@StargazyDrifter YAY such good news!!!! I'm thrilled for you

And one of us has confirmed they're not having twins just another 30 something of us left then hahaha

MummyG82 · 02/11/2018 17:42

@StargazyDrifter yay, so pleased for you. That's great news. X

Capybaras · 02/11/2018 17:51

Great news @stargazy you must be so relieved!

This thread is busy - so much to catch up on! Glad everyone’s doing ok!
My symptoms so far have been cramping, slight nausea and a lack of appetite!
Already been discussing with OH how well hide the pregnancy until 12 weeks (assuming all goes well) as I have a hen do in a few weeks time and a wedding not long after that! Plus all the standard Christmas dos - there’s going to be a lot of ‘gin and tonics’ (or soda and lime) being drunk!

Jxtina86 · 02/11/2018 18:31

@StargazyDrifter that's excellent news, so pleased for you!

So I got my booking in appt through today for 24th... which is tricky for two reasons - 1) I'm supposed to be meeting friends and it's been in the diary for ages but more importantly reason 2) I think they think I'm further along than I am. I had 38 day cycles and when I put that plus my LMP (19th Sep) in the NHS calculator it said I was 4 weeks. The 24th Nov would make me 7 weeks. But when I filled out the referral form it only asked for LMP not cycle length. So I think they've based it on a standard 28 day cycle- which would make me 9 weeks on the 24th.

My question is, do I question it with the antenatal unit and move the appt a week later? I don't know if it makes a difference or not?!

Laburna · 02/11/2018 18:43

@Jxtina86 everywhere is different to when they want to see you, we are seen between 6 and 8 weeks, my last area was 8 and 10.

There's no harm in giving them a call to clarify, and if you can't make the appointment, move it. They won't mind if you already have plans that day! I would definitely mention in the call the cycle length and dates, just to make sure you are being seen at the right time, especially if they book you for your dating scan thinking you are further along than you are!

Jxtina86 · 02/11/2018 19:29

@Laburna ah I didn't know that it can depend on the area on when they see you. I will definitely give them a call to re-arrange (I didn't realise they could do a Saturday appt - although good to know I guess!) and will check re dates. Thank you!

BackAwayFatty · 02/11/2018 19:35

@StargazyDrifter glad everything was okay!

I keep joking with DP about twins. I always wanted two more kids but we agreed on one so I'd love twins, think he'd cry!

I've been so tired today, went for a 2 hour nap.

Laburna · 02/11/2018 19:53

I didn't think I was that tired compared to last time, but I've been for 2 naps today and feel so much better tonight!

pancakes22 · 02/11/2018 20:08

Totally with you on tiredness. I didn't think it was affecting me but today it just hit me and I physically could not keep my eyes open!! Had to get DD to snuggle in bed with me with the iPad for half hour so I could just have a power nap. I have a feeling I am going to have to resort to the dreaded iPad a lot in this pregnancy!!

The twins topic has made me giggle. We were playing with stones on the beach today and she picked out a mummy daddy and baby stone. Out of interest I said to her do you think they would like a brother or sister stone too and instead out of the blue she came back with two extra stones and said twins mummy!! Hope it's not a sign...! 😂

TwinkleDay · 02/11/2018 20:26

@pancakes22 aww this is really cute.. imagine if she was physikick ?

I have had two dreams this week about my teeth falling out... after a google it’s all relevant about a big decision or change coming up in your life and secrets. I am actually due the dentist the day before my first appointment but I’m private not nhs so don’t think will get it for free some how.

And this weekend I have the in laws staying with us... hope I don’t feel too rough this weekend!

TwittleBee · 02/11/2018 21:02

That is so cute though pancakes22 does she have any idea yet? When you thinking of telling her?

Oh that would be typical wouldn't it haha BackAwayFatty

Does anyone actually want twins on here? I love the idea but I know we wouldn't be able to financially cope with twins!

I'm like 100% sure we are having a girl now. Been having loads of lil signs, e.g. saw a pink firework just as I was thinking about baby. Also bought more baby things today! Really hoping I'm not jinxing this

pancakes22 · 02/11/2018 21:23

@TwittleBee Yes she is a cutie! No she doesn't have any idea. We went to the dentist and I had to say I'm pregnant because they wanted to do an x ray but I don't think she knows what the word pregnant means as we have only ever said baby in tummy etc.

To be honest I want to leave it as long as possible before telling her because 9 months is a long enough time for adults never mind a 3 year old! Part of me would like to be able to show her the scan because I know someone else who had their second child said that taking DD1 to see the scan helped with the understanding. BUT I would not want to be in the position of anything 'bad' coming up on the scan and then having to deal with a toddler there too. I think we will just play it by ear as to when it may naturally come up. What is everyone else thinking with telling siblings?

Sending happy pink thoughts your way!!

Frazzlerock · 02/11/2018 21:35

I honestly don't have a care in the world if we have a girl or a boy. A boy could be feminine and a girl could be masculine. Pretty sure any daughter of mine won't be very girly but who knows!
Also, given my experience I just want an alive one. I know that sounds like a horribly virtuous statement but that is all I want.
Despite that, I do understand the idea of a girl or a boy to some extent, especially if you have several of one kind. But I don't understand the pink/blue thing

Frazzlerock · 02/11/2018 21:37

Actually re the twins thing, you've reminded me that DS2 said completely randomly while we were watching TV last week that "Mummy's having twins". He has no clue I am pregnant, it was totally out of the blue. But he is the most random child I've ever known so it wasn't entirely unexpected for him to say such a thing. Just that being pregnant made DP and I feel a bit spooked!

