Is the harmony test a yes or no answer?

Paradyning · 27/12/2018 14:05

No for that you would need an amnio but the harmony it is much more specific than the NT test and looks for other chromosomal abnormalities.
E.g my NT was 1 in 790 ( as the software algorithm maxed out for my age) but my harmony was less than 1 in 10000.
You won't get an amnio on the NHS unless your risk is much greater. Like 1 in 20 or something.

Paradyning · 27/12/2018 14:06

Some good info here

inkworks273 · 27/12/2018 16:27

Thank you. I know I'm being irrational as there's a 99.86% chance that everything is fine but I'm still sitting here worrying about it.

CatflapFlapjack · 28/12/2018 08:21

@inkworks is your partner older than you? My best friend who is the same age as me had a higher risk and I assumed it was because her husband was older? It is still very low risk though.

inkworks273 · 28/12/2018 08:33

@CatflapFlapjack I'm 32 and he's 37. I don't remember them asking his age though.

Shivs123 · 28/12/2018 12:44

Hi all 😊 just jumping on this thread. I am 20 weeks today, had our scan on Christmas Eve and found we are having a little girl 💗

This is our first so excited to follow everyone on here and be able to get some advice when needed!

MissSmith80 · 29/12/2018 20:14

Hi @Shivs123 Welcome and fantastic news. It's our first too - I'm 21 weeks tomorrow, scan on Wednesday but think we are going to keep it a surprise. This thread moves more slowly now because there is a Facebook page - you would be welcome to join if you wanted, just post here and we can put you in touch with the admin for that page x

Mum2lots · 29/12/2018 21:47

Oh ladies I love this chat xx I'm not pregnant but my daughter is first baby xx it's my 3rd grandchild but I'm so excited have you room for a grandma xxxx

CatflapFlapjack · 30/12/2018 21:48

@misssmith80 please could I join the FB group?

MissSmith80 · 31/12/2018 08:04

@SurfingOwl - is it ok for @CatflapFlapjack to DM you to be added to the FB group? Xx

SurfingOwl · 31/12/2018 09:26

That’s better odds than me @inkworks273. My hospital does an amnio if your risk is 1 in 150 (or anywhere between 1 in 1, and 1 in 149) and their harmony test results are either high risk (almost certain) or low risk (no number given) so whilst I know they are considered much more accurate, if it is number that you want to see to give you reassurance then you might not get it.

Of course @CatflapFlapjack and anyone else who wants to join the Facebook group is very welcome. Smile

inkworks273 · 31/12/2018 13:00

What are your odds @SurfingOwl and how do you feel about them?

I have my 20 week scan on the 3rd so I'll see what happens then. Can they give you a better idea at that scan?

SurfingOwl · 31/12/2018 15:42

Sorry @inkworks273 but I can’t rembwr now. I feel ok about them but largely because I knew my age would go against me and the NT was 1.2mm so really low (even though that doesn’t necessarily mean anything). I’ve also had scans at 16, 20 and 24 weeks which haven’t shown anything of a concern and the paperwork says no sign of chromosome abnormality on it. I hope you get more reassurance on Thursday.

Lorrie3 · 01/01/2019 15:13

Ladies did somebody post here previously about leaky boobs?? 20 weeks first baby and one particularly leaky boob. I'm assuming it's all normal?

Shivs123 · 01/01/2019 17:25

@MissSmith80 thank you 🤗 good luck with your scan tomorrow! Keeping it a surprise is so exciting, we were just far too impatient lol.
I'd love to join the Facebook group please, just let me know what I need to do 😊

SurfingOwl · 01/01/2019 17:38

I’ve never had any leaks but I’ve got friends who have started from really early on, so I think it sounds normal @Lorrie3. When do you next have a midwife appointment?

Just send me a message with the email address that you use to log onto Facebook and I can send you the link @Shivs123 and anybody else who wants to join. It’s a secret group, so only those in it can see who has posted.

@surfingowl ive an apt this day next week so can ask then too

zoClueless · 09/01/2019 21:32

How is everyone doing? Has everyone had their 20 week scan by now or are there still some late May due dates to have them?

It's really quiet here, has the Facebook page taken over from this thread? I don't use facebook as much now but wondering whether I should get back into it and join the group for this thread!

rosettesforjill · 09/01/2019 22:37

Hello! All doing ok here. Facebook is quite busy @zoClueless but obviously it's up to you!!

I have my growth scan tomorrow (will be 25+3) - feeling ok about it as I can feel how much bigger and stronger baby is by the amount she's moving. I'm most concerned about consultants getting their knickers in a twist about home birth and trying to persuade me against it... I know it's my choice whatever they say but I could do without being lectured about it!

UntilTheVeryEnd · 10/01/2019 00:08

@zocluess Hiya! I’m in the same boat as you... I don’t have Facebook so a little sad the thread isn’t as busy as it used to be.
I’m 25 weeks and have a growth scan in a couple weeks (I take beta blockers to control my migraines which causes poor growth) it will be nice to see baby again as I have an anterior placenta and have very limited baby movements.
The midwifes have offered to Doppler me as often as I would like for reassurance but being 25 plus miles away from unit does make this more challenging. Trying to be positive about it Altho it it really difficult as my last two pregnancies movements at this stage were prolific.
I’m a bit in shock that baby will be here THIS YEAR and ive absolutely bugger all in way of getting organised. How are you with that side of things? Taking advantage of January sales? Xx

Lorrie3 · 10/01/2019 06:16

Ladies can somebody post the facebook link here. I may be on the wrong page as the facebook page I follow isn't that busy?

MissSmith80 · 10/01/2019 07:05

It's a secret group so you can't find it - you need to be added by an admin. If you DM @SurfingOwl with the email address you use for Facebook, she will add you x

zoClueless · 10/01/2019 08:22

Hello!

@rosettesforjill I've still got FB on my phone and do pop in time to time/store photos on their etc so think I'll see about joining the group. Am I right in remembering you were one of the others on this group with building work? How is it all going? Ours starts on Monday, he reckons a 10week job so even with adding a few for bad weather and optimistic estimates I'm hoping it'll just be done in time - or at least just snagging left.
Good luck with your growth scan today, hopefully they are also pleased with how everything looks and are happy for you to proceed with he home birth you want.

@UntilTheVeryEnd I also have an anterior placenta so although I am feeling movements it isn't always clear movements every day, although normally once a day there's something. I'm 24 weeks now so hoping for more regular movement soon as we are meant to start working out their patterns from now I think.
Good luck for your growth scan too. I'm looking forward to the 25 week appointment so I can listen in on heartbeat again!

We've picked up car seat and base in the sales. First big purchase, collected from shop last weekend which made everything feel that little bit more real! We also have a few Christmas clothes in the sales in 6-9months, hope they will fit him come December. Looking a pushchairs/prams now. Still feels like a LOT of organisation to go and we need to redecorate the bedroom we'll eventually be using as a nursery.
Did you get anything/looking at anything in the sales?
