Very jealous of all the deep sleepers. Woke up at 3am and could not get back to sleep at all, today is going to be long! Also telling my parents today, I'm going to need their help and support either way, plus I'm moving in for a week next week to help with my elderly grandparents while my mum is away and my dad will definitely twig when I repeatedly turn down a g&t

TwinkleDay · 03/11/2018 09:03

@Squ1ggle good look with the big tell. We are aiming to hold out until Xmas. My parents live local but only see them at weekends and others live 2 hours away... however they are staying with us this weekend but I’m hoping I don’t feel too sicky.

I am off to my friends baby shower today but I told someone at work and she said jokingly ‘oh it’s not your baby shower then, is there something you want to tell us’ I was like obvs no no .. but I’m a size 14-16 and thought how rude.. yes love I’m actually a size 6 I’m just carrying well over 8 months. Anyone else had anything awkward like this?

HayleyF97 · 03/11/2018 09:21

Hi ladies, can I join? Very very early days but have tested the last 3 mornings and this morning I’ve had the darkest line yet- I would only be 3w+3D and this is our DC1- I have a step son who I love with all my heart but I cannot wait for him to have a bubba sister/brother! Trying not too get too excited as I’m still in shock that this is real! Due date would be 17/07/19.

Congratulations to everyone!!

Squ1ggle · 03/11/2018 09:36

Thanks @TwinkleDay, not had anything like that but made up some reason to my colleague why I needed to have the afternoon off in a few weeks for my booking in appointment and she definitely wasn't buying it Grin

Squ1ggle · 03/11/2018 09:40

Welcome @HayleyF97 add yourself to the list, there's a good group of us now.

Did another cbd this morning 'just to check' and it had progressed from 1-2 to 2-3. Have got another stashed away to take in a week, not that I'm obsessive or anything Blush

StargazyDrifter · 03/11/2018 09:45

edidxb So sorry to hear you're poorly, that's horrid. I suspect any kind of challenge like illness or stress is harder in pregnancy. I had a hard day at work last week, nothing out of the ordinary and we do occasionally get those kind of 'go, go, go' moments where I am, but it was so much harder to deal with somehow. Be gentle with yourself. 💐

edidxb and Squ1ggle Definiteky interesting how far we rely on alcohol as a treat or a bond in social/family situations. Lunch today is again going to be difficult to navigate!

At least of my MIL did twig it she will hopefully do it with that very endearing and slightly panto-esque secrecy she puts on around Christmas.

TwinkleDay Hopefully that was just a well-intentioned comment executed badly. That said, that would also play on my mind. Last time I was pregnant I told my best friend early and asked not to tell his (slightly spiky) partner yet, until 12 wks etc. They're a slightly odd pair in that they don't share that much stuff somehow. He clearly had though, because when they both came for Christmas drinks one of my gifts was very lovely tea and the partner said 'well not like you can drink it now anyway'. When I asked what that meant he tried to tow back and said about me being on a health kick. It was all a bit silly. I always think that, if people guess, they should be polite enough to not discuss until the person concerned is comfortable with it. But again early pregnancy makes me a bit grumpy!

Frazzle How interesting about that calculator! Keep us posted!

Right. Off for a morning stroll with DH before the nausea and/or rain catch up with us! 😂

StargazyDrifter · 03/11/2018 10:05

On the evolutionary context to boy/girl babies, touched on earlier in the thread, this is quite intereresting. I had no idea there could be this macro-context to it beyond 50/50.

Laburna · 03/11/2018 11:00

That's really interesting @stargazydrifter. I do like the thought of all those old superstitions they used trying to get boys though 🤣

Toria73 · 03/11/2018 12:03

Hi there, may I join please as my EDD is 08/07 assuming I go all the way & it’s not twins?
I’m slightly concerned that a) I’m tempting fate because it’s still so early & b) I’m the oldest here (I will be 45 in December)...
I had 1 mmc last September & 2 failed ivf attempts, this wee one(s) is my final ivf attempt.

pancakes22 · 03/11/2018 12:24

Oh hello morning sickness. I have been expecting you!

Weighed myself this morning and I've lost 4 pounds since pregnant which was surprising!! I'm presuming this must be down to not having a daily glass of wine perhaps?!

Brainfried1986 · 03/11/2018 12:28

Hi Toria73! Fingers crossed for a sticky bean 🤞

I’m a proper state today - went for flu jab this morning and think that combined with hormones has made me an emotional wreck. DH is making ds’s lunch, which makes me feel guilty because I always do it, but I shouldn’t feel guilty really, since a) he’s ds’s parent too and b) I feel crummy and deserve a break at the moment. Honestly hate feeling so feeble, I’m really bad at giving myself a break 😞

itsallgreek · 03/11/2018 12:47

@Brainfried1986 sorry to hear you not feeling your best today... Try not to beat yourself up over it of course you deserve a rest and they'll be many many more DS lunches for you to make in the future.

