08:54

I didn't have a scan in my first pregnancy until 12 wks but then I had no abnormal symptoms so it didn't occur to me really. It's a long wait though! Have convinced myself it'll be bad news today - I just don't feel pregnant any more . Feel sick with nerves.

itslilsebastian · 20/11/2018 08:57

@Kentishgal Hope it all goes ok! Thanks I've had no abnormal symptoms I just don't believe it it's strange it just doesn't feel real I just feel like I need to see it to believe it Blush

TwittleBee · 20/11/2018 08:59

Yellowpeaches yeah that is true, guess it depends on the definition. Just looked online at my local EPU and they actually have a reassurance clinic that runs every Thursday morning! Such a postcode lottery.

Kentishgal I shall be thinking of you, what time is your scan?

ffiffi8 · 20/11/2018 09:00

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, it's been manic here! Working full time I've been coming home and literally going to bed!

Got told I won't be able to have a home birth or pool birth bec

ffiffi8 · 20/11/2018 09:03

*pressed send too early 🙈

Because I'm high risk because of my epilepsy.

Went to see a consultant yesterday to check that all my mess are ok to take and I had a surprise early scan! Everything is healthy with a good heartbeat, I was so relieved 😌 I'm 8 weeks this Thursday.

So sorry to read about some losses, sending hugs xxx

ffiffi8 · 20/11/2018 09:05

@itslilsebastian I felt exactly the same 🙈 I just thought oh god what if there's nothing there!

Kentishgal · 20/11/2018 09:05

Thank you - it's 9:50. itslilsebastian I totally get that - we both said that it definitely didn't seem real until we saw her on the screen! I just thought I'd eaten a lot of cake.

TwittleBee · 20/11/2018 09:08

ffiffi8 oh lovely you got a surprise early scan but sorry you have been advised against a HB and WB. I don't think they can actually physically stop you from having a HB from what I was told on my courses last time round btw, a MW would still have to come an attend, but think it is best to take their advice despite it being disappointing.

OP posts:
TwittleBee · 20/11/2018 09:10

Not long to go then Kentishgal FX for you seeing a healthy little bean, just remember it could still be too early for a heartbeat so don't worry if you don't see one

ffiffi8 · 20/11/2018 09:11

My epilepsy nurse just looked at me and said 'no you can't sorry, there are safeguarding guidelines that have to be followed' to be honest I'm under a consultant, midwife and specialist nurse so I'm listening to what they tell me, as long as the baby is safe!

How's everyone with symptoms?
