I had my 16 week check with MW today and heard the heart beat - it was so lovely because I don't feel pregnant. My bump is growing a bit but other than that - nada! I guess I should count myself lucky but can't wait to be able to feel bubba to be a reminder that all is well in there

Potatoesplease · 24/11/2018 12:09

I hope that the sickness goes soon, @Inkworks273

I am 15+3 and haven't felt any movements yet; and it's my third. I have my 20 week scan booked in for a few days after Christmas. ☺🎅

Great to hear the heartbeat @MissSmith80 I can't wait for that too.

fadgadget · 24/11/2018 19:58

Is anyone getting whooping cough jab? I had flu vaccine in first trimester and midwife has now recommended whooping cough, due to a rise in newborns getting it prior to their first vaccines, so I’m booked in to get it at my GP in a couple of weeks.

You can get it from 16 weeks, worth asking if you haven’t been offered yet.

Beefandmixed · 24/11/2018 20:36

Hi everyone! I know I’m late to the party but could I join?
I’m currently 16 weeks 3 days (I think) it’s been a hectic few days due 8/5/19 with dc3 although it’s pregnancy no4. I don’t like to leave that little rainbow baby out.
Been very sick but finally feeling better now I’m on ondasatron Iv been diagnosed with hg in all my pregnancies, it obviously just doesn’t suit me. My next scan is Dec the 18th and we’re hopefully planning on doing a little gender reveal on Christmas Day with the family.

purplestar9 · 24/11/2018 21:08

@fadgadget yeh I'm booked in for both the flu jab and whooping cough jab on 3rd December.

@Beefandmixed welcome :) I have my 20 week scan on 17th so we're very close! Glad you're feeling better but I'm sorry you've been suffering.

My 20 week scan is on 13/12 - can't wait but seems so far away still!
I'm told the hospital as a whooping cough drop in clinic there so I'm to go there after the scan to get that jab done.

Rubberduckies · 26/11/2018 08:58

Hi everyone. I'm 14 weeks now and still not feeling great, although I haven't properly thrown up for a few weeks. I did cave and buy a doppler. It's quite nice to sit and listen to the heartbeat with Dh but obviously if I have any worries I would get checked out, I don't know what a good heart beat sounds like!

I've got a definite little bump. Does anyone have any good brands/shops that sell elasticated work trousers? Mat trousers look ridiculous, my normal ones don't fit.... I can't wear leggings/dresses/tunics or leave unbuttoned with a belly band because I work with people with challenging behaviours, offenders, some police work.... so proper trousers that will stay up....any ideas!?

SurfingOwl · 26/11/2018 09:44

Hello everyone. Hope you are all ok.

Has anyone had their whooping cough and flu jabs at the same time. If so, were they ok in the same arm or is it better to have one in each?

Rubberduckies I’ve no idea for shops selling elasticated work trousers but could you get the next size up of normal ones and alter them to fit until maternity ones are ok?

Welcome Beefandmixed.

Anyone else struggling with anxiety about pregnancy? If so, any tips?

Beckyv88 · 26/11/2018 10:59

@rubberduckies you could try uniqlo- I have some culottes from there with an elastic waist that still fit me fine and look professional. Also M&S have some good stretchy material stuff.

I haven’t had any jabs yet @surfingowl, did you have to request them specially?

I’d say my main anxiety is around stuff going wrong and that I don’t feel very pregnant at the moment. What I try to keep in mind is that nothing has happened to tell me something actually has gone wrong so I should stay positive. Is there anything in particular giving you anxiety?

Lorrie3 · 26/11/2018 11:12

@rubberduckies I got one pair of black work trousers from Dorothy Perkins they have little extra elastic bits on each side and are very comfy but otherwise look normal. I had same issue as you not ready for full on bump ones.

Has anybody bought anything in the Black Friday deals? Mothercare have a super bottle and sterilizer set for €70 was €199 apparently . I’m very tempted but I’ve not bought anything for baby yet only 15 weeks and so anxious!!

UntilTheVeryEnd · 26/11/2018 12:02

@Lorrie3 I would defo buy it up! I bought a full travel system at 10 weeks in my last pregnancy (which was stupid I know) but it was an amazing deal... the likelihood of issues is dramatically reduced following your 12 week scan. It’s time to relax a wee bit and start enjoying buying wee bits for babySmile I would buy bigger things after 20 week scan but a bottle and steriliser set will never go wrong x
I say this at 18+5 having bought nothing cause it’s my third and let’s face it, the poor little bugger won’t get anything new haha

purplestar9 · 26/11/2018 13:51

@SurfingOwl I've been told to have the jabs in separate arms. I have mine booked for next Monday. My sister (3 weeks ahead of me) had hers done last week and she said she had one in each arm too, but she did say the whooping cough one makes your arm ache for about a day!

SurfingOwl · 26/11/2018 14:10

My hospital has a vaccination clinic and gives you the jabs when you go for scans @Beckyv88

Thanks @purplestar9 and I will go for one in each arm.

Flamingosnbears · 27/11/2018 12:42

Hi all 👋, can I join?... This is my third, I'm due 25th May the time is just flying by

rosettesforjill · 27/11/2018 14:11

Hey @Flamingosnbears! Congratulations! It's going so quickly for me as well - I have my 20 week scan a week tomorrow but my positive test only seems like five minutes ago.

Well I had my whooping cough jab last night and I can confirm it makes your arm ache a LOT ☹️

We've had the builders start work on our extension now so there's no going back 😬 Just praying for no hitches so we're back in a (lovely shiny) house in time for baby!

Beckyv88 · 27/11/2018 15:36

Anyone else suffering with flu/cough/cold. I’ve been ill for at least a week. Today I caved and had 1 paracetamol as I felt I was going to pass out on the tube to work.

Speaking of travel - anyone els got a baby on board badge and when did you start to wear it? Since I’m not showing really I feel a bit of a fraud wearing it but still am during rush hour so I don’t get pushed.

Flamingosnbears · 27/11/2018 15:51

@Beckyv88 yes!! It's not good just got over a sore throat that I had for a good three weeks thaught that would be me done and now this oh well ti's the season I suppose... @ rosettesforjill I'll be having my whooping cough jab after my midwife appt next week. Hope it all goes well with the extension.

ZoeOutdoors · 27/11/2018 17:09

Feeling very sorry for myself this week as I have a stinking cold Sad

Firstbornunicorn · 27/11/2018 17:46

I didn't realise that the whooping cough jab also contains tetanus and diphtheria antibodies. Bit worried about getting it now as I felt proper rough after my last tetanus.

Pebblespony · 27/11/2018 20:41

I got the whooping cough last time (the combined one) and was grand. It's only a low dose booster shot.

Pebblespony · 27/11/2018 20:43

Not looking forward to it though. I found the regular tetanus shot rough too.

Firstbornunicorn · 27/11/2018 21:26

Yeah, it was just a booster I had last time that made me feel a bit fluey the next day. I'm not worried enough not to get it, but I'm trying to book Friday off work in case I do feel rough. I'll get the house cleaned if I don't!

Pebblespony · 27/11/2018 21:28

Win, win! Seriously though, hope it goes well and you don't even notice it.

rosettesforjill · 27/11/2018 21:57

I've just had the arm ache, no other side effects, so hopefully the same for everyone else!

SurfingOwl · 28/11/2018 15:28

Hello and welcome @Flamingosnbears

Hope you feel much better soon @Beckyv88. I found the badge was best for me in the first trimester as after that the bump spoke for itself!