Laburna · 03/11/2018 13:06

Managed to convince myself this morning (for no reason), that it was all over and I wasn't pregnant anymore. I poas and the line is a strong as ever and I'm now in the car on the way up the motorway trying not to throw up as the sickness has returned.

No clue what is going on in my brain 😟

TwittleBee · 03/11/2018 13:06

I can't stop crying today. I'm an emotional wreck. Everything's on me (good and anxiety). Also proper chucking up now and the silliest of smells or seeing something. Pretty sure I gave myself away to my Grandparents today because I'm so bloated and the dress I'm wearing proper shows it. Also feel so bloody dizzy and faint. Paint is subsiding either on my side bleurgh.

TwittleBee · 03/11/2018 13:07

Sorry to rant. DH is at work and feeling so emotional

TwittleBee · 03/11/2018 13:08

Oh bless you Laburna i get that fear of what if its not real and still POAS!

Toria73 · 03/11/2018 13:24

@Brainfried1986 thank you & hope your day gets better.
@TwittleBee if it makes you feel any better I started crying in Waitrose on Thursday because I didn’t like my decaf coffee & I hate the one I have in my house. I felt like a total genius & a right hormonal twat when I realised I didn’t have to finish the coffee I was drinking & I could buy different coffee for the house ... 🙄😊😂

TwittleBee · 03/11/2018 13:34

Thank you Toria73 and haha yeah I had one of those moments too recently.

Also apologies to anyone trying to make sense of my previous post. Was typing through tears and realise now half of it makes no sense!

That last line is meant to read, the pain is not subsiding on my side

ratherbeshowjumping · 03/11/2018 14:02

Welcome to the newbies 😊

Feeling absolutely awful today - I got up, sorted the animals out & stayed in bed until 12.30! Absolutely unheard of for me. I've put a stew in the slow cooker & gagged searing the lamb so fingers crossed I can actually eat that tonight.

Banging headache, really hot (?), awful nausea but not actually being sick...

We went out for dinner with a group of good friends - DHs best friend already knew - but we ended up telling the others as they weren't buying the no alcohol story we fabricated (!) I then felt awful as later on in the evening, after quite a few drinks, it emerged that one of our friends had a mc last month, cue tears from both of us. Having been in her shoes myself, I know how horrid it feels when everyone around you is pg. Know it's not my fault but feeling really shit about it today.

Squ1ggle · 03/11/2018 14:25

@ratherbeshowjumping please don't feel guilty, it sounds like you were very compassionate and she will have appreciated that

Belle2008 · 03/11/2018 14:41

Hello
Can I join pls? Got my bfp today on a frer am only on cycle day 22 and I thought I was 8dpo but seems to early to get this positive I'm in total shock had one last night on a internet cheap one so used the frer this morning and positive!!! Very very early days but I knew I was pregnant as my boobs have been so painful that last 4 days. So excited! X

TheScaredyKat · 03/11/2018 15:00

I also had a wobble this morning and thought maybe I got it all wrong so POAS. Still very definitely positive. Phew!
Getting bit jittery as we've now told the MIL and my best friend.
I'm enjoying reading everyone's updates, it's nice to feel that I'm not going through it all on my own Smile

edidxb · 03/11/2018 16:00

@Toria73 - I really don't like my decaf tea either but it's better than the other one I had. I currently have Barrys. I had Tetley earlier this year when I had mc and that was rubbish. Any other good decaf tea that people recommend?! I haven't tried a decaf coffee yet - maybe next weekend's treat!?

@TheScaredyKat and @Laburna I don't think I could POAS again in case it didn't come up positive.....but I had my blood test this week and everything was OK so staying positive.

I went to my acunpuncture this morning but didn't fall asleep as normal as I couldn't stop coughing. Have a sick note for work tomorrow too (we work Sunday to Thursday in Dubai) and have debated all day but think I will stay off again.

I also have another doctors appointment to see my OBGYN next Saturday when I will be 6 weeks for another check (due to my mc) so I will wait until then and see! Have decided that as tough as it is I must stay positive.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturdays.

Squ1ggle · 03/11/2018 16:05

@edidxb if you like Yorkshire tea, their decaf tastes the same as their normal tea to me

TheScaredyKat · 03/11/2018 16:08

@edidxb I'm so not fussy when it comes to tea! I'll drink anything that's vaguely the right colour I think. DH bought me decaf PG tips yesterday and it tastes ok to me! Grin
I don't like coffee anyway so don't have to worry about that.