TwittleBee · 02/11/2018 22:09

I only get the pink blue thing purely as a stereotype and so seeing a pink firework would be associated as a girl symbol in our society. DS certainly isn't wrapped up in blue Frazzlerock and never was. And me and him frequently go for coffee and do our make up together. So I'm not enforcing stereotypes of gender onto my kids but I'll take stereotypical signs as an indicator of fate.

Proper strange he said that then! They do say children have a 6th sense on this sort of thing! DS has certainly becoming much more cuddly with me past few weeks!

StargazyDrifter · 02/11/2018 23:04

Jxtina86 I think it's worth double checking what happens at the booking appointment. If it's just forms, previous history and that kind of stuff then you can do it at any time. If they're going to be measuring anything it's worth making them aware. With my recent trip to EPU they also dated my pregnancy by LMP at first, despite my mutterings about irregular cycles. Then they revised the age down after the scan. The website BabyMed has a great 'pregnancy calculator' which lets you put in a number of events in order to calculate due date and key milestones, incl ovulation date. I've found that really helpful with my irregular cycles.

BackAwayFatty If you ended up with twins, that would be a very funny way to stick to but also break the agreement!

pancakes How absolutely adorable about the little pebbles. I don't have any DCs but seems very sensible about not wanting the toddler in the room in case of mixed news. If nothing else, they'll pick up on you being upset.

Frazzle That is very random of your DS. You never know!

Given how big this thread is getting, someone is likely to end up with twins, surely!

Tonight has been hard. Seeing DH's family this weekend, my 'I'm on antibiotics' and tiny sips of wine/swapping glasses with DH seemed to go ok. At the end of the evening everyone had cheese and wine though. I managed to do a convincing 'oh I'm too full' but the cheese smells were positively 🤢 for me today. MIL offered me a cup of ginger tea to take up to bed... I'm now wondering if she's cracked it! I do usually take something like that up to bed, usually camomile, but it's the way she offered it. Maybe I'm over-analysing it. One more day under cover tomorrow! 😉

Hope you've all had a lovely Friday evening.

itsallgreek · 03/11/2018 06:58

Morning ladies.... I slept from 10 last night and told DP on no circumstance was he to even make a slight breathing sound which might wake me up... Poor bloke he managed to come to bed much later get in and sleep without me understanding a thing.

I feel much better today. I've got a full day though but I'll get through it.

edidxb · 03/11/2018 07:05

@stargazydrifter - fantastic news, I am really happy for you. Also, I love your avoiding alcohol story. I think your MIL cracked it. I have often worked out people are pregnant really early on and I think she might have just done so. It has made me think about how much I/my circle rely on alcohol as I almost always drink, whereas now I am going to be driving. But I know they won't buy it as normally I just get a taxi - what's with my sudden budgeting!?

I still have bronchitis and I am really struggling. I haven't felt this unwell for a long time. It is obviously affected by pregnancy as I feel so tired and it has just wiped me out. I still don't really have any nausea which is what happened last time and I had a mc but I am trying to think about loads of people who don't get much nausea and have very healthy pregnancies. Also, I am just 5 weeks today and it can still kick in!

I had acupuncture this cycle that I got pregnant after trying for the last 7 months so I do believe it had an impact. I am considering continuing until 12 weeks as apparently it helps the blood flow. Anyone on here keep going with acupuncture once pregnant?

toots123 · 03/11/2018 07:22

Tentatively joining.

After a very very crap year I got a BFP yesterday.
Hoping we all have a very uneventful 9 months x

Frazzlerock · 03/11/2018 07:46

Morning!

@TwittleBee oh I know. I was being quite tongue in cheek when I said about the pink/blue thing and I definitely put a wink face but it's not appearing on my mobile app?!

@StargazyDrifter Well done on last night. Man you are so strong not telling anyone. I'd have given up halfway through! One more day though.... you can do it!

@itsallgreek I'm glad you got a good night's sleep and well done DP not waking you!
Funny you should say that, I'm definitely sleeping deeper now. I would wake if someone dropped a pin half a mile away but now I am pretty much comatose every night.

@edidxb I'm sorry you're ill. Not pleasant especially during early pregnancy when you are probably feeling rubbish anyway. I hope you feel better, and FWIW, I'm not nauseous either and I'm about 6 weeks today.

Ohh except, I did the Babymed calculator
@StargazyDrifter suggested and I put in ovulation (which I know because I used Ovusense) and it's put me at 6+3 rather than 6 which means due date is DS1's 14th birthday! (26th June). That calculator also worked out implantation really accurately which I also know because Ovusense picks up a dip in my temp. So it'll be interesting to see next Sat at my scan how accurate that is.

Hi @toots123 Welcome to this mega group! Feel free to fix the last list and add yourself

Frazzlerock · 03/11/2018 07:47

Hmm... not sure why most of that is in bold! Also it's chopped off my smileys again...

amanda2809 · 03/11/2018 08:14

Ugh I've woken up full of cold. Pretty much limited to paracetamol aren't I?

TwittleBee · 03/11/2018 08:20

Certainly no emojis have been working for me for quite a while now actually Frazzlerock Wonder what's happened to them all?

I told my mum about pregnancy today, she is very happy. Was going to wait till Xmas but I really wanted her to know in case this one ends like the last one. Need the emotional support. Plus I'm spending whole day with her and I'm so bloated already so I'm sure she would have guessed as I'm also craving sugar like mad and being sick

ratherbeshowjumping · 03/11/2018 08:27

Just catching up... @StargazyDrifter I'm so thrilled for you 👏🏼👏🏼
